42. A New Identity
A few days later, Clarice and Caden were playing outside the house when Alpha Callum's car arrived.
"Daddy!" Caden waved his hand happily, excited about seeing his father again.
Alpha Callum exited the car, planted a kiss on Clarice's head and approached his son. "I have a surprise for you, son."
"What is it, Dad? Another toy?" he asked excitedly.
Smiling, Alpha Callum shook his head. "Nope. It's something different." He signaled his hand towards the car.
Marina and Carlos exited the car.
"Hooray! It's Aunty and Uncle!" Caden screamed in delight as he ran towards the newcomers.
Carlos lifted Caden in his arms lovingly. "How are you, baby boy?"
"I'm doing great, Uncle. Mommy and Daddy bought me a lot of toys!" Caden gushes happily.
Marina smiled. "How about a kiss, baby boy?"
Caden eagerly gave his aunt a peck on the cheek.
Marina and Clarice sat on the wooden bench and chatted merrily with each other, while the men discussed things about the farm after Grandpa Eliezer joined them.
"I have something to tell you, cousin," Marina said, putting her hand on her belly.
"What is it?" Clarice asked. "Are you having some kind of problem?"
Marina shook her head. "I'm two months pregnant. Finally!" she blurted the news, smiling radiantly.
"Wow! That's amazing! Congratulations!" Clarice smiled brightly.
The men glanced at them, wondering what the women were talking about.
"Guys, Marina is two months pregnant!" Clarice announced the good news.
"Fantastic news!"
"Congratulation!"
"A blessing from the Moon Goddess!"
The couple received congratulatory words from everyone.
To celebrate the happy occasion, Alpha Callum went back to the city and bought delicious dishes from his favorite catering restaurant.
They had a dinner party that night at the farm house.
With open arms, Grandpa Eliezer officially welcomed the couple to the farm. "Guys, welcome to our home! We are family here."
"Thank you so much, Grandpa! Thanks to everyone for the help," Carlos said gratefully.
Tears of happiness and gratitude shone in Marina's eyes. "Thank you for the warm welcome, Grandpa. Thank you, guys, for your love and acceptance. We appreciate your kindness."
Clarice hugged her cousin, feeling emotional. Their eyes glistened with tears.
That night, Marina and Carlos settled in their room upstairs and rested early.
Meanwhile, in Clarice's room, after tucking Caden into bed, the couple were discussing their plans for their future.
"It's much easier to divorce my wife if there is no third party involved. She shouldn't know about you and Caden," Alpha Callum said somberly.
Clarice winced inwardly. Of course, she is the third party to the couple's marriage. She is a marriage destroyer just like Aurelia. It's an ugly label that she is not proud to be associated with. But since she was already proclaimed dead by her ex-husband, she could only depend on Callum's love and protection.
"I'm sorry about this, babe," Alpha Callum apologized in a heartfelt tone, planting a tender kiss on her head.
"I'm fine with everything. Don't worry about me." Clarice smiled reassuringly, trying to hide the pain inside. The only time she can be fully happy is when Callum and his wife are officially divorced.
The only thing she can do now is go with the flow and support Callum's plan from A to Z, especially now that she has finally reunited with her beloved son.
She needed Callum's love and protection more than ever, for Caden's and Lorey's sake as well.
"Do you think your wife will give up your marriage easily?" she asked.
Alpha Callum shook his head. "Honestly, the answer is no."
"I guess our road to happiness is going to be a bumpy ride. Am I right?" she asked, despite already knowing the answer to her question.
"Yeah, I think so," he admitted dejectedly. "But don't worry, in the end we will finally have our own happy ending," he assured her.
"I believe in you, babe. In the end, our love will prevail," she said wistfully, looking at him with love shining in her eyes.
"In the meantime... You, Lorey and Caden will have to relocate to the previous house I rented for you, the one with the swimming pool in the backyard. I'm sure Caden would love that place," he said confidently. "It's just a temporary place. I will find a better place soon."
"No need to find another property because I like that place. I feel at home there. Our son will surely love the house once he sees the swimming pool there," Clarice said confidently.
"Alright, I'm glad you like the place. It's near school. I instructed my assistant to ask the owner if he wanted to sell the property, so I could buy it and put it in your name. Then I'm also planning to buy a brand new car so you can learn to drive. I will teach you how to drive so you can drive Caden to school," he added.
"Awesome. But no need to teach me how to drive. I know how to drive," she said with a smile.
"Great! I will let you choose your own car," he said.
Clarice smiled, grateful for his generosity. "So when are we going to relocate to the house?" she asked.
"Next week, Sunday afternoon," he replied.
"OK. Noted," she said, yawning, covering her mouth.
"Are you sleepy now?" he asked.
"Yup, I'm sleepy," she replied.
"Alright, let's go to sleep," he said.
"Wait," she suddenly remembered one important thing. "There is something very important that I wanted to tell you..."
"Go on, tell me, I'm listening," he urged her.
"Since I'm already dead in everyone's minds, maybe it's about time to create a new name for myself. I want to create a new identity, so I can finally leave my turbulent past behind. I want to live a new life with you and our son in my new identity," she said sadly. There is still a big part of her refusing to give up her old identity, but in order to live a happy and peaceful life with Callum and her son, she must forge a new identity, free from the shadows of her past.
"Are you sure about this?" he asked, studying her face closely, seeing conflicting emotions flashing in her eyes.
"Yup. I have already made up my mind. I want to have a new identity," she said with finality in her voice.
"Alright, make a detailed list of what kind of identity you want to create for yourself. I will ask my assistant to find out the mechanics of how to establish your new identity legally," he said calmly.
"OK, I will make a list," she said and started yawning again.
"Babe, you are very sleepy. Let's go to sleep now," he said and planted a kiss on her head.
"OK." Clarice walked to the closet, grabbed her pajama, then entered the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and did some quick washing. She emerged from the bathroom door a few moments later, already wearing her pajamas.
Alpha Callum was already lying on the bed.
She turned off the light and lay down on her side of the bed. "Good night, babe. I love you."
"I love you more, babe," he responded in a sleepy tone.
Clarice kissed Caden's forehead and closed her eyes to sleep.
The couple drifted into a deep slumber a few minutes later.
