115. Are You Mad?
When Clarice landed back in the house on the sacred mountain, Demetria was waiting for her in the living room. She expected she would be scolded because it was the first time she had been out of the sacred house and visited her family without permission from her mentor.
"Where have you been, dear?" Demetria asked, observing her face closely.
She cleared her throat and explained, "Um, I tested my power and teleported to visit my family. Are you angry that I left without permission?" She asked apprehensively.
To his surprise, Demetria shrugged her shoulders, uncaring. No sign of anger on her face.
"Not at all, dear. Now that you are practicing your powers, I know you will be visiting your family soon. And that is exactly what happened. I can't stop you, so no big deal. You can do anything you want. Whatever it is, I will support you," Demetria replied calmly.
She smiled in relief. "Thank you for not being mad at me."
"So, how's everyone back home?" Demetria asked. "Did Viviana succeed in seducing your husband, and he finally gave in to her seduction? What did you discover when you arrived home?"
Clarice cleared her throat. "I saw them swimming in the pool together, the three of them, but I was grateful that my husband ignored Viviana and focused on my son. I felt relieved knowing that he didn't give in to his ex-wife's flirting. I saw it with my eyes. He is devoted to me," she proudly said.
"Nice to hear that, dear. Your husband is a good and loyal person. You are lucky to have met him. You are perfect for each other," Demetria muses.
She giggled and said, "He is my soulmate. We share a mate bond."
"How sweet." Demetria smiled. "So how is your son?"
"I'm happy because Caden is healthy and well," she replied joyously.
"Great. I'm glad all is well with your family." Demetria smiled pleasantly, pausing for a few seconds, then continuing asking, "How's your teleporting skill? You didn't encounter any problems?" she asked.
"My teleporting skills are awesome. I didn't have a problem with it. I visited my family in invisible mode. Nobody saw me there, but my husband told his assistant that he detected my presence in the house," she elaborated further.
Demetria raised a brow. "Why is that?"
"Because of the mate bond. It's a strong bond between me and my mate," she explained.
"Ah, I see," Demetria murmured.
Comfortable silence fills the living room.
Demetria broke the silence and said, "I'm thinking of bringing you to the hibernation chambers to meet the remaining five members of the forsaken vampires. Are you ready?"
"Yes!" she replied.
Demetria stood up. "OK, let's go."
The women left the living room and proceeded to the hibernation chamber.
They entered room number 5 and approached the glass coffin.
Clarice looked at the woman in her 50s. "What's her case?" she inquired.
"She had a wicked soul. She kidnapped 100 children, starved them and turned them into little vampire demons, capable of killing their entire family and the community they are part of. After releasing them back to their families, the first batch of 30 children murdered their entire family in one night. Prompting the elders to investigate, which led them to this woman as the mastermind," Demetria explained.
Clarice gasps in shock. "Damn, how evil. But she looks so kind. The outside appearance is indeed deceiving," she commented wryly. "Um, how about the rest of the children? They were saved?" she asked, feeling hopeful.
Demetria shakes her head. "No. Unfortunately, when they arrived at the warehouse, the children's brains had already been rewired and they were no longer the same. They became blood-thirsty monsters. If they are released back to their families, they will start their murder spree. So the elders killed all the children to end their torment and also to prevent future carnage from happening."
Clarice sighed. "Poor children," she said sorrowfully, deeply affected by their traumatic flight. The tragic death of innocent children made her heart bleed.
"Now let's proceed to Number 4." Demetria walked to the mist-looking door.
Clarice followed Demetria to the door and entered the next room. She looked at the good-looking guy in his late 20's sleeping peacefully inside his glass coffin. "What's his case?" she asked curiously.
Demetria cleared his throat. "He used his good looks to entice women to worship him as their God, promising them eternal life, free from death, old age and sickness. He convinced women to leave their husbands and families and live with him on an island far away from towns and cities. He created a harem of 500 gullible women and counting. When the news spread out that women were missing, the elders investigated the case and discovered his dark secret," she paused, catching her breath.
"He is indeed handsome," Clarice casually commented.
Demetria continued her narration, "Someone alerted this guy to his impending arrest. When the elders arrived at the island, all the five hundred women had already plunged into the cliff in mass suicide, refusing to be parted from their false God. His mind control over the women was both excellent and terrifying. It's horrific to see 500 dead bodies of women floating in the sea, reaching the shore, shocking the villagers. A mass grave was held, and Grandpa Mortaz arrested this guy, putting an end to the tragic Harem cult."
"So despicable!" Clarice gritted her teeth in anger. She stared at the guy with disdain blazing in her eyes. "I would love to kill him with my hands to give justice to the women who perished because of his manipulation," she declared vehemently.
Demetria shakes her head. "Don't do that, dear. Grandpa Mortaz already did a great job gathering these scumbags and imprisoning them in their hibernation chambers for a long time. They cannot hurt other people anymore."
Clarice nostrils were flaring.
"If you get carried by your emotions and remove them from their glass coffins, you won't like the aftermath of your actions. I suggest you stay calm and uncaring every time you check on these demons. Avoid staring at their faces for long so that you won't be tempted to do the unthinkable," she warned.
Clarice was startled. "Technically, they are still alive, right? Can they hear us?" she asked fearfully.
"Yup. They are alive but very weak. But once you let them out of their glass coffins, all hell will break loose. You shall remember that always," Demetria warned her.
Clarice took a deep breath. "OK. I will remember everything you told me. But what if one day during my visit I discover that one of them is missing or one of the bodies is rotting or decomposing? What should I do?"
Demetria fell silent for a moment. "Just let things be. Don't tamper with the glass coffin, never open it. It's likely that out of desperation, one of them managed to enhance their mental capacity and was able to cultivate illusion skills, making you see what is false. So leave the room immediately and return within a few days. If, during your visit, the rotting body looks intact, they have failed to deceive you."
"Ah, okay. Whatever I see in this room, I will just ignore it. They are probably messing up my mind," Clarice stated, taking a mental note of everything. "Has it happened before?" she asked.
Demetria shook her head. "Nope. It never happened to me or to all the guardians before me. I'm sure it will never happen during your guardianship. No need to worry," she said reassuringly.
"Nice, good to know that!" Clarice murmured in relief. "I have another question."
"What is it?"
"What if another villain appeared in current times? Will the elders or guardians emerge from their seclusion and arrest the evil vampires before they can do huge damage?" Clarice asked the most important question of all.
Demetria responded, "Maybe yes or maybe not. But since you are the Supreme Punisher and more powerful than all the vampires combined, it's up to you to punish those criminals. The vampire association will ask for your help if they encounter a powerful villain that they can't handle. The protocol is to execute anyone that has evil traits like the monsters in these hibernation chambers. Those wannabe villains are not allowed to flourish and prosper. Do you understand?"
"Copy. Loud and clear!" Clarice replied energetically.
Demetria said, "Anything else you want to ask?"
Clarice fell silent for a moment then said, "You know what? I just remember how far I came from being your captive to becoming your successor in the blink of an eye," she muses.
Demetria smiled. "The moment I saved you from drowning, I never thought that one day you would become my successor. Everything falls into place. Life is indeed full of surprises."
Clarice grinned. In the past, she dreamed of having supernatural powers to protect herself from bad people. Now that her wish has been granted, and she's currently living out her dream, she still feels overwhelmed by everything. "My transformation is mind-blowing," she enthused.
"You will get used to it one day," Demetria said casually. She walked towards the mist door. "Alright, let's go to the next room."
Clarice followed Demetria and entered the next room. They walked to the glass coffin in the center of the room.
Clarice looked at the woman inside the glass coffin, and she was completely surprised by what she saw. For a moment she was speechless, stunned beyond words. "Hell no! This is not possible!" she blurted in shock and disbelief.
