133. Sincere Intention
Clarice left the cemetery and teleported home. She entered the mansion through the main door. She wants to normalize her presence in the house and wants the maid to know that she is back for good.
"Luna, your husband is not in the house yet. They went to the cemetery to attend Viviana's burial," the maid informed her.
Clarice smiled. "It's fine. I just want to see my son. Where is he?" she asked.
"Upstairs in his room," the maid answered.
"OK. I'll go and see him." Clarice walked towards the stairs.
"I'll prepare some refreshments, Luna," the maid said cheerily.
"Yes, please. Lemonade juice and some cookies will do," Clarice responded with a smile.
"OK. I'll take them upstairs later after I'm done with the preparation," the maid replied, heading to the kitchen.
Clarice climbed the stairs and went to her son's room, excited to see him.
She entered her son's room and smiled brightly. "Hello, my son. Mommy is back!"
"Mommyyyy! You're back!" Caden shouted in glee, happy to see his mother again. He flew into her arms, beaming happily.
Clarice hugged her son tightly, showering kisses on his face. "I miss you so much, son," she said. Tears of happiness shimmered in her eyes.
"I miss you too, Mommy. When are you going to stay here in our house every day? Why do you always leave? Why can't you stay here with me and Daddy?" Caden asked, confused.
Clarice sighed. She can't tell her son that she and his father are not okay yet. They still have to fix their problems before things can return to normal. She doesn't want to drag her son into the mess, so she will try her best to appear happy in front of him. "Son, please listen to me. Mommy still has some things to do outside the house. After my job is done, I will stay by your side and never leave again. So stay good always and obey your Daddy, okay?" she said teary-eyed, kissing his chubby cheeks.
"Yes, Mommy," Caden replied, handing his toy truck to his mother. "Let's play!" he said, grinning happily.
"Okay. I'll play with you for two hours only. After that, Mommy would go to work." Clarice had no intention of staying in the house until evening.
"Will you stay for dinner, Mommy?" Caden begged with puppy dog's eyes. "Please?"
Clarice sighed, nodding her head. "Alright, because I love you so much, I will stay for dinner."
Caden jumped up and down in absolute delight, happy with his mother's reply. "Hooray! Mommy is staying home tonight!"
They resumed playing with toys scattered on the floor.
The room was filled with their merry laughter.
Alpha Callum and his companions had just arrived home.
The maid stood near the door. "Alpha, Luna Clarice is back in the house," she informed him.
The men looked at each other.
"Where is she?" Alpha Callum asked, his eyes unreadable.
"In your son's room, bonding with him," the maid replied.
"OK." Alpha Callum nodded his head.
The men settled on the sofa in the living room.
"Son, why don't you join your family and bond with them?" Grandpa Eliezer suggested.
"Yes, bond with them, Alpha. Give yourself some family time," Beta Amir chimed in.
Alpha Callum stared at the flower vase on the center table for a few seconds, then slowly shook his head. "Nah, not this time. Let them bond together. I have so many things to do in my office," he said, standing up.
Grandpa Eliezer and Beta Amir looked at each other hopelessly. They felt sad that the couple was still not ready to set aside their pride and egos.
Alpha Callum addressed his assistant. "Come with me to my office. We have things to do," he ordered.
"Copy, Alpha." Beta Amir stood up and looked at Grandpa Eliezer before heading to the staircase.
Grandpa Eliezer was deeply worried about the couple's worsening situation. Is there anything he can do to fix the couple's growing feud?
No. There is nothing he can do. The married couple should fix their problems ASAP! But when?
Their coldness towards each other will be felt by everyone in the house, and it's not going to be a pleasant experience for everyone.
The maid, holding a tray filled with refreshments, climbed the stairs, heading to Caden's room.
Grandpa Eliezer decided to join the mother and son for a chit-chat.
He arrived in the room and announced his presence. "Can I join you guys?" He asked for permission.
Clarice smiled. "Sure, Pops."
After eating their tasty refreshments, Grandpa Eliezer spoke to Clarice. "I don't want to disturb your bonding time with your son, dear. I just wanted to ask you some questions. I hope it's okay with you."
Clarice nodded her head. "Bring it on, Pops."
"You are the one who finished her?" he inquired. "You know who I'm talking about?"
"You mean, V?" Clarice stated. She couldn't bring up Viviana's name in front of her son.
Grandpa Eliezer nodded his head. "Yeah."
"Yes. I did it," she replied without remorse.
"Alright, it's over now. I won't condemn you for doing it. Now my next question is, when are you going to stay here for good to be with your family? It's about time you returned here. This is your place. You belong here," he said.
Clarice sighed. "I know, Pops. Give me some time. I have some things to settle on the other side. But rest assured I'm working on it. Give me a few days and I will try my best to restore everything back to normal the way things used to be before my disappearance."
"That's good to know, dear." Grandpa Eliezer was pleased with the sincerity he saw in her eyes. "Do you still love your husband?" he asked.
Tears filled Clarice's eyes instantly. "I must admit I feel upset that my husband and I can't settle our differences yet. But starting today, I will work hard to make things right for my family again. It won't be easy. It might take a long time, but I won't give up on my family. I love my son and I love my husband. Nothing has changed when it comes to my feelings for my husband."
Grandpa Eliezer smiled. "Glad to know that, dear. If there is anything you need, don't hesitate to ask for my help. I'm willing to help you fix things between you and your husband."
"Thanks a lot for your help and support, Pops. I appreciate it very much," she replied gratefully.
"I hope your other responsibilities won't hold you back from reuniting with your family," he said, fishing for information.
"I have other responsibilities on the other side, but they won't take much of my time. All I need is proper balancing of my time. I will make sure my family doesn't suffer because of my other sidelines. I will come here every day to slowly insert myself into my family," Clarice assured him.
"I'm glad to hear that, dear," he said in elation. "So, what will your mentor think? Won't she be angry? Does she agree that you will return to your family?" he asked.
"Yes. She has no problem with that. She will retire next month, and I'll be free to do anything with my time. Things will get easier and better from now on," Clarice said optimistically.
"Ah, that's great. I was worried that your mentor would be controlling your actions like a master puppeteer," he said.
Clarice shook her head. "No, it doesn't work like that. My mentor is very understanding."
"I see. I'm glad you have found a mentor who is understanding and who believes in your capabilities," he said cheerfully.
Clarice grinned. "Our path was meant to cross, and I'm glad things turned out better than I expected."
"Glad to hear that, dear. I can finally have peace of mind knowing everything will turn out fine in the end," Grandpa Eliezer said, standing up. "I'll take my leave so you can continue bonding with your son."
"Pops, please tell my husband I'll be staying for dinner tonight," she said.
"Sure, I will tell him. He will be glad for sure." Grandpa Eliezer smiled, leaving the room in high spirits. All his worries slowly disappeared.
Clarice continued playing with her son. A knot was formed in her belly, feeling anxious about what her husband would think about her staying for dinner tonight.
Meanwhile...
Grandpa Eliezer proceeded to the office. "Son, I have good news for you!" he said enthusiastically the moment he stepped into the room.
Alpha Callum raises his head. "What good news, Pops?"
"I just came out of your son's room. I had a brief conversation with your wife, and she wanted me to tell you that she would be staying for dinner tonight. Amazing, isn't it?" Grandpa Eliezer grinned happily.
Alpha Callum was silent for a moment. He didn't know how to react to the unexpected news.
"And not only that, she told me she would come here every day to be with you and Caden. And the best part, she told me she still loved you, son. I hope you can give her a chance," Grandpa Eliezer pleaded.
Alpha Callum's eyes flickered with emotion.
"That's all. I'm going downstairs to inform the cook to prepare delicious dishes for tonight's dinner. Let's celebrate!" Grandpa Eliezer said joyously, moving towards the door.
"I'll come with you, Grandpa. I need to drink water because I can't contain my excitement." Beta Amir rushed to the door and exited.
Alpha Callum was left alone in the room, staring at the wall, stunned that his hard-headed wife would be staying for dinner tonight.
Unbelievable!
