48. Heavy Price To Pay
After a few hours of weeping, Luna Viviana finally stopped crying.
Mia felt relieved. Hearing her friend's pitiful cries caused her distress because she had run out of ideas to help her. "Are you okay now?" she asked.
Luna Viviana nodded her head. "Yeah. After crying a river, I feel better, thanks to you," she said with a grateful smile.
"Great! I'm deeply worried about your condition. You can't keep crying forever. Now that your marriage is already over, you have to move on for your unborn child's sake. Even if you no longer wish to live, you have to continue living because you are carrying a baby in your womb. Do you understand me?"
Luna Viviana nodded her head. "Of course, I do," she replied, caressing her tummy gently. "I will be a better mother and person for my baby." Her voice carries a sense of responsibility.
Mia was pleased with her friend's statement, filled with positivity. "So, what is your plan? What is your decision?"
Luna Viviana took a deep breath. "I will accept the divorce and move on," she said with finality in her voice.
Shocked, Mia looked at her friend, surprised by her sudden decision. "Wow, are you sure? That was fast!"
Luna Viviana smiled. "Yeah. You are right, I can no longer save my marriage because my husband has already left me for another woman. Why prolong the pain? Even if I cry like a river, he will never return to my side. My marriage is over, and I should start thinking about my future with my child. It's not the end of the world yet. Who knows down the road I will meet a guy that will stay by my side forever," she said optimistically.
"Wow! I'm happy for you, friend!" Mia clapped her hands with glee, pleased with her friend's quick acceptance of her fate. She hugged her and said gently, "You will be fine."
"I will make sure I will be fine," Luna Viviana said in a voice filled with newfound strength.
"So, after the divorce, what is your plan?" Mia asked.
"Before I sign the divorce I will make sure that my child and I will be taken care of financially by my husband for life. I will receive monthly support from my ex-husband for as long as I live. I will ask for a hefty cash divorce settlement. I will buy a property near the beach and enjoy my pregnancy. I will take care of myself and my baby. I will stay away from stress and negativity and enjoy my life surrounded by mother nature. That's my plan," Luna Viviana said with a smile.
"That's my girl! That's the spirit, my friend!" Mia raved ecstatically, very much pleased with her friend's positivity. "I will help you find a beautiful property near the beach," she said in a thrilled voice.
"Yeah. A gorgeous beach property is indeed my first choice," Luna Viviana muses.
"I have a realtor friend who manages a website. We can find an endless array of properties for sale there. You want to shop for a property right now? We can visit the website and browse the properties listed there," Mia suggested.
"Sure, why not? Let's do it!" Luna Viviana said excitedly. She went to the dresser table and picked up her tablet and began browsing the website with Mia.
The site has a wide range of property listings from condos, beach houses, office spaces, ranch houses, etcetera.
A few minutes later.
"This three-bedroom modern bungalow property is pretty good. I like it! Perfect for you and your baby," Mia gushed merrily.
"Yeah, it's a cute and cozy looking house, not too big and not too small for me and my baby," Luna Viviana agreed.
"And here's another one. It's a two-story modern house and has a nice balcony and porch facing the beautiful beach. A perfect spot to see the sun rising in the ocean." Mia said, looking at the modern-looking house situated on privately owned beach property.
"And it has a nice swimming pool at the back of the house! Perfect! It got all the comforts I needed. It's like a vacation house. I love it!" Luna Viviana said brightly.
"Yeah, this looks better than the first," Mia agreed. "Let's check other properties, maybe we can find the best of the best."
"Yeah, I only want the best for me and my child," Luna Viviana said, her eyes sparkling with mirth.
They browsed the realty website and found 6 more stunning beachfront properties that matched Luna Viviana's taste.
"I want to see these properties tomorrow! I'm excited about living there as soon as possible," Luna Viviana declared. "Ask your friend if all these properties are still on the market. I want to check six properties within three days. I want to have a change of environment ASAP! I don't want to stay in this house anymore that holds so many painful memories of me and my husband. I want to start living my new life," she added, her voice filled with determination and eagerness to start a new life.
Stunned, Mia eyed her friend closely. Amazed by her quick transformation from the crying tormented girl to a whole new person, her eyes shimmered with purpose. "Um, are you sure you want to leave this house right away?"
Luna Viviana smiled, amused by the look of surprise on her friend's face. "Why? What's wrong with my spur of the moment decision? Indeed, it is hard to believe that within just a few hours of crying my eyes out, I was able to convince myself to move on quickly. This is what you have been trying to tell me at the beginning, to let go of my ex-husband and start planning for my future. I need to do this, so I don't go crazy thinking about my heartbreak and loss. Moving to a beach house, free from the memories of my painful past, is the best thing to do. This is it! I'm moving forward!" she said, her voice vibrating with energy.
"Wow, you moved on so fast, girl. I'm mind-blown!" Mia squealed in delight as she saw the sincerity in her friend's eyes. She found it a little bit surreal though.
Mia immediately placed a call to her real estate agent friend and asked if they could tour the six properties in the days to come. "Are all the properties still up for sale?" she asked over the phone.
"Yes, all of them. I will give you a tour anytime. Just give me a schedule," the agent replied.
"OK. We will visit the beachfront properties tomorrow morning. Is that okay with you?" she asked.
"Sure! I'll wait for you in the Lazzie cafe tomorrow at 9:00 in the morning. Is that okay with you?" the agent asked.
Mia glanced at her friend listening nearby, who had already given her a thumbs up. "Alright, 9:00 then..."
"OK. See you tomorrow. Bye," the agent ended the phone conversation at her end.
Mia faced her friend. "We are scheduled for tomorrow's sightseeing at the beach. I can't wait to see those cool properties!" she said excitedly. She was over the moon, happy to support her friend and to start a new phase in her life.
Luna Viviana smiled. "Me too!" She went to the dresser table, removed a notepad from the drawer and scribbled something on it.
"What are you doing?" Mia asked.
"I will make a divorce settlement agreement. My dear husband needs to comply with my three wishes before I give him a divorce," Luna Viviana replied cheekily.
Curious, Mia asked, "May I see your list?"
"Sure!" Luna Viviana handed the list to her.
Mia's eyes widened in shock after reading the list. Her jaw dropped to the floor. "Oh, my! Your list is outrageous!"
Luna Viviana grinned. "That's the price my husband needs to pay for divorcing me."
Astonished, Mia was shaking her head when her friend headed to the door. She was dead sure Alpha Callum would reject the list. It's over the top!
Luna Viviana paused at the door and looked at Mia. "I'm going to my husband's office to hand him my list. Don't leave the room. I'll be back in a minute," she said, grabbing the doorknob and leaving the room.
