34. Good News!
Alpha Callum pondered Clarice's question for a few seconds. "We will take him to the farm. I think Pops can heal him fast," he said confidently.
"Yeah, I think so," Clarice agreed.
"Let's go there now," Alpha Callum said.
"But the journey is quite long," she protested worriedly, deeply concerned about her son's weak condition. Caden's body was getting hotter in her arms.
Alpha Callum smiled. "You forgot that I can teleport you back to the farm house in just a few minutes," he reminded her.
"Ah, I almost forgot about it. What are we waiting for? Let's do it now!" she said urgently.
"Wait a minute, I will park the car on the side of the road before we teleport back to the farm house," he said, carefully maneuvering the car into the small clearing beside the road.
"Why didn't you teleport us to Lashpar Village? Why go through the hassle of a long journey?" she asked.
"Because my teleportation skill has limits, babe. I can't teleport to a place I have never been before, that's why," he said with a wink.
"Ah, okay. So what are we going to do now?" she asked after the car had already stopped moving. "We're going to leave the car here? What if somebody steals it while we are away?"
"No worries, I can bring the car with us as well," he said casually, as he had done it many times in the past.
"Really?" she asked in disbelief.
"Watch me," he said. "Just close your eyes, and we will be back at the farm before you know it," he added.
"OK, I'm closing my eyes now," she said, hearing Callum leaving the car.
"Good, keep your eyes closed," he instructed, and closed the door. "I'm teleporting us back to the farm now," he said. He initiated the teleportation process in his mind while firmly grabbing the car's bumper with both hands.
No car was passing on the dark highway at that moment. And when the vehicle disappeared from the lonely deserted road, nobody saw the spectacle.
A few minutes later, the couple's vehicle appeared outside the farmhouse. Teleportation was successful.
Alpha Callum opened the vehicle's door. "Babe, we're home and back on the farm," he announced.
"Thank you, Moon Goddess!" Clarice said in relief.
The door to the house swung open. Grandpa and Lorey stood in the doorway.
"Guys, we're back!" Alpha Callum announced cheerfully, taking Caden into Clarice's arms. "We brought our son back, but he has a high fever right now. Pops, you need to treat him ASAP!" he said urgently.
Grandpa Eliezer looked at the boy in Callum's arms and smiled, not worried at all. "Leave him to me. I treat all types of disease. Fever in children is easy to deal with. Bring him to my room," he ordered.
"Copy, Pops." Alpha Callum climbed the stairs in a big stride and reached the room in just a few seconds. He gently lowered his son onto the bed.
The women are trying to enter the room at once to extend their help to Grandpa.
"Girls, stay outside please, we are like packed sardines here. Only the doctor and the patient stay inside the room," he said, shooing them away. "Prepare the basin and the towel and wait outside for further instructions from me. I will start healing the boy now."
Alpha Callum ushered everyone out of the room, including himself. He looked at Clarice, "Let's wait here patiently. Our son is in good hands now."
"OK," Clarice said. She prefers to be inside the room to be with her son, but that's not possible right now. The only thing she can do is pray to the Moon Goddess for the speedy recovery of her son so they can finally be released from the stress associated with his illness.
Alpha Callum sighed heavily, looking at the closed door.
"This should be a happy reunion between us and our son, but we are given another problem to worry about. I hope our son's fever will finally wear off. If Grandpa can't cure Caden we need to take him to the hospital," she said apprehensively, looking at Callum with tears shimmering in her eyes.
Alpha Callum hugged Clarice, rubbing her back gently. "Everything will be alright, babe," he whispered soothingly in her ears.
"I hope so," she replied in tears.
Lorey returned, holding the basin filled with water.
A few minutes later, Grandpa Eliezer opened the door. "Guys, good news. I finished the thorough check-up, Caden's pulse was stable, his heart was beating normally. His condition is not serious. I had already given him my miraculous healing tablet. He will wake up anytime soon. I will inform you if he opens his eyes. For now, you can rest in your rooms and wait until I summon you. That's all for now," he said, dismissing the couple. He signals Lorey to enter the room and bring the basin filled with water.
"Thanks, Pops!" Alpha Callum said gratefully. Whew, what a relief!
"Thank you, Grandpa! This means so much to us," Clarice said. Tears of relief shone in her eyes.
The couple looked at each other meaningfully. Huge relief washed over them. The heavy weight was finally lifted from their shoulders, they could finally relax. They went downstairs and settled on the sofa.
"Oh, we haven't had dinner yet," Clarice blurted out after she noticed the clock on the wall. "It's already 8:00 in the evening. My tummy is grumbling. I'm hungry," she said, caressing her stomach.
Alpha Callum stood up. "Alright, let's go to the kitchen and find something to eat."
"OK." Clarice rose to her feet and followed him to the kitchen.
When Alpha Callum opened the pot there were no leftovers.
Clarice opened the cupboard and grabbed two cups of spicy beef noodles and sliced bread. "These will do," she said with a smile and proceeded to boil water.
Alpha Callum nodded. "Bring it on, I'm not choosy," he said, smiling, while opening the cup noodles.
Done boiling water, Clarice poured hot water into the cup noodles, then they waited for a few minutes before devouring the delicious spicy beef treat.
"These cup noodles taste delicious," Alpha Callum commented. "I don't normally consume these kinds of stuff, but they are handy when we are in a hurry and want something to eat that only takes a few minutes to prepare."
Clarice smiled and gave him a thumbs up. "You are right."
The couple finished their instant meal in just a few minutes and disposed of their trash properly in the trash bin. Nothing to do, they returned to the living room and settled on the sofa, discussing what they could do to help Marina and Carlos since they could no longer return to their old house near the river.
"What's your plan for them?" Clarice asked.
"We will provide them with construction materials so they can erect their house fast. We will pay for everything because we owe them a lot. Raising our son through the years is not easy, so they need to be rewarded with their hard work," Alpha Callum replied in a serious tone.
Clarice nodded her head. "I agree with your plan."
"If they no longer want to stay in Lashpar Village, they can stay here on the farm. This place is huge. I'm sure Grandpa won't mind having other people living with him," he said with a grin.
"Thank you, babe, for helping my cousin," she said, very much grateful for his thoughtfulness and generosity.
"Anything for you, my love." Alpha Callum planted a kiss on her forehead.
Lorey came downstairs and said, "Luna, Grandpa wants to change Caden's clothes because he is sweating."
"OK. I'll get some clothes from my room." Clarice stood up and went to her room with Lorey.
After giving Lorey the clothes, Clarice returned to the living room.
The couple was about to continue discussing Marina and Carlos's situation when Alpha Callum received a mind link from his beta. 'Wazz up?' he asked.
'Alpha, I just want to inform you that Luna Viviana was calling you on your phone, but you couldn't be reached. She told me she wanted to talk to you. She will call again in a minute,' Beta Amir said.
'Okay. Got it,' Alpha Callum replied and ended the mind link with his beta.
"Who is it?" Clarice asked.
"I had a mind link conversation with Beta Amir, informing me that my wife had been trying to call me, but my phone couldn't be reached. I have to go home to answer her call there. I'll be back after I finish talking to her," he said pensively. "I'm sorry about this," he said apologetically.
"No need to apologize, I understand completely," Clarice said calmly, but deep inside she was annoyed because Luna Viviana's call came at the wrong time. Sigh.
"Thank you, babe," Alpha Callum said and planted a kiss on her head. "I'll leave now." He quickly initiated teleportation in his mind.
A few minutes later, Alpha Callum disappeared from the living room.
Clarice sighed heavily, holding back tears from falling. It's time to celebrate because her family is now complete, but Luna Viviana destroys the mood.
She should smile and not let negativity get the better of her. She rose to her feet and headed to the second floor to get a glimpse of her son, even for a few seconds.
