129. Extremely Satisfying
Kaspar was having breakfast one hour before he opened his fortune-telling store. His store assistant was on a five-day vacation leave in his hometown to attend his sister's wedding. He will be back tomorrow morning.
He received a call, and the call came from Alpha Bruce informing him of the bad news.
"My wife, Luna Aurelia, is already dead. I just want you to know that because you are her closest friend," Alpha Bruce said.
"Whaaaat? What happened? How did she die?" Kaspar asked, his hands trembling while holding up the phone.
"She went to our vacation house outside the city. The caretaker told me that after she had served dinner to my wife, she went to her room to sleep early because she had a headache. My wife was left in the infinity pool, swimming alone there. The following day, when she woke up and went to the pool to clean the area, she saw my wife's lifeless body floating in the water. My wife drowned accidentally. No foul play based on the investigation conducted by the police authorities," Alpha Bruce explained sadly.
"My condolences, Alpha. I'm deeply saddened and devastated after hearing the news of my friend's sudden passing. Where is her body right now? I want to attend her wake," Kaspar said, teary-eyed.
"In my home. You can come anytime," Alpha Bruce replied.
"Okay, I'll be there this evening," Kaspar said despondently.
"Alright, I'll see you tonight," Alpha Bruce said.
"Thanks for informing me." Kaspar was devastated by the news.
The men's phone conversation ended a few minutes later.
Kaspar put down his phone on the table and no longer wanted to continue eating his meal because he had already lost his appetite. He had just talked to Aurelia yesterday and told her to flee before Clarice caught up with her. But now she is already dead. How can someone like Aurelia who knows how to swim drown in a 5-foot-deep pool?
Unless someone drowned her, killing her intentionally. But if she was murdered, who is the murderer?
Who could it be?
Could it be Clarice?
But there was no evidence that it was Clarice. Maybe it was just coincidence?
Suddenly, he felt a chill run down his spine.
He sent a message to Viviana to share the bad news with her. Unfortunately, Viviana's phone kept ringing but no one was responding to his call.
He stood up and gathered the dirty dishes and washed them in the sink. Afterward, he went to his room and began pacing back and forth on the floor. He has no plans to open his store today because he has just lost a dear friend. He can't concentrate on his job.
Suddenly, his phone rang. He received a text message coming from Viviana's number. The message says, 'If you are Viviana's friend, I just want to inform you that she can no longer reply to calls and messages on her phone because she died yesterday. The cause of her sudden death was drowning in the sea. You can visit her wake at the Savage Howl Pack funeral home today. She will be buried in the pack's cemetery tomorrow afternoon.'
Shocked, Kaspar almost dropped his phone onto the floor. Aurelia and Viviana died one after another. Two deaths in just a span of 24 hours?
It's no longer a coincidence!
There is someone behind their deaths and that someone could be Clarice or her husband, Alpha Calllum.
Is he afraid now of his own safety? Yes, definitely!
Should he leave his house and go to a place where Clarice couldn't find him? But where is that place?
He finds his current situation difficult and confusing. He's not expecting any of this to happen.
Will he be next to die?
Should he escape or face Clarice? But if Clarice was the murderer of the two women, how did she do it? How come nobody saw her doing it? She made the killing appear like it was an ordinary accident.
Aurelia and Viviana's death was so sudden it deeply alarmed him.
The way they died was all related to water.
How about him? Will he also be killed by water?
He just can't wait for his death. He must visit Aurelia's funeral today so he can say his last goodbye to her and decide what he will do next.
He went to the bathroom to take a shower.
He was soaping his body when suddenly the faucet in the bathtub started pouring water, filling the tub to the brim. When Kaspar attempted to turn off the faucet it wouldn't close, looking like it was broken. He needs to call a plumber to fix it after he finishes bathing. He quickly rinses his hair and body with water and finishes his bath, putting on his pants and T-shirt.
He left the bathroom and was about to pick up his phone and call the plumber when he sensed something. He could feel someone's presence in the room, but couldn't find its location.
"Who are you? Reveal yourself now!" Kaspar ordered. He began chanting a dark spell. The moment the entity reveals itself, he will capture it with his black mesh.
Clarice suddenly appeared near the door. Immediately, a black mesh fell on her, capturing her on the spot, and imprisoning her.
"Finally catch you!" Kaspar grinned. "Now I will kill you for good!" he said, walking towards the captured Clarice, ready to kill him.
"Kaspar, I'm here!" Clarice said, taunting him.
"I'm also here! Capture me!"
"Me too, hurry up!" Clarice's minions giggled in amusement.
To Kaspar's surprise, more than a dozen Clarice's look-alikes appeared all over the room like mushrooms.
Kaspar was getting confused. What's going on? Is she this powerful now? Where did she get her powers?
"Are you surprised how I managed to multiply myself in this room? It's one of my powers, dear Kaspar!" Clarice laughed, amused.
Kaspar realized that what happened to Clarice during her disappearance made her what she is now.
Suddenly, all Clarice looked alike produced flames in their hands and surrounded Kaspar, trapping him in the middle.
"Clarice, did you kill Aurelia and Viviana?" Kaspar asked.
"Yes. I killed them both. Now it's time for you to follow them to hell. I will kill you today. Now choose, you will die on fire or you can die peacefully in the bathtub with your body intact. Choose your death wisely, Kaspar," Clarice said.
Kaspar chanted another spell and a dark poisonous smoke appeared from the ceiling and quickly enveloped the whole room.
Clarice and her minions disappeared from the room.
Kaspar laughed victoriously. "I'm still more powerful than you are, Clarice. Show me yourself. Don't hide among your minions so I can kill you this time. Now show yourself! Don't be a coward!" he shouted smugly.
Clarice's amused laughter vibrated around the room. "You are funny, Kaspar! You have no idea how powerful I am. I'm just playing silly games with you. Since you are so evil, I will not waste my time on you. I will burn you to ashes now so you can follow your partners in crime on their trip to hell," she said, her voice hard and cold.
Before Kaspar could say anything, he noticed his clothes were already burning, devoured by the flames. "Shiit!" he yelled in panic, bolting to the bathroom and jumping into the bathtub to smother the fire. Unfortunately, he sank deeper into the tub and no matter how hard he tried to get out, he could no longer get out because he was already frozen.
What the hell is going on? Why can't he move his body?
Damn, Clarice had frozen him!
Water entered his mouth, nose and ears. He could no longer breathe. He was drowning!
Due to panic, he forgot to chant a spell to save himself. His brain doesn't function anymore.
It was too late! He was dying.
Darkness enveloped his consciousness and death claimed him.
Clarice stood beside the bathtub, watching Kaspar die in front of her. Her eyes shimmered with satisfaction.
Great! She has finally killed them all.
She finally brought justice to herself and punished her tormentors with the kind of death they deserved.
She closed her eyes and savored the sweet victory. It felt good to be able to get back to the people who wronged her. She has no regrets. Killing them one by one is satisfying and extremely rewarding.
She won't hesitate to do it again in the future! All bad people must die!
She finally turned off the water, went to the sofa and lingered at Kaspar's place for another hour, making sure he was already dead and had no chance of surviving his drowning. If he faked his death, she would kill him again without hesitation.
Clarice fell into deep thoughts, thinking about what to do next.
She had no plans to talk to her husband yet. She was still upset that he had already condemned her before giving her a chance to prove anything. His cold acceptance deeply hurt her.
It's better to head back to the sacred house for now.
She teleported back to the sacred mountain. When she arrived there, Demetria was relaxing on the sofa.
"You're back, dear! How's your family? Did it go well?" Demetria asked curiously.
Clarice shakes her head. "No. I'm upset. My husband judged me unfairly before I could prove anything," she responded gloomily.
"Oh, sorry to hear that, dear. Don't worry, he will come around. Give him enough time to adjust," Demetria said sympathetically.
"I hope so," Clarice said in distress.
"So, what else did you do outside?" Demetria asked.
"I killed Aurelia, Kaspar and Viviana. They're already dead," Clarice said with a smile, proud of her accomplishment.
"Oh, really? You finally did it? I'm shocked!" Demetria said in astonishment. "How does it feel after getting your revenge?" she asked.
"Amazing! I love it!" Clarice replied cheerily.
"No regrets or feelings of guilt after you killed them?" Demetria asked.
Clarice smiled. "Nothing at all!"
"I'm happy for you, dear," Demetria gave her a thumbs up. "By the way, I'm going out for some spying. See you tomorrow," she said.
"OK. Take care!" Clarice responded, walking towards her room to take a long rest.
