99. The Next Step
Viviana refused to give in to the nun's mind game. She must not lose her focus on begging for mercy. "Sister, please have mercy on me. I want to go home, my baby daughter needs me!" she said in desperation.
"Dear, have you been good lately? Did you not commit any sin?" Clarice asked.
Viviana was confused for a moment. Why is this nun asking her about private stuff like this? Ah, because nuns served God, the divine entity that humans served and obeyed. "Yes! I'm a good person. I mean, I didn't harm anyone! Please believe me!" she said convincingly.
"Dear, you should strive to be a good person. Don't hurt anyone. Never venture on the bad side or else karma will catch up with you. Do you understand?" Clarice asked.
"Yes! I will never hurt anyone. I will never do bad things. Please help me leave this place. Have mercy on me and my baby daughter. My little baby needs me," she pleaded fearfully for her safety.
Clarice fell silent for a moment. She couldn't bring herself to harm Viviana. She has a little baby waiting for her back home and that baby girl happens to be her husband's daughter. "Alright, I'll try to ask my brother to release you, but you must promise me that you will be a good girl from now on. Don't be a bad person, okay?"
Viviana nodded her head vigorously. "Yes. I'll be good, I won't harm anyone. Thank you for saving me! I owe you my life!" she said, desperately hoping the nun could successfully convince her brother to release her.
"Stay here and behave. I will find my brother and ask him to bring you home." Clarice walked away, heading to the door.
Viviana watched as the nun left the room. She ran to the door and tried to open it but failed. Frustrated, she returned to bed and waited for a miracle to happen.
Outside...
In the living room, Demetria and Clarice were having a heated discussion.
"Let's keep Viviana here for a few days to teach her a lesson," Demetria suggested, hoping Clarice would change her mind and eventually kill her rival.
"No. Let her go home. She had a baby daughter to take care of and people there would get confused as to why she disappeared without a trace. Viviana's disappearance is an added headache for my husband." Clarice vehemently opposed Demetria's decision.
Demetria was shaking her head in annoyance. "You are too kind, dear. Wake up!"
Clarice shrugged. "Just let her go home safely. Don't force me to become an evil person. I have my own judgement. Can you please return her to my husband's mansion? I'm going back to sleep," she said calmly.
"Are you sure about this?" Demetria asked in an irked tone.
"I'm sure 100%. Please don't ask me again," Clarice said with a finality in her voice.
"OK, fine!" Demetria said irritably, accepting defeat. She watched Clarice walk in the direction of her room.
Demetria was shaking her head in annoyance. Clarice is not an easy person to mold according to her preferences. Clarice is very kind-hearted. She needs to loosen up a little and unleash her bad side.
The guardian of the house must be a good person inside and out. Then she must also be a kick-ass heroine. She must know when to unleash her bad side and kill if needed.
Feeling restless, Demetria lies down on the sofa and falls into deep thoughts. If she allows Clarice to defy her and oppose her plans, nothing will happen. That woman is too slow to decide. She is annoying as hell, but she is the only one fit for the role.
She fell into deep silence, thinking of an efficient way to unleash Clarice's bad side.
Suddenly, a brilliant idea popped up in her mind.
If Clarice refused to kill Viviana, she might as well abduct Kaspar and Aurelia and imprison them in the basement. Once Clarice knows about their presence, she won't be able to say no to revenge. She will kill her enemies with her own hands!
A perfect plan!
For now, she will bring Viviana back to Alpha Callum's mansion before everyone finds out about her disappearance. She rose to her feet and walked in the direction of the basement. She entered the room and put Viviana into a deep sleep. Then she teleported Viviana back to her room in Alpha Callum's mansion.
Done, Demetria teleported back to her invisible house at the top of the mountain and rested in her room on the 3rd floor.
The following day...
In Alpha Callum's mansion, Viviana woke up with a slight headache. She noticed that she was still wearing her sexy red lingerie. She roamed her eyes around the room. Huge relief washed over her after noticing she was now back in her room at her ex-husband's mansion.
Wait a minute, was her nightmare last night a dream?
Were the monster guy and the nun part of her dream?
She shook her head several times, trying to find answers to her questions. The last time she remembered, she begged the nun to save her. The nun left the room. She sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for her fate. Then, after a few minutes of waiting, the door opened and the monster guy returned, and she instantly felt sleepy. She drifted into a deep slumber.
That was the end of it.
The next time she opened her eyes, she was back in her room and a new day had just begun.
She can safely conclude now that she was just dreaming about the monster and the nun. If the nightmare was real, she would already be dead by now.
She was thankful that her nightmare was just a dream. She hoped she would never dream of them again.
She got up from bed, entered the bathroom to start her day.
A few minutes later, she went to the nanny's room and checked on her baby daughter. Her daughter was still sleeping soundly in her crib. She left the room and went downstairs to join her husband in the dining room. She was hungry.
She found Alpha Callum and Caden eating breakfast in the dining room. "Good morning guys!" she greeted them, flashing her bright smile.
"Good morning, Auntie," Caden responded with a smile.
Alpha Callum nodded his head. "Have a seat. Where is my daughter?" he asked.
"Still sleeping in her crib," Viviana replied. She picked up the utensils, put food on her plate and began eating. She sneaked a glance at her ex-husband's face, wondering where he was last night. Did he sleep and retire to his bed early?
She will ask him later. She continued to eat her meal in silence.
After they finished their meal, they went to the living room. Caden started playing with his toys on the floor.
Viviana looked at her ex-husband, sitting on the sofa, reading the newspaper across from her. She cleared her throat and said, "Um, Alpha, can I ask you a question?"
Alpha Callum put down the newspaper and looked at his ex-wife. "Go ahead. What is it?"
"Um, did you sleep early last night? I went to the balcony to join you, but I didn't see you there," she said, studying his face closely.
"I had a headache and went to bed early," Alpha Callum replied coldly, and continued reading the newspaper.
Viviana bit her lower lip, disappointed that her ex-husband avoided her, knowing she wanted to sleep with him last night in his bedroom. He really is not interested in getting back together with her. He was clearly avoiding her now.
She rose to her feet dejectedly and walked towards the staircase, climbing up the stairs, heading to the second floor to tend to her baby daughter.
Back in the sacred house, Demetria can be seen staring at the horizon in front of her.
Clarice wants power, wants to go home to see her family but is hesitating to accept the responsibility she is willing to entrust in her hands.
The only thing that can speed up the process is to force Clarice to kill three bad people. Transform her into a vampire, perform the blood ritual and train her on how to use her power. The last step is to introduce her to the vampire community as the next guardian of the sacred house.
Abducting Kaspar and Aurelia and imprisoning them in the basement might speed up the process of ushering Clarice as the next guardian of the sacred house.
Why not?
After all, nothing and no one can stop her. She is free to explore all her options. Demetria smiled and disappeared in the blink of an eye, going somewhere.
