102. Do You Care?
Clarice glared at Demetria. "Are you pressuring me? Is this your way of forcing me to kill bad people by going after those kidnappers who abducted the missing children and women?"
Demetria nodded her head. "Yeah. You have a reason to kill because you are going to save lives!"
"No, I'm not going to do it! I'm not some kind of superwoman that saves the weak and punishes the bad people. This is your scheme, not mine!" Clarice argued fiercely.
Demetria sighed heavily, disappointed with Clarice's unwillingness to do the right thing. "Sometimes I really wonder if you are fit to be my successor? You are too stubborn, too difficult to convince, dear," she said in a frustrated tone.
Clarice refused to be swayed. "Forget it! I'm not going anywhere today! Why don't you go and save them yourself?" she suggested indifferently, but deep inside she knew people's lives were in danger and only Demetria could save them.
"Where is the fun in that? We will go there and save them all. You and me," Demetria replied in a determined tone. "Just remember, every minute that passes by innocent children's lives is lost because you refuse to do anything. What if things like this happen to your very own son? He will be kidnapped, his organs removed from his body to be sold on the black market and then his dead body is dissolved in acid to hide his remains forever. Can you stomach it?" she added.
Clarice covered her ears with both hands, terrified of the possibility. "Stop it! I'm not going to listen to you!"
Demetria shrugged. "Fine. We will just sit here in front of the TV, enjoying our lives and eating junk food to fill our stomachs while people die out there. Your choice, dear."
Clarice is getting restless. The thought of innocent children dying every single minute nags her conscience.
"Why don't you inform the police right now?" Clarice suggested.
Demetria chuckles. "Before the police arrived, the place was already clean, and the human kidnappers were gone. All the evidence is destroyed because these types of organizations have high-profile protectors inside and outside the government. If we come there unannounced, we can easily stop and punish them. Our execution style of punishment will strike fear into the hearts of future criminals."
"What is your plan?" Clarice asked. "I'm scared of getting hit by a bullet in my head and anywhere in my body. I'm sure those people are heavily armed," she said, voicing her fears.
"My plan is to kill everyone except the guards, so the police authorities can interrogate them and, hopefully, they can find the mastermind of the human trafficking organization and put an end to the kidnapping of innocent civilians all over the country. We are talking about an organized syndicate here. But let's not discuss those things further. We need to act quickly because innocent people are being killed right now!" Demetria said hurriedly.
Clarice is still undecided.
"I'll give you five minutes to decide. Do nothing or do something before it's too late!" Demetria gives her the ultimatum.
"Wait, how did you discover the kidnapper's den?" Clarice asked.
"The other night, I was hovering in the air a few kilometers away from here when I noticed three delivery vans moving on the highway. Out of boredom, I followed the vehicles. They stopped at this heavily guarded private place and unloaded their victims, young children, women and teenagers. After a quick search of the area, I saw the horrific activity of these people. That's when I realized I had to take you there so you could kill without remorse. Those despicable people are meant to die. We saved the victims, we also killed the perpetrators, hitting two birds with one stone," Demetria explained.
Clarice went silent. Is this really her calling? To punish bad people?
"Five minutes are up, Clarice. Decide now!" Demetria demanded an answer.
Clarice closed her eyes for a moment, suddenly hearing desperate cries of help from children and women from afar.
"Clarice, people are losing their lives! Hurry up with your decision!" Demetria snapped with urgency in her voice.
Clarice opened her eyes. "Alright, take me there now!"
Demetria smiled. "About damn time!" she said in relief, grinning in elation. She immediately waved her hand all over Clarice, enveloping her in a transparent jelly-like invisible shield.
"What are you doing?" Clarice asked.
"I'm coating your entire body with a powerful invisible shield, so no weapon can harm or penetrate your skin. You are now indestructible and invisible. Let's go!" Demetria said, grabbing Clarice's hand.
The women disappeared from the living room.
A few minutes later, they hovered in the air above private farmland raising poultry and livestock.
They landed on the ground beside three empty delivery trucks parked on the vast lawn.
Clarice was terrified to see a dozen armed guards patrolling the area. "I'm scared," she said, her voice trembling.
"Relax, dear. They can't see, hear, or harm us. Don't fret. I will freeze all these people inside and outside. Watch me," Demetria said.
"OK," Clarice replied, relaxing a little. She watched Demetria hover in the air and unleash her power, freezing the armed guards patrolling inside and outside the area. She felt relieved when the two guards near her stopped moving. Demetria is indeed powerful.
Demetria landed back on the ground. "Wait here, I'll go inside the building and freeze everyone so you can have an easy viewing without suffering from heart attack."
"OK, please do that," Clarice replied.
Demetria walked to the main door and passed through the wall like a ghost and disappeared.
Clarice looked around her. The only sound she could hear was the loud beating of her heart.
A few minutes later, the door opened and Demetria motioned for her to enter the building. She ran to the door.
"Relax, dear, I already froze everyone. I will give you a peaceful tour of this hellish place," Demetria said, leading the way.
They come to the room where operating tables with unconscious bodies on top are lined up. Several people wearing surgical white masks can be seen holding knives, leaning towards women and children in different positions. Some are in the process of opening the stomach, cutting organs and so on.
Everyone in the room was frozen like a statue.
The scene shocked Clarice. It felt like she was inside a big operating room where doctors were tending to their patients. But the terrifying truth prevails. This is an illegal organ harvesting facility.
"This is where these heartless doctors illegally harvest organs to sell to buyers. Let's move to the other room," Demetria explained.
Appalled by the horrific things she saw inside the room, Clarice was livid with anger. "Why are these people doing horrible things?" she asked in utter shock and disbelief.
"Because of the love of money. People are greedy. They want to earn more to satisfy their greed and inner desire. Taking part in illegal activities gives them more money," Demetria replied, her mouth twisting in disgust.
"Take me out of here!" Clarice said, suffocated by the brutality of the scene.
"Alright, let's go to the next room," Demetria said glumly.
The next room they visited was filled with drums; the stench of death and rotting bodies filled the air.
