132. What Do You Want Me To Do?
In her invisible form, Clarice attended Aurelia's burial. She looked at her ex-husband with sympathy in her heart. In Alpha Bruce's eyes, she was already dead. Now, his second wife Aurelia was also dead. She wished he had found a better woman if he ever fell in love again.
For a moment, she wanted to show herself to him to console him, but her appearance might only confuse him even more. It's better to stay dead in her ex-husband's eyes because her marriage to him was over a long time ago. There is no need to add more complications to her current life.
Her relationship with her husband is still on the rocks. That is one thing she needs to fix.
'What if your husband connects the dots together, and he will find out that you killed his ex-wife Viviana? What are you going to do?' A tiny voice inside her head asks.
She ignored the question, believing that her husband would side with her instead of his dead ex-wife.
After Aurelia's casket was lowered onto the ground and flowers were thrown at her grave, Clarice left the cemetery.
She teleported to the Savage Howl Pack funeral home. She arrived just in time for Viviana's coffin being loaded into the funeral home's vehicle. The car moved forward, heading for the pack's cemetery.
She saw her husband, Beta Amir, and Grandpa Eliezer boarding the vehicle heading to the cemetery.
She followed the vehicle, hovering in the air. After a short journey, they arrived at the pack's cemetery.
After a few minutes of burial eulogies, Viviana's coffin was lowered to the ground and the pack members showered it with flowers, and then finally covered with soil.
Clarice stands a few meters away under the oak tree, staring up at her husband with deep longing in her eyes. She can see sadness in his eyes, but she can't blame him. Viviana's passing was unexpected. She was shocked and mad after discovering that Viviana had paid Kaspar $5 million for her death. It made her blood boil, and she knew she had to take revenge and did it without regrets.
The shocking revelation angered her and the only way to stop Viviana's evil deeds was to kill her without mercy.
From now on, anyone who plans to harm and kill her or any member of her family had better think twice. She will kill them without hesitation.
Meanwhile, Alpha Callum could feel Clarice's presence a few meters away. He glanced at the oak tree but saw no one there. Of course, his powerful wife is in her invisible form right now. He hopes his wife will stay longer in the cemetery.
He wants people to go home quickly so he can confront his wife and get a confession from her. It is the only way he can have peace of mind.
After the burial is over, the pack members begin leaving the cemetery; only Alpha Callum, Grandpa Eliezer, and Beta Amir are left in the cemetery.
"Grandpa, I can feel my wife's presence a few meters away. I wanted to talk to her in private. Can you please stay in the vehicle for a moment?" Alpha Callum requested.
"Sure, son," Grandpa Eliezer replied.
The two men walked to the vehicle and stayed inside.
Alpha Callum walks toward the oak tree. He could feel his wife's presence getting stronger as he came closer to the tree.
"Wife, I know you are here now. Can you please show yourself to me? I don't like talking to an invisible person," he requested in a mild tone.
Clarice took a deep breath. Should she show herself to her husband or just leave? Part of her is not ready yet, but her heart wants to fix the crack in their relationship. She needs to fix that problem before it grows so big she can no longer repair the fracture in their relationship.
In the blink of an eye, she became visible and faced her husband anxiously.
"I want to ask you, did you kill Viviana?" Alpha Callum asked her directly.
Clarice falls silent for a few minutes, debating whether she will tell the truth or lie. If she lies about it, her husband can't do anything, because there is no evidence that she murdered his ex-wife. Nobody saw her in the ocean with Viviana at the time of her death. She can lie and get away free.
"Aurelia, Kaspar and Viviana's deaths were all associated with drowning. You were thrown into the ocean and left to die. Their deaths are symbolic and don't tell me you have nothing to do with their deaths? Please answer me," Alpha Callum asked calmly.
Clarice could no longer deny his accusation. He has already figured it out, so what is the use of lying? "Yes, I'm responsible for their deaths. It'd been a long time coming, so I got my revenge when the opportunity presented itself. Can you blame me?"
Alpha Callum groaned. He didn't feel even an ounce of regret in his wife's voice. "Wife, killing Viviana is wrong on many levels. We have laws for everyone to respect and implement. We punish criminals according to the law. You are the Luna in our pack. As leaders, we must uphold the law. You can't just slaughter people because you are above everyone else," he scolded her.
Clarice sighed heavily, hurting inside. She doesn't like being questioned by her husband about killing her enemies. It's so damn annoying. "Viviana and Aurelia conspired and paid Kaspar $10 million to kill me. I killed them so they could no longer hurt other people. They had paid for their sins. What is there to argue about?" she asked, defending her actions. She hated explaining her actions to him.
"You should not have killed Viviana. I don't care about Kaspar and Aurelia. But Viviana's situation is different. I promised Viviana's father on his deathbed that I would protect his daughter, and now she has been killed by my own wife. It bothers me the most. Can you understand now why I'm reacting this way?" he said, wanting his wife to admit her mistake.
"So you want Viviana to rot in prison for her crime against me? And one day when your daughter grows up and begs you to release her mother, I'm sure you will release her out of pity. Is that what you want to happen?" she asked, enraged.
"She will be released after she serves her sentence, which is according to the law of our pack. We have to abide by it," he replied calmly.
Clarice sneered. "Because I didn't die, her sentence would have been lighter, and she would have gotten out of prison earlier based on the law. Then she will make plans to kill me again out of revenge. The cycle repeats itself. It's better I kill her to prevent future crimes from repeating. She won't be able to kill me easily, but she can easily kill you and our son. I'm just trying to protect my family from future danger," she explained.
Alpha Callum shook his head in annoyance. His wife is stubborn and never listens to him anymore. She became her own person, fierce, strong-willed and uncontrollable.
Clarice looked into his eyes. "So you are now condemning me because I killed my enemies? Killing the person who wanted to kill me is now a big mistake in your eyes? Can you just be happy that the bad guys did not succeed in murdering me, and I'm still alive? I wouldn't harm Viviana if she didn't plan on killing me first. She brought death upon herself. Stop blaming me for other people's mistakes. They reap what they sow."
The guilt in Alpha Callum's heart was still burning brightly. He still felt uneasy. He is dealing with a lot of emotions right now. A mixture of anger, disappointment and, at the same time, a deep longing for his family to be whole again is tormenting him.
Clarice stares at her husband's face with sadness glistening in her eyes. He is not ready yet to accept what she has done to Viviana. The pain is still fresh in his mind. Maybe one day he will learn to accept her again. "What exactly do you want me to do, dear husband? Do you want me to surrender, confess that I killed Viviana so you can punish me and put me in jail? Is that what you want? You want to set a good example for our pack members? Is that what you really want?"
Alpha Callum was silent. He asked himself the same question. Is that what he really wanted to happen? Sending his wife to jail to punish her for what she did to Viviana?
Her husband's silence annoyed Clarice deeply. He couldn't make up his mind. She felt frustrated.
It's time to leave. Staying longer in the cemetery and arguing with her husband will only make things worse between them. She doesn't want to say more that she will regret later.
"I have to leave now, dear husband. See you at some other time when you are ready to accept me. Goodbye for now," Clarice said, and disappeared from the area.
Alpha Callum sighed heavily. He could no longer feel his wife's presence. He felt sad and disappointed that his wife was quick to leave.
He walked towards the vehicle, sporting a gloomy expression on his face. He instructed Beta Amir to start the car and go home.
