64. Enemy Is Approaching
~Alpha Bruce Mansion~
One sunny afternoon at Alpha Bruce's mansion.
Aurelia was dressed in a classy dress meant to impress.
"Where are you going?" Alpha Bruce asked his wife.
"Darling, I'm going to my favorite beauty salon to have my hair and nails done, and I will meet my friends later in the Luna Association for a tea party," she answered.
"OK. I'm going to headquarters for my Alpha duties," he said.
"I'll see you tonight, darling," Aurelia said, kissing his cheeks lovingly.
Alpha Bruce kissed his wife on the lips, walked to the door and left.
Aurelia sat down on the chair, facing the dressing table. She picked up the comb and brushed her hair while admiring her reflection in the mirror.
Clarice is back...
She can feel it!
She put the golden necklace around her neck and put on her golden earrings, wanting to look fabulous in front of that mysterious woman when they met again to flaunt her wealth and superiority on her face.
Done fixing her appearance in the mirror, she picked up her luxurious bag and left the master bedroom, ready to find out the truth.
Outside the door, Kaspar was already waiting for her.
"Do we really need to do this?" Kaspar asked, grumbling.
Aurelia looked at him, annoyed. "Why? Are you afraid to see her again?"
"I don't see any reason why we should go there and harass a woman not related to our lives. I would rather stay here and swim in the pool, drink wine, watch endless movies on TV and enjoy my life. Why visit a stranger's home and create trouble?" Kaspar asked irritably.
Aurelia raised a brow and snapped at him. "Wow, is that you? You sound like an innocent person, coming from the person who poisoned to death an innocent woman?" she snapped irritably.
"And let's not forget who ordered me to do it?" Kaspar reminded her that she started it all, the mastermind of Clarice's downfall. "I'm just your servant who follows your orders, dear Aurelia."
"And you are enjoying the fruits of our labor, aren't we?" Aurelia said icily.
Kaspar smiled. "Yeah, I admit it. But please let's not create another drama in other people's homes. I like the peace and luxury we are enjoying right now. Why destroy it?" he said, trying to reason with her.
"Because you are getting complacent! That bride is Clarice. I can feel it from the bottom of my heart," Aurelia declared with firm persistence.
Kaspar rolled his eyes. "You are guilty of our past deeds. That is why you suspected a random woman was Clarice. Forget her, let's just move on!" he said, trying to convince her to give up her suspicion, fearing that her suspicion would only bring trouble to them in the near future.
Aurelia glared at him. "How can you be so careless? If Clarice is indeed Alpha Callum's wife, then she is more powerful than us. I bet she is already planning our downfall soon. We need to attack her first before she can do anything to destroy us! I need to see that woman's face, so I can be sure she is not Clarice. That's the only time I will stop worrying about her," she said.
Kaspar sighed heavily, not in the mood to go anywhere.
"I will ask you one last time. Do you want to come with me or not?" she asked.
Kaspar threw his hands in the air in exasperation. "What can I do? You are the boss. Let's go and finish your madness so we can have peace of mind."
Aurelia smiled wickedly, pleased with his cooperation. "I know you can't say no to me. We are partners in crime. We're in this together. My downfall is your downfall. It's only right that we work together to protect both our interests."
Kaspar sighed. "After we discover the truth that Luna Charice is not Clarice, you should stop stalking that woman, okay?" he asked.
"Of course! The only reason I was bothered by her was because of the similarity of her voice to Clarice. She aroused my suspicions," Aurelia explained.
"Alright, let's go now," Kaspar said. "Wait, did you inform Alpha Callum's household that we are coming over to pay Luna Charice a visit?" he asked.
Aurelia shook her head. "No."
His eyes widened. "Then they won't accept us in their home because you didn't inform them in advance," he said, pointing to the obvious.
"It's better not to inform that woman. We will visit her on the spot, take her by surprise so we can catch her when she least expects it. If she is not Clarice, she doesn't mind our impromptu visit. She has nothing to worry about since we came for a friendly visit," Aurelia elaborated further.
"And what if she doesn't see us?" he asked.
"Then that's weird, right? Why can't she talk to us for a few minutes? She refused the Luna Association gathering, and now she refuses to see me in person. That's really suspicious. Alright, let's get going," Aurelia said, stepping forward.
"Fine!" Kaspar said, catching up with her.
They left the mansion, got into Aurelia's luxurious car and started their journey towards Alpha Callum's residence. Kaspar was driving the car.
Aurelia was busy browsing her phone.
He glanced briefly at his companion. "What are you doing?" he asked.
"Browse the internet looking for any records of Charice Evans," Aurelia replied without looking at him. "Just focus on your driving. Eyes on the road!" she reminded him.
"Yes, boss," Kaspar said wryly, looking ahead.
Aurelia can't find any previous photos of Charice Evans online. She has no social media presence. There are no photos of Alpha Callum dating his new wife. Charice doesn't have a single photo of her associated with the Savage Howl Pack's latest and previous events.
"This is strange, it seems Charice came into Alpha Callum's life out of nowhere. I wonder where and how they met?" Aurelia asked aloud.
"There are no photos of her because, according to the rumors circulating during the divorce proceedings, Charice is Alpha Callum's hidden mistress, and they had a child together during their teenage years," Kaspar filled in the missing information.
"Interesting!" Aurelia's eyes shimmered. "And they had a son together?"
"Yes, as far as I know, Clarice didn't have any children with Alpha Bruce. That alone can prove that Charice is not Clarice," he quipped.
"You know nothing about Clarice's deepest secret," Aurelia corrected him. "Can't you see? Charice and Clarice rhyme so well? Even their names are so alike, the same reason why their voices were quite similar."
Kaspar shakes his head and focuses on driving.
After one hour of travel, they finally arrived at their destination.
"Alpha Callum's security is so strict, we need to pass two gates, our car will be checked thoroughly, and no weapons are allowed inside," Kaspar said, surprised.
"Let them check we have nothing to hide," Aurelia said calmly.
They stopped at the first guardhouse for a vehicle inspection after getting a go signal. Aurelia rolled down the car window and waited for the approaching guard.
"What is your purpose for the visit, ma'am?" the guard asked.
"I am Luna Aurelia of the Bloodhound Pack, Chairperson of the Luna Association Incorporated. I'm here to pay Luna Charice a friendly visit," she answered in a voice filled with authority.
"OK. I'll inform Luna Charice of your visit, ma'am," the guard said.
Aurelia nodded her head. "Yes, please."
The guard returned to his post and made a call to the mansion using a handheld radio.
Aurelia and Kaspar waited in silence for the response, coming from the mansion looming in the distance.
