110. One Of A Kind
Demetria gently pushed Clarice's head away from her index finger. "That's enough for your first taste of blood, dear."
"But it's not enough! Your blood tastes like honey, so sweet. I want more!" Clarice protested, blood trickling down her lips.
Demetria shook her head firmly. "That's all for now. You will start vomiting if you drink too much on your first blood feed. Allow your body to get used to the taste of blood first, and you can drink more later."
"Fine!" Clarice grumbled, upset.
"All you need to do is rest. You've been sleeping for three days, and you only woke up today," Demetria said, standing up.
"Whaaaat?" Clarice exclaimed, shocked. She glanced at the window. It's daytime. "Three days? Are you sure?" she asked, incredulously.
"Yup!" Demetria responds. "I'm surprised to discover that, during the three days of your transformation, your fangs have not shown yet. But I'm still relieved because you crave blood, which means you now have a vampire essence in you. You are a vampire minus the fangs. Your case is unique though. The first ever in the history of vampires in this world," she added in astonishment.
"Oh, is that a good thing?" Clarice asked, confused. She used to believe that after her transformation she would have two scary sharp fangs appearing in her mouth just like her mentor.
"Yes, it will be good for you. Your son won't notice that his mother is now a vampire. Isn't that amazing? But don't celebrate too early yet. Your fangs might still grow in the days to come. If not, then don't worry, you will still be the chosen guardian of this sacred mountain," Demetria said reassuringly.
Suddenly, Clarice shakes her head. She felt dizzy. Her head hurt.
"What is it? What's wrong?" Demetria asked worriedly.
Clarice placed her hands on her head. "I don't know. I feel dizzy, my head hurts," she said, lying down again, grimacing in pain.
"Go back to sleep. You are not well yet. After a few days, your condition will improve. Since I was born a vampire naturally, I haven't gone through all you've been through, so everything is new to me as well," Demetria explained.
"OK, I'm going back to sleep." Clarice covered her body with the blanket and closed her eyes.
Demetria waited until she heard Clarice's soft snoring before she left the room.
Clarice fell into a deep sleep, dreaming of coming home, hugging her son in her arms and resting her head in her husband's loving arms.
She fell asleep soundly for several hours and when she woke up it was already nighttime.
It's happening again. She feels thirsty and hungry!
She got up from the bed and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Ugh! She looks like a walking mess. Her messy hair hung loosely on her back, some strands covering her face. She felt dirty, and her body was hot after having taken no bath for a few days.
She went to the bathroom and took a quick shower to cool down the heat she felt circulating in her body.
After she finished bathing, she felt better. She stood in front of the mirror, opened her mouth wide and looked for fangs growing inside her mouth but found none. She was extremely glad that things turned out this way. She had turned into a vampire without fangs!
Perfect!
Now she needs to leave her room, go to the kitchen and prepare some food to alleviate the growing hunger and thirst she feels inside.
While preparing food in the kitchen, she realized she might no longer find the taste of human food pleasing to her taste buds because her vampire self prepares blood more than anything else. But she refused to go to Demetria's room and disturb her solitude, demanding her blood.
Sighing heavily, she sat on the chair and took a big bite of the sandwich, munching it ravenously, expecting herself to gag. To her absolute surprise, the taste of the bread in her mouth was still the same. Nothing has changed! She can still eat human food without any problems.
Wow, fantastic!
Tears of happiness fell down her eyes. It's such a welcome relief that she can still eat ordinary foods without a problem.
After she finished eating the sandwich, she made herself a cup of hot coffee, went to the living room and sat on the sofa. She sipped her coffee, enjoying the moment because her headache and dizziness were completely gone, replaced by a glorious inner peace enveloping her senses.
After she finished her coffee, she looked around her. What to do to pass her idle time? She doesn't feel like going back to sleep.
She stood up and began pacing back and forth on the floor. The feeling of extreme hunger and thirst returned again. Dang it! What's going on? She just ate a meal. Why is she hungry again?
Where is Demetria?
Dammit! She needs to eat again!
She went to the kitchen, grabbed the instant noodles cup from the cupboard, boiled the water quickly and, a few minutes later, she was already gobbling up her hot, delicious noodle soup.
But after she finished eating, what the heck? She still felt hungry!
What is she going to do now? She realized that her vampire self needed to be fed with blood.
She needs to ask Demetria for some blood or else she will go crazy. She left the kitchen, climbed the staircase and met Demetria halfway up the second floor.
"Ah, you're already awake. What's wrong, dear?" Demetria asked, noticing the anxious look on her trainee's face.
"I felt hungry and thirsty, so I ate a sandwich and drank hot coffee, including a cup of instant noodles. All is well. They still taste the same and my stomach accepts those foods without any problems. However, despite eating all those foods, I'm still hungry and thirsty. I think I need to drink blood to quench my thirst," she explained, her voice sounding urgent and troubled.
"That's not a problem, dear. Calm down." Demetria smiled in relief. "Worry not, my blood is yours. Let's go to your room so you can feed on my blood, then you must rest afterward."
"OK," Clarice murmured.
A few minutes later, the women are back in Clarice's room.
The knife appeared in Demetria's hands, and she proceeded to cut her index finger and offer fresh blood to her trainee.
Clarice salivated at the sight of fresh blood. She quickly grabbed and sucked her mentor's index finger.
After a few minutes of sucking blood, Clarice stopped after she got her fill.
"Are you done? Are you satisfied with your fill?" Demetria asked.
"Yes. Thank you for your blood," Clarice said in relief. "I feel much better now. The thirst and hunger are completely gone."
"That's good to hear, dear," Demetria said, standing up. "Rest well and see you tomorrow."
Clarice watched Demetria heading for the door. "Wait, can I drink animal blood instead of human blood?"
Demetria looked over her shoulder and said, "You mean pig and chicken blood?"
"Yes, as an alternative..." Clarice replied expectantly.
"Yes, you can try their blood. I'm not sure if you find the taste of their blood delicious though, but you can try," Demetria replied.
"OK. Thanks!" Clarice felt glad there were other options available.
Demetria exited the room.
Clarice stared at the ceiling in her room, sighing heavily. She hated drinking human blood. Maybe animal blood will be sufficient to satisfy her cravings for blood. How will she know if she doesn't try?
Ah, she will just ask Demetria to bring her some live chickens so she can try their blood. If animal blood is acceptable to her taste, she will train herself to drink animal blood. She can raise lots of chickens on Grandpa's farm for blood consumption after she returns home. That wouldn't be a problem.
If Grandpa Eliezer doesn't give her permission, she can always buy a farm property and hire workers to raise chickens for her blood needs. Problem solved!
She hoped and wished her fangs would not appear anymore so she could still feel the same.
She slept peacefully that night, looking forward to finishing her training and going home.
The following day.
Clarice woke up on a rainy day. The rain fell hard outside the window of her room.
What a sad day to wake up on. Rainy days always make her feel gloomy. She doesn't know why. She drags herself out of bed, and starts her morning routine in the bathroom to start her day.
She went into the kitchen after leaving her room to prepare her breakfast. She cooked scrambled eggs this time. After cooking, she ate her egg sandwich with gusto.
Three hours later, she can be seen reading a book on the sofa in the living room.
Demetria joined her. "Dear, how are you feeling now?"
Clarice put the book down in her lap. "I feel fine. I'm better than yesterday," she replied, smiling.
"Good," Demetria was pleased with her student's good improvement. Clarice's transformation into a vampire went smoothly as planned. "How about your fangs not showing yet?" she inquired.
Clarice shakes her head. "Not yet."
"Alright, tonight you will need more power infusion, the highest kind," Demetria explained.
Clarice's brows drew together. "What do you mean?"
"Your current strength is the same as that of an ordinary vampire. You will need more power to stand out and become a true powerful guardian of this mountain," Demetria explained.
"Nice. Bring it on!" Clarice replied enthusiastically.
