16: So Damn Annoying!
When afternoon came, the couple went to the lake.
Luna Viviana wants to spend the night in the lake. She just wants to have a romantic evening with her husband and make love in the starry night.
The evening was fast approaching.
"Let's swim in the water naked then make love all night long," she suggested naughtily, discarding her clothes.
Alpha Callum shook his head. "Not tonight. I'm not in the mood," he refused politely.
She pouted up a storm. "What's wrong with you, hon? Why are you no longer interested in making love with me? How can we conceive if we don't have sex?" she asked, deeply hurt by his refusal to have intimate moments with her.
"I said, I'm not in the mood," he replied irritably.
Her face darkened. Tears shimmered in her eyes. "You don't find me attractive anymore? You don't love me anymore?" she asked bitterly. Tears glistened in her eyes.
Alpha Callum groaned. He was not in the mood to entertain his wife's tantrum.
"Wait, you never told me that you loved me even once. Why is that?" she asked dejectedly.
He sighed. "You already know why. Let's stop talking about this."
"You still can't forget your fated mate who left you, who betrayed you in the past? Who is she? You never told me about her name," she said in a dispirited tone.
"There is no need to mention her name. Our relationship was over a long time ago. Can you please stop bringing back my past?" he said angrily.
"Now you are yelling at me. Why are you angry? What's going on with you, hon?" she asked. Tears filled her eyes.
"You noticed every little thing about me. It's not all the time that I will humor your whims. So please stop being a spoiled brat and grow up," he growled indignantly.
She glared at him. "What did you say? I'm not a spoiled brat! I'm just trying to tell you that something is wrong with you. But you are not opening up to me. Let's talk about it. Now!" She said indignantly.
"That's the problem with you! You fill your mind with negative things. You always suspect me. You never trust me at all," he said, annoyed.
Her eyes grew bigger. "I always trust you. But sometimes I feel like I'm not good enough for you. I'm afraid that you will leave me one day because I can't give you a child."
"You and your insecurity are damn annoying!" he said in a vexed tone.
Luna Viviana was shocked by his outburst. They have never had a big quarrel for a long time until now. He was always patient in dealing with her outbursts and tolerated all her tantrums. But now he yelled at her angrily. She felt like he had become a new person overnight.
Where is her old husband? She doesn't like the new one!
She bit her lip in distress. This alarming new personality of her husband is something that she can't live with.
"You promised me on my father's deathbed that you would take care of me, and you would never abandon me and the pack. He entrusted the Savage Howl Pack into your hands because he believed in your ability to lead the pack to greater glory. And now that you have achieved your goal, you are showing your true colors? Are you going to kick me out of the pack that my father worked so hard to build?" she asked resentfully, her eyes spitting venom.
"Dammit! Don't you dare bring your father's memories to our conversation today? As far as I know, I didn't abandon you. We're still husband and wife. So why are you trying to stir trouble this time?" He scowled at his wife.
Alpha Callum was instantly flooded with memories of the past.
Luna Viviana's father is one of the leaders of the notorious rogue packs that attack villages, killing innocent civilians and wolves alike, stealing other people's belongings and livelihoods. He joined the Savage Howl Pack with a solid plan and a purpose. Slowly he gained the old man's trust and became his right hand.
When one of their attacks went wrong, Luna Viviana's father was gravely wounded, leaving the pack and his spoiled daughter in his care. On his deathbed, he promised the dying ruthless leader that he would marry his daughter, make her his Luna and take care of her for the rest of his life.
He became the supreme leader of the Savage Howl Pack. He and his men attacked all the rogue packs left and right, enslaving them, creating the biggest rogue pack in the entire East District. He implemented good reforms, including banning killing and looting. He encouraged the pack members to toil on their land, grow crops and raise domestic animals for their livelihood.
After Alpha Callum succeeded in uniting all the rogue packs, peace finally landed on the East District, turning the once bloodthirsty rogue packs into a peace-loving pack. He earned the admiration and respect of other pack leaders because he was the only one who was able to finally put a stop to senseless killings and looting.
His wife thought he owed his success to her deceased father, but it was the other way around. He hated killing and looting the most, which is why he worked hard to put a stop to it. Transforming the cruel rogue packs into a peace-loving pack was his biggest achievement so far.
"You didn't raise your voice to me before! What's wrong with you?" she asked indignantly.
"Because you always try to belittle me and my hard work. You always remind me that without your father's pack I'm nothing. That's why sometimes I hate your guts," he said in a cold, hard tone.
Nostrils flaring, she stared at his face for a long time. She hesitated for a moment. Should she continue antagonizing him or just shut up and say no more? This is the first time their heated argument has got out of hand.
"Let's stop quarreling. Let's go home so you can rest and sleep. You will feel better tomorrow," he said calmly.
Shivering, she donned her clothes, grabbed everything and put them in the bag. She walked on the path leading back to the farm house without looking at her husband.
Alpha Callum followed his wife in silence.
The couple arrive at the farm house still not talking to each other. They entered the house and stood in the middle of the living room still in a sour mood.
"You will sleep alone tonight. Don't wait for me. I'm going somewhere," he said in a cold tone.
She looked at him in shock and disbelief. "What? W-where are you going?" she asked, her blood boiling. He wouldn't even try to talk to her and fix their problem. He would just leave her alone, simmering in pain and anger. How dare he?
He didn't reply, instead he walked briskly towards the door.
She was annoyed that he ignored her completely. "Where are you going? To your mistress?" she asked angrily.
"None of your damn business!" Alpha Callum grabbed the doorknob and exited the house.
Luna Vivian was left alone in the middle of the living room, seething in anger.
Meanwhile, still in a bad mood, Alpha Callum stood outside the house, confused about where to go.
"Ah, I know where to go," he muttered to himself.
A few moments later, he disappeared from the area, teleporting himself somewhere.
