131. The Struggle Within
While Beta Amir was checking all the messages on Viviana's phone, he came across a conversation between Viviana and Aurelia. In the conversation, Viviana lashed out at Aurelia, blaming Kaspar for wasting her $5 million pay for a botched job. Kaspar failed to kill Luna Clarice during her cruise ship vacation holiday with her husband.
Viviana wants her money back!
The back-and-forth bickering between the two women was clear as daylight, highlighting their joint cooperation in eliminating Luna Clarice from Alpha Callum's life.
Beta Amir shook his head in shock and disgust. In the past, he pitied Viviana, but he didn't approve of her hiring a person to kill her rival. Viviana could have moved on spectacularly with her life, but instead she hired someone to kill Luna Clarice. In the end, Viviana was killed by the same woman she wanted to eliminate.
It's called Karma!
He put Viviana's phone in the pocket of his jacket and left the room.
Outside the door, he informed Alpha Callum via a mind link about the things he discovered on Viviana's phone.
He walked into the hallway and went downstairs. Grandpa Eliezer was playing with Caden and his toys in the living room.
Grandpa Eliezer looked at him. "Did you find anything in her stuff?" he asked.
"Yes." Beta Amir nodded his head and silently motioned the old man to go with him into the corner so they could have a private conversation away from the boy.
"Alright, bring it on. I'm ready to hear anything," Grandpa Eliezer said, eager to know the truth behind Viviana's untimely death.
"While I was checking Viviana's phone, I found her conversation with Aurelia. Viviana mentioned that she wasted a huge amount of money by paying Kaspar $5 million to kill Luna Clarice during a cruise ship holiday. Not only that, Aurelia also paid Kaspar $5 million for the same job. Unfortunately, Kaspar failed to kill Luna Clarice. The women were angry because the woman they both hated was still alive," Beta Amir whispered in his ears.
"Whaaat? $10 million for Clarice's death? These women are pure evil!" Grandpa Eliezer reacted negatively, shaking his head in absolute shock and sadness. "Can I read their chat conversation?" he asked.
"Sure." Beta Amir removed Viviana's phone from the pocket of his jacket and showed the women's chat conversation to the old man.
Grandpa Eliezer began reading the chat silently. After reading, he said, "So, they had an emergency meeting that day at Kaspar's place and afterwards they went their separate ways. The killings ensued in different places. Clarice must have heard their conversation, and initiated her revenge, eliminating her enemies one by one."
Beta Amir nodded his head. "Yeah, that's what I'm also thinking in my head right now."
"Did you already inform my grandson about what you discovered on Viviana's phone?" Grandpa Eliezer asked.
"Yes, done already," Beta Amir replied.
A few minutes later, Alpha Callum arrived at the mansion and kissed his son's forehead.
The men then proceeded to the home office on the second floor.
"Show me Viviana's conversation with Aurelia on her phone." Alpha Callum ordered his assistant the moment they stepped into the room.
Beta Amir handed Viviana's phone to his boss.
Alpha Callum read the women's conversation in silence, his mouth twitching in disdain. "So my wife found out about their meeting, followed the women to Kaspar's house and from there she continued stalking the women and killing them in separate places," he murmured.
"Yeah, that's exactly how things unfolded," Beta Amir replied.
Alpha Callum met his grandfather's gaze. "Grandpa, I want to hear your opinion. Do you think Viviana's death was a harsh punishment for her sins? Or has Clarice gone too far this time?"
Grandpa Eliezer breathed deeply. "It's a case-to-case basis and depends on the person. Some people can easily forgive and forget. But others can't tolerate other people's mistakes and sins. Clarice is a different person now. The forgiving woman she used to be in the past is gone. What makes Clarice dangerous is she won't tolerate cruelty anymore. She delivers quick justice and revenge. No more second chances when it comes to the sinners who wronged her. That's just my observation based on her new persona," he replied.
Alpha Callum raises a brow and asks, "Is that a good or bad thing?"
Grandpa Eliezer sighed wryly. "Well, we are good people, so we have no reason to fear Clarice. But if someone is planning to harm her and her family, that person will die. Given how powerful she is now, she can do so many things we don't know about. The truth is, there is nothing to fear when it comes to Clarice. You know why? Because we are good and peace-loving people. We will never harm or betray her. So we are safe, right?"
Beta Amir smiled broadly. "Yeah. We are safe, of course!"
Alpha Callum fell silent while listening to his companion's opinion.
Grandpa Eliezer observed his grandson's face. "What's wrong, son? Do you still have doubts or worries about what happened? Do you still think your wife overreacted and delivered a cruel punishment to Viviana?"
Alpha Callum took a deep breath. "Yes. For me, it's better to send Viviana to the pack's prison to pay for her crime and serve her sentence there. Killing her is a big no-no for me!" he said furiously, condemning the way his wife delivered her revenge.
Grandpa Eliezer released a deep sigh. "I understand you, son. Of course, you have your own way, but your wife is different. She also has her own way of dealing with things. You two can't meet in the middle of settling your differences, so what's going to happen now? Would you rather have Aurelia, Kaspar and Viviana succeed in their evil plans and kill Clarice? Or would you prefer what happened today, where the evil people perished and the only person remaining standing was a good person who was forced to do terrible things because of revenge? Which is which?"
Thick silence hung heavy in the air.
"That's right!" Beta Amir chimed in to break the deafening silence. "The simple question is, who do we really want to win in the end? The bad guys or the good guys? We cannot undo what happened. We can't turn back time. Viviana is gone because Luna Clarice found out her dark secret. Her evil plans resulted in her death. If Viviana hadn't gotten involved with those despicable people, she would still be alive today. Honestly, I really can't blame Luna Clarice for killing her enemies. She has every right to seek revenge. I'm on her side."
Alpha Callum's face turned dark for a split second, but his face softened quickly, realizing that his assistant was just expressing his opinion based on the way he sees things through his eyes.
Grandpa Eliezer stood up, ready to leave the room. "Son, you need to think outside the box this time. I know your pride is hurting that you were not able to protect Viviana and you are guilty because you broke your promise to her father. It's okay, don't be too hard on yourself. It's not your fault. It's all Viviana's fault. Beta Amir is right. If only Viviana had moved on with her life, she would still be alive right now. She brought death to herself. Lastly, I just want to remind you this: don't let the past destroy your family's bright future. Let's all move on together. That's all I can say," he said calmly.
Alpha Callum remained silent, staring at the wall in deep thought. He had a hard time dealing with his tormented ego and conflicting emotions, creating havoc in his mind.
"I would rather be a good person who kills the bad people than be the good guy killed by the bad guys." Beta Amir delivered his powerful final remarks, hoping it would leave a lasting impression on his boss' troubled mind.
Grandpa Eliezer sighed heavily. He could feel the torment raging in his grandson's head right now. He motioned Beta Amir to leave the room with him to give his grandson time for himself so he could process his thoughts properly in a quiet environment.
The two men left the room.
Alpha Callum was left alone, still struggling to deal with his turbulent emotions. Dealing with Viviana's sudden death is difficult for him. If it was another woman, he wouldn't give a damn.
Now, every time he sees his wife's face, he will be reminded that she killed Viviana. And he is the reason why the two women ended up hating and killing each other.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, making him feel terrible inside.
