134. Where You Belong
The evening has finally come.
The maid entered the room and announced, "Luna, dinner is ready. They are already waiting in the dining room."
"OK. Thanks. We'll come down in a minute," Clarice replied, calling her son. "Let's have dinner now."
"Yes, Mommy," Caden replied.
They put the toys in the basket and left the room. When they arrived in the dining room, the men were already eating.
Alpha Callum addressed his wife and son. "Take your seats," he said.
Caden sat beside his father and Clarice sat beside her son.
"Let's eat," Clarice said, smiling at her husband, breaking the ice between them.
Alpha Callum nodded his head in acknowledgment. Grandpa Eliezer and Beta Amir continued eating.
They ate in silence, enjoying the delicious dishes and the company of each other.
"Mommy, will you sleep here tonight? We will sleep together in Daddy's room. Please?" Caden begged with puppy dog's eyes.
Heavy silence fell in the room. Everyone froze.
Grandpa Eliezer and Beta Amir exchanged knowing glances at each other.
Alpha Callum felt uncomfortable with his son's request.
Clarice was speechless for a moment. She has no plans to stay at the mansion tonight. She glanced at her husband. He was silent. Now it's up to her to decide.
"Mommy, why aren't you answering my questions? You don't want to sleep here in our house?" Caden asked, wide-eyed, ready to cry and throw a tantrum if needed.
Clarice swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. "Of course, son. I will sleep with you in dad's room tonight," she finally said.
"Hooray!" Caden smiled brightly, happy that his mother gave in to his request. "Thank you, Mommy. Tomorrow morning after breakfast we will swim in the pool, okay?"
Clarice grins. "Sure, son."
"YAY! My mommy is finally staying at home for good! I'm very happy!" Caden clapped his hands gleefully. He looked at his grandfather. "Grandpa, are you happy Mommy is back?"
Grandpa Eliezer smiled. "Yes, very much!"
Caden looked at his uncle Amir and asked, "How about you, Uncle? Are you happy my mommy is back?"
Beta Amir grinned. "Yes, happy of course!"
Caden looked at his father. "Daddy, are you happy Mommy is back?"
Everyone at the table directed their gazes at Alpha Callum. The pressure was on him heavy as a rock.
The atmosphere suddenly turned tense.
Clarice looked at her husband, holding her breath, waiting for his answer.
Alpha Callum finally met his wife's gaze and smiled. "Yes, of course, son. I'm happy Mommy is back."
"Yippee! Mommy will never leave me again!" Caden squealed in delight.
Caden's face radiates happiness. Laughter vibrated in the air.
At that very moment, the tense atmosphere between the feuding couple magically disappeared.
The dinner ended well. Everyone was in high spirits.
After dinner, Clarice and Caden went upstairs while the men were relaxing on the sofa in the living room, discussing important matters concerning the pack and the new project Grandpa Eliezer is planning for his farm.
Upstairs, Clarice and Caden watched cartoons on TV.
At 8:30 in the evening, Caden was already showing signs of sleepiness, yawning nonstop.
"Are you sleepy, son?" Clarice asked.
Caden nodded his head. "Yes, Mommy."
"Alright, let's go to sleep, but let's brush our teeth first," she said.
The mother and son brushed their teeth in the bathroom. Afterward, they put on their pajamas and went to the master bedroom. When they arrived in the room, Alpha Callum was not there yet.
"Mommy, where is Daddy? I want him to sleep with us on bed," Caden demanded.
"Daddy is still working in his office," Clarice replied.
Caden grumbled. "I want him to sleep with us now!" he insisted.
"Alright, let's go to his office and tell him to stop working and sleep now," Clarice said. She's not going to ask her husband to sleep. He might think she was eager to share a bed with him tonight.
"Okay," Caden replied with a smile.
The mother and son went to the office and knocked on the door.
Alpha Callum opened the door. He looked at his son. "What is it, son?" he asked.
"Can we sleep now, Daddy? I want to sleep in the same bed as you and Mommy so we can be a happy family again," Caden said, grabbing his father's hands, not letting go.
Alpha Callum smiled in amusement as he ruffled his son's hair lovingly. "Alright, let me turn off the light first," he said.
After turning off the light, they left the room and proceeded to the master bedroom.
Inside the master bedroom, Clarice and Caden get into bed while Alpha Callum enters the bathroom to brush his teeth.
A few minutes later, he joined his wife and son on bed.
Caden smiled brightly. "Hooray, my mommy is back again! We are complete again. I'm so happy!" he said, beaming joyously. He kissed his father's cheek and said, "I love you, Daddy!"
"I love you too, son!" Alpha Callum replied. His heart was bursting with love for his son.
Caden kisses his mother's cheeks. "I love you, Mom!"
"I love you so much, son," Clarice replied, kissing his head.
"Now, you can kiss each other, Mommy and Daddy!" Caden ordered mischievously.
The couple froze and looked at each other, feeling awkward.
Caden stared expectantly at his parents. He was waiting for them to kiss each other. "What's wrong, Mommy, Daddy? Why aren't you kissing each other yet? Kiss each other and say I love you. Do it now," he insisted, waiting impatiently for his parents to kiss each other.
Clarice refused to make the first move. She wouldn't initiate a kiss.
Caden looked at his father. "Daddy?"
Alpha Callum groaned. He quickly planted a kiss on his wife's cheeks and said, "I love you, wife," he said softly.
Clarice had no choice but to kiss her husband's cheeks as well. "I love you too, husband," she said, avoiding his intense gaze.
Caden giggled. "YAY! We are a happy family again! Now let's go to sleep. I'm sleepy," he said, yawning several times.
"Good night, son." Clarice draped the blanket over his sleeping form.
"Good night, son," Alpha Callum said.
"Goodnight, Mommy, Daddy!" Caden said and closed his eyes to sleep.
The couple stared at the ceiling of the room, listening to their son's gentle breathing.
Clarice can't help but shed a tear of happiness. Finally, she's home where she belongs!
She cried silently, feeling emotional. Tears of happiness flooded her face. Her sobs reached Alpha Callum's ears. He quickly rushed towards her side to comfort her.
"What happened, wife? Why are you crying?" he asked worriedly, pulling her into his arms.
"Nothing, I'm just happy I'm back home," she said, melting into his arms.
He rubbed her back gently, consoling her. "Shh, stop crying. Now that you are back and all your enemies are gone, nobody can separate us anymore," he said, kissing her head, putting the past behind them.
She raised her tear-stricken face and looked into his eyes. "Are you not mad at me anymore?" she asked, desperate to hear his answer because it was the only thing that could make her whole again. Before tragedy occurred, they had a perfect life filled with love and happiness. But after the tragedy, so many things happened, and she was afraid they would never be the same again.
But now she's back, she wants the same family again, built on love and trust. She would not settle for anything less. She needs to be sure that her husband still loves her unconditionally despite what she has done to Viviana.
Alpha Callum planted a kiss on her lips. "I'm no longer mad at you. I can't be mad at you forever. I realized that I could not blame you for other people's mistakes. Let's move on forward and live our lives as before: happy and peaceful. The most important thing is that when we wake up in the morning, we have each other, and our family is intact. That's all that really matters to me now."
Clarice cried softly as huge relief washed over her. Her heart was overflowing with happiness. She was eternally grateful because her husband and son had accepted her back into their lives after being gone for so long. She was afraid that at some point her family would not accept her anymore. But now she was very fortunate that they still loved her and needed her to complete their lives.
She finally stopped crying and wiped tears from her eyes. No need to cry anymore. She and her husband are ready to leave the past behind. Everything will be alright between them from now on.
Alpha Callum kissed her lips tenderly. "I'm glad you finally stopped crying. Let's take things easy, starting tomorrow. No more arguments between us. Instead, we will focus more on listening, understanding and compromise. Will that be okay with you?" he asked.
"Yessss!" she replied loudly, beaming happily.
"I love you so much, my wife," he whispered passionately. His heart was bursting with joy.
"I love you more, husband," Clarice replied sweetly.
They hugged each other lovingly, capturing each other's lips for a searing kiss that took their breath away, reigniting back the fire of love and desire in their hearts after being separated for a long time.
The couple slept peacefully that night entangled in each other's arms, ready to face tomorrow with renewed hope and unconditional love for each other.
