74. Watching
In his room on the second deck of the cruise ship, Kaspar put blue eye contact lenses in his eyes. Next, he picked up the black curly wig and placed it securely on his head. After a few minutes of fixing his appearance in the mirror, he was finally satisfied.
Even if he bumps into the couple, they can't easily recognize him because his disguise looks authentic. As long as he doesn't talk to them face to face, his charade won't be discovered. Clarice may remember his original voice, but if they accidentally bump into each other with no choice, he will just use a fake voice to talk to her.
For now, he would just follow the couple around at a safe distance. He doesn't want them to notice that he is following their every movement.
He preferred to throw Clarice into the sea if he spotted her alone without her husband around.
Putting poison in her food would be difficult because that would need perfect execution and her husband was always around to complicate things, and he had no weapon that he could use to kill her.
No matter how difficult the situation is, he just needs to focus on the $10 million reward he will get after completing his mission.
Yeah, that's right! He can do it!
Done looking at his reflection in the mirror, he left his room, ready to follow the couple around the cruise ship.
Kaspar decided to chill for the next two hours near the pool area, drinking his favorite drink. He just wanted to enjoy two hours of moments alone with himself.
Yet destiny is nice to him. He saw the couple approaching his location. They sat on chairs at the opposite end, holding their drinks, talking and laughing. They seemed to be having a good time.
He has to remind himself that it was the couple's wedding anniversary and that's why they are on a cruise ship holiday to celebrate the special occasion. He will give the couple enough time to enjoy each other's company before executing his evil plan.
For a few minutes Kaspar felt guilty. Clarice looked happy, and she seemed to have no plan for getting revenge for what she had been through in the past. She looks like a reborn person. So why kill her again?
Is it necessary to kill her again?
Kaspar kept asking himself that question a hundred times while sipping his drink, occasionally sneaking a glance at the couple.
"You have to kill her if you want the $10 million reward!" Aurelia's voice echoed in his mind, reminding him to focus on his mission to eliminate Clarice for good.
He took a deep breath and looked at the horizon in the distance. This will be the last time he kills someone for money.
After he gets the reward, he will leave Aurelia's side, find a place to call his own and open a fortune-telling shop and become an Oracle palmist, reading people's palms, looking into their future in exchange for money.
The wonderful plan fires him up. It has been burning in his mind for a while like a distant dream, but once he completes his mission and earns the $10 million dollar reward, then his fortune-telling shop will become a reality soon!
He smiled a little. He glanced at the couple then scanned the entire pool area. Not many people are swimming in the sparkling water at that moment.
While chilling, enjoying the beautiful weather, he was also waiting for an opportunity when Alpha Callum left his wife's side.
One hour later...
Kaspar was still waiting patiently for the opportunity to strike.
Unfortunately, the couple left the pool area, went to the third deck and checked out stores selling cosmetics, skin care and perfumes. The couple also entered stores selling shoes, bags, jewelry and watches.
Kaspar didn't follow the couple. He lingered outside the store, sitting on one of those benches scattered around the ship. He was busy browsing his phone, occasionally watching people coming and going in all directions.
The couple came out of the store empty-handed. Then they entered the casino.
Kaspar didn't follow the couple inside the casino, he just waited outside. Twenty minutes later, the couple exited the casino and strolled towards the rope course area.
With a kid-like enthusiasm, the couple went through all the rope courses offered, laughing merrily, having fun.
Kaspar remained on the sideline, eating ice cream while scanning the blue ocean, pretending he was just a bystander, enjoying the view. Several people were enjoying the rope courses and the couple was one of them.
After the couple was done with the rope courses, they tried miniature golf.
A few hours later, the couple dined in the restaurant serving international cuisine while Kaspar was eating dinner at the opposite restaurant serving pizza, pasta and salads, occasionally glancing at the couple through the transparent glass wall.
Hours passed by.
The couple retreated to their presidential suite, but the area can only be accessed by people who occupy those fancy suites. Kaspar can't enter the restricted area.
Kaspar didn't mind at all, he was satisfied with his slow progress, at least he knew now where the couple was staying on the cruise ship.
That night he stayed up late, waiting vigilantly for the couple to leave their suite to admire the full moon in the sky. The evening was lovely, but the couple were probably already sleeping in their room.
Kaspar thought that this was the best time and place to throw someone into the water because the majority of people were already sleeping in their rooms and this part of the ship is not frequently visited by a lot of people, although the place was situated near the presidential suite.
The place has sun loungers and comfy sofas strategically arranged, offering passengers a nice view of the wide ocean and the sky above. For Kaspar, it is a nice spot to enjoy watching sunrise and sunset because it is an open space offering a wide view of breathtaking scenery while the ship is sailing.
It was already 10:00 in the evening when Kaspar returned to his room to retire for the night.
One hour later he fell asleep in his bed.
Meanwhile...
The couple left their suite and stayed in the area where Kaspar had lingered for hours waiting for them in vain.
Clarice and Alpha Callum sat on the sun lounger, admiring the starry sky. The full moon looks ethereal, casting a soft glow in the sky.
"So beautiful," Clarice murmured, smiling brightly.
"Not as beautiful as you, my dearest wife," Alpha Callum said adoringly, planting a gentle kiss on her head.
Clarice smiled, gazing sweetly into her husband's eyes. "Look at the sea, so calm and serene. No big waves distorting the view. The calm water looks so breathtaking and mesmerizing I can't stop looking at it," she said in elation.
Alpha Callum smiled. "Indeed, the water is beautiful to look at, and the sky is amazing tonight. The stars came out in full force to give us a fantastic view to enjoy and admire."
"Yeah, dazzling and breathtaking," she murmured in a thrilled voice. It's hard to admire and appreciate the beauty of nature when she and her husband are both busy with their daily routines in the house. Precious moments like these are meant to be remembered forever.
"You want to get some drinks? How about juice, soda or hot coffee?" he offered.
"Hot chocolate coffee!" Clarice replied with glee.
"Alright, do you want me to go to the store to buy it for us, or will we go together to get our coffee from the restaurant?" he asked.
"You go ahead and get our coffee. I'll just wait here for you," she responded with a nod of her head.
Alpha Callum left and proceeded to the restaurant to buy coffee.
Clarice's eyes sparkled as she continued admiring the starry sky, dazzled by the breathtaking view of the full moon against the darkness of the night, filling her heart and mind with bliss.
A few minutes later, Alpha Callum returned with two cups of coffee. The couple enjoyed sipping their creamy chocolate coffee, admiring the romantic night in their newly-found lovely spot on the cruise ship.
Meanwhile...
Kaspar was already snoring heavily in his room, missing the perfect opportunity to execute his mission.
He slept peacefully that night, knowing there's always a next time.
