114. Spying
Clarice teleported to Grandpa Eliezer's farm at the last minute. She landed in the river. Thankfully, no one was there when she landed behind the towering bushes.
She must make herself invisible first before proceeding home. What she wants to avoid is landing in the living room of her husband's mansion and everyone will have a heart attack after seeing her alive.
She must not rush things and take everything slowly. She will be going home anyway. She has to do things right. What she needs is a private moment with her husband so she can explain everything to him.
Time to leave!
She closed her eyes, made herself invisible, then teleported home.
A few minutes later she landed inside the mansion, particularly in the master bedroom she shared with her husband.
Thankfully, no one was inside the room when she landed. She quickly locked the door from the inside and looked at herself in the mirror.
Fantastic, she can't see herself in the mirror.
Perfect!
Now she's confident to leave the bedroom and find her loved ones outside.
She left the bedroom and went to her son's room. He's not there. Where is he?
She walked through the hallways searching for him. She couldn't find him upstairs so she went downstairs and checked the living room. He's not there either. She was careful not to collide with the maids. They were busy cleaning the sofa and furniture.
Her heart beats faster in her rib cage because she can't find her son. She is getting worried. Did something bad happen to him? Where is he?
It would be much easier to just ask the maid where her son is, but if she does that, the maids will have a heart attack if she suddenly appears in front of them.
She went outside and walked down the path leading to the backyard where the garden was. Finally, she heard her son's voice. Her heart leaped with joy. She rushed into the garden and saw her son swimming in the pool together with Viviana. She expected to see her husband, but he was not with them.
She smiled in relief.
By the way, where is he?
It's actually a good thing that they are not together, because if she sees him in the pool with Viviana, and they are touchy-feely with each other, she might explode in rage and kill Viviana out of jealousy.
She sat on the sun lounger and watched her son having a water gun battle with his nanny. His joyous laughter echoed in the air, filling her heart with happiness. She's dying to hug him soon! She's excited thinking about it.
She scanned the garden and saw the maid inside the gazebo taking care of Viviana's baby daughter.
She fixed her gaze on Viviana for a few minutes, trying to analyze how long this woman would stay at her husband's house. Viviana has ulterior motives for sure!
Although she can't enter Viviana's mind, she knows she will try to seduce her husband to reconcile with him. After all, they had a daughter together.
She released a deep sigh.
She stood up and walked to the gazebo. She didn't enter the structure but stood at the entrance, looking at the chubby baby girl in the crib. The baby looks so cute. In fairness, she liked Viviana's adorable daughter. She wouldn't mind becoming her stepmother one day.
She was enamored with the baby's cuteness when she suddenly sensed a commanding presence a few meters away. When she turned around, she saw her husband approaching the garden.
Oh, no.
Her heart beat faster in her rib cage, thrilled by his presence. She liked to throw herself into his arms and kiss him senseless because she missed him so much. But she can't do that yet, so frustrating!
Her training is not perfect yet. It's one thing that holds her back.
She stepped back when she realized that her husband was approaching the gazebo. She quickly darted behind the ornamental plants away from the entrance, watching him enter the gazebo. Alpha Callum picks up his baby daughter from the crib, cradling her gently in his arms, kissing her chubby cheeks.
Holding her breath, she continued watching him, careful not to make any sounds or movements.
Suddenly, she was startled when he looked straight in her direction. They had eye-to-eye contact. She didn't know if it was awareness she saw in his eyes, but he must have detected her presence in the area. Their mate bond was so strong that his instinct must have informed him that she was in the vicinity of the garden.
Alpha Callum was shaking his head, thinking he was crazy for imagining his wife's presence in the garden. If yes, it must be her soul wandering around.
He planted a kiss on her daughter's forehead and gently put her back in the crib, then left the gazebo, heading to the pool.
"Dad, join us!" Caden shouted excitedly.
"Not today, son, maybe tomorrow. Daddy is busy right now," Alpha Callum replied.
Viviana looked at her ex-husband with intense adoration shimmering in her eyes. "Join us for just a few hours," she said, trying to convince him in her sultry voice.
Clarice saw the look that Viviana was giving to her ex-husband and her suspicions were right. Viviana had plans for her husband. Jealousy rose in her heart. But she quickly took a deep breath, taking control of her emotions, calming her mind and heart.
She comes here to see her family and spy on Viviana. No reason to destroy her plan.
So far, her husband has not reciprocated Viviana's attention yet.
No need to feel angry. She must be clear-headed and not let jealousy and rage affect her decision-making. One false move might kill Viviana on the spot. Not a good homecoming.
She would stay calm and continue observing if her husband would give in to Viviana's flirtation.
She wants to know how much her husband loves her.
"Come on, Dad! Get into the pool," Caden shouted, shooting his father with the water gun, wetting his shorts and pants.
Alpha Callum groaned in dismay. Now he is wet. Instead of getting angry, he grinned and jumped into the pool, finally giving in to his son's persuasion.
Viviana smiled from ear to ear. She edged closer to her ex-husband, but he shot her a warning glare, preventing her from closing in.
Viviana's smile faded, annoyed. She swam away and started sulking in the corner of the pool while the father and son laughed, having fun shooting water guns at each other. The pool was filled with contagious laughter.
Clarice sees everything and is very pleased with her husband's behavior. The way her husband glares at his ex-wife means one thing: they are not lovers yet. It made her happy. She was proud of how strong he was when facing such temptations in his mansion every waking hour.
Her heart was overflowing with happiness. It made her want to show herself in front of them at that very moment to give Viviana a shocker, but she was quick to stop herself. It is not yet the perfect time for her great reveal.
She could continue doing this for several days and months, spying on her husband, wondering what would happen if Viviana continued flirting and seducing her husband every single day?
What is going to happen?
Will her husband give in to his ex-wife's seduction in the long run?
That remains to be seen.
The maids arrived at the pool area and served them some refreshments. They left the pool and ate their delicious snack. Afterward, they resumed frolicking in the water.
Alpha Callum only stayed in the pool for one hour and thirty minutes and finally left the garden, heading back to the mansion to resume his Alpha duties.
Clarice followed her husband to the house, until he reached the bedroom and went inside. She stood in the hallway, trying not to get so close to him that he might detect her presence again. She waited to see what her husband would do next.
He left the bedroom, wearing black pants, a white t-shirt and a black leather jacket. He met his assistant, Beta Amir, in the hallway.
"The car is ready. Shall we go now, Alpha?" Beta Amir inquired.
"Okay. I'll just have a cup of hot coffee in the living room before we leave," Alpha Callum replied.
Clarice followed them in silence.
Suddenly, Alpha Callum halted in his tracks, turned around and stared at the empty space in front of him.
Clarice froze.
Beta Amir's brows drew together. "What is it, Alpha? Did you forget something?"
"Haven't you noticed something yet? I could feel my wife's presence around us, in the garden, in the pool and right now she's with us," Alpha Callum declared, his tone serious.
Beta Amir's brows drew together in astonishment. "I think you are just imagining things, Alpha. You missed your wife so much, that is why you felt she was here with us right now," he commented casually, not believing the Alpha's claim.
Alpha Callum continued staring at the spot where Clarice stood frozen in time, not daring to make a sound or movement.
Thick silence filled the hallway.
"Alpha, your wife is not here. Shall we go now?" Beta Amir broke the silence.
Alpha Callum shook his head several times, trying to clear his head. "OK," he finally replied.
The men proceeded downstairs to the living room.
Clarice released the long breath she had been holding for a while. She no longer followed the men.
Enough spying for today. Time to leave!
She leaves her husband's mansion and teleports back to the sacred mountain.
