116. Cold Blooded
"Are you shocked to see yourself inside the glass coffin? You look like twins!" Demetria said, smiling in amusement.
Clarice couldn't believe she had finally met her doppelganger, but unfortunately, she was lying inside the coffin. "I was shocked indeed! This is unbelievable!" She admitted, astounded.
Demetria said, "Are you curious what she has done to deserve this?"
"Yes please. Tell me," Clarice replied with intense curiosity flashing in her eyes.
Demetria begins her narration. "Number 3 loves studying medicine and plans to become a chemist. But she created a deadly virus and tested it on a small human village, wiping out the entire population. No one survives."
"That's horrible! What kind of virus?" Clarice asked, shocked.
"No one really knows what kind of virus it is, but according to the elders' investigations, it was airborne. She released the virus in the air during the daytime and this lady refused to reveal what kind of virus she had made in her home laboratory. She hid her dark murderous secret in the deepest recesses of her sick mind. If she were not apprehended early she would surely test her creation on a lot of people, probably in towns or cities, and millions would die." Demetria ended her narration.
"Oh." Clarice sighed, feeling sad, devastated by what she had discovered about her doppelganger. She could never think of hurting an innocent person, but this woman is cruel and merciless. Her complete opposite. "I will never be like her," she declared solemnly.
"I believe you," Demetria said, walking away from the coffin. "Alright, let's head to the last two rooms."
Clarice looked at her doppelganger's face one last time. That was the moment she saw something shocking. The woman suddenly opened her eyes and winked at her. It happened so fast that when she blinked her eyes, the woman's eyes were closed again. "Wait! Something has happened just now!" she yelled apprehensively.
"What is it?" Demetria asked, rushing back to the coffin.
"This woman opened her eyes and winked at me!" Clarice blurted nervously.
"Whaaaat? Are you sure?" Demetria asked in disbelief. She observed the woman's face closely, looking for any signs of movement.
"Yes, I saw it. I didn't make it up. Please believe me!" Clarice insists. "Let's wait for a minute, maybe her eyes will open again."
"OK, let's observe her for a few minutes. I want to see it with my own eyes," Demetria finally agreed.
They stared at the woman's face for nearly half an hour but nothing happened.
Demetria shrugged. "I think what you see is only a product of your imagination, dear," she said, dismissing her student's claim.
"Maybe," Clarice responded sheepishly. "I'm sorry for wasting your time," she apologized.
"No problem. Let's now proceed to the next room," Demetria responded, walking towards the misty door on the wall.
Clarice followed her mentor to the next room. She knew what she had seen, yet she no longer insisted because Demetria would not believe her claim.
She believed that her doppelganger was playing tricks on her. She won't pay much attention to her next time and won't linger too long in her room.
They entered room number 2.
Demetria was already looking down at the person lying in the glass coffin.
Clarice approached the coffin and looked at the man lying inside the coffin who was in his early 60's. "What's his case?"
"He is the leader of an underground syndicate who operates human trafficking and sells their victims outside the country for various purposes, such as sex slaves, illegal and forced prostitution, child labor and many evil practices. He has a human partner who was killed by elders," Demetria explained.
Clarice sighed. "Evil vampires and evil humans form a connection together, hurting innocent people. I hate men like them. No empathy for others, so evil!" she said, clenching her teeth in anger.
"Yeah, so ruthless, I would love to slit their throat if given the chance," Demetria commented coldly.
"Too bad, these evil creatures do not know how to live a good life. What a shame," she commented, enraged.
"These vampires are talented, they have awesome powers, and yet they abuse their powers and kill many innocent people. Some people are not worthy of being given such talents and powers," Demetria stated glumly.
"Agree!" Clarice muttered irritably. "Can we go to the next room now? I want to see the last one," Clarice suggested. Staring at the guy's face for a long time made her blood boil. What a piece of shit!
"OK, let's go." Demetria marched on.
The women proceeded to the last room. They entered the room and gazed at the person in the coffin.
"Wow, so beautiful! She looks so young, about 17 or 18," Clarice commented. "Why is she here? What had she done?" she asked, confused, trying to figure out what the young woman could have done to earn a spot in the hibernation chamber among the forsaken vampires.
"Take a guess at what this young lady has done in her short time here on earth," Demetria said, fixing her gaze on the girl's beautiful face.
"Um, did she poison her family? Her entire relatives?" Clarice replied, trying to make a guess.
"Wrong guess. Try again," Demetria responded.
"She drowned someone? She stabbed 100 people in the middle of a busy sidewalk?" Clarice took another guess again, but when her mentor shook her head, she finally ran out of ideas. She scratched her head. No matter how hard she tries, she cannot think anymore. "I have no idea. She looks like an angel to me. So harmless," she said, unsure of herself.
"Alright, enough of the guessing games," Demetria said, then continued, "This girl was gifted with powers that not all vampires have. She can summon fire, water, wind and thunder."
Clarice's eyes widened in shock. "Wow, amazing!" She blurted in amazement.
"Yeah, unfortunately, she used her powers in a wrong way. She burned several buildings in the city, flooded the entire town, and brought down a passenger plane carrying 250 passengers using strong winds and thunder. That's how remorseless and savage this girl was. And when she was asked by the elders why she did it, she answered that humans are like toys for her to be played with and destroyed. She has no empathy for others. She is simply an evil incarnate, so merciless and ruthless, and the world is much safer if she is locked up here in her hibernation chambers for eternity," Demetria said crossly, ending her long narration.
"Damn!" Clarice's admiration for the girl quickly faded, replaced by contempt, appalled by the girl's ferocious personality. "So pretty yet so evil. She indeed deserved a spot here. Forsaken and forgotten to pay for her notoriety," she commented coldly.
Heavy silence enveloped the room for a moment.
Clarice cleared her throat. "Um, I have a question? Can I also summon strong winds and thunder? I have not tried them yet."
Demetria nodded her head. "Yes, you can. Just try harder and practice more. I can summon wind and thunder occasionally, but I don't really need them much because I have no plan to bring down a plane just like this young girl here. You only need excellent freezing technique, invisibility, agility and the willingness to annihilate an army of unsuspecting enemies, and you will emerge victorious all the time," she elaborated further.
"Ah, okay. Good to know that. I will try them one day," Clarice said, smiling brightly.
"The key is to keep practicing so you can wield your powers easily whenever you need them," Demetria added.
"Noted," Clarice replied.
"Alright, let's head to the next room. I had a feeling that if we stayed here longer this girl might open her eyes and wink at you and beg you to release her from her glass coffin," Demetria jokes, walking towards the mist door.
"Yeah, right. I'm scared!" Clarice admitted sheepishly, laughing softly.
When they arrived in the last room, Clarice was surprised by what she saw. Number 1 was lying peacefully in his coffin, looking so young. "What the heck is going on? This boy is just a child! He looks ten years old. What could he possibly have done?" She blurted in shock, shaking her head as numerous heinous crimes began to swirl in her mind.
"Correction, dear, he is already 15 years old, but he does look younger than his age. This boy showed notoriety when he was just ten years old. His mind-control skills are excellent. He controlled the minds of the students in his school by fighting each other. He laughed in glee when everyone started fighting each other, teachers against teachers, students against students. He enjoyed seeing the raw violence happening in front of him. Grandpa Mortaz arrived and stopped him. Because of his young age, he tried to rehabilitate this cunning boy for a few months, but when he was released again, the boy did it again at another school. This time, school staff attacked and killed each other in front of him. To prevent such violence from happening again, he was locked up here along with others," Demetria stated, finally ending her narration.
"Whoa, he is like a master puppeteer!" Clarice gushed in horror.
"Yeah, more like that. If he grows older, he might inflict more damage every time he goes out in public. You can imagine the rest... cars, planes and shapes colliding with each other. All of a sudden, people on the streets are killing each other and the horrific list is endless," Demetria added in a horrified tone.
"So young, so evil." Clarice shuddered.
"Finally, we are done here. It's time to leave," Demetria said, waving her hand, teleporting them back to the living room on the first floor.
