37. Give Me A Break!
The couple wanted to bring Caden to the lake for a family picnic, eager to give him the taste of family bonding that he had never experienced before in his life.
Grandpa Eliezer shook his head. "No, not yet. Let's wait until tomorrow and if his fever no longer returns today, then we can finally declare that he is fully healed. For now, just play with your son inside the safety of our house."
"Noted, Doc!" Alpha Callum grinned and gave him a thumb up.
"Thank you for healing our son, Grandpa. You're the best doctor ever!" Clarice smiled gratefully.
Grandpa Eliezer chuckled. "Don't mention it, guys. I'm glad to be of help to my loved ones. I'm a healer and that's what I do."
The couple went back to the room upstairs and bonded happily with their son, talking and playing with him, enjoying each other's company.
Clarice's heart was overflowing with gladness as she watched the father and son bond together, playing with toys on the wooden floor. After experiencing extreme torment at the hands of the evil shaman and her despicable former best-friend Aurelia, the Moon Goddess finally gifted her true happiness as she was now reunited with her beloved family.
She hoped they would always be happy. Their days would be filled with laughter, wishing this moment would last forever despite knowing that Callum was a married guy, and she was just borrowing him from his wife.
Once Luna Viviana returns from her vacation abroad, there will be changes for sure, and she doesn't know how to explain to her son that his father was married to another woman. She sighed inwardly. Damn, she shouldn't be thinking about Callum's wife right now. She should just enjoy this wonderful moment with her family.
She pushed the thoughts of Luna Viviana away from her mind to concentrate on the happiness she was given right now. She will worry about the problem later when it's already staring at her face. For now, they are free to do anything they want.
Alpha Callum gave her a questioning glance, wondering why she suddenly turned silent and detached for a moment.
She gave him a bright smile and rejoined them in their games, playing with toys.
Once again, the room was filled with Caden's squealing and the couple's merry laughter.
Hours went by.
At noon, the happy family ate lunch at the dining table with Grandpa and Lorey.
After lunch, Grandpa Eliezer finally allowed the couple to take their son outside the house as they settled comfortably on the wooden chair built around the trunk of the tree. They were enjoying the gentle breeze of the wind, caressing their skin as they continued admiring the refreshing lush greenery surrounding them as far as the eyes could see.
"Son, do you want to see the lake? We can have a picnic there and go swimming and catch some fish to cook for dinner," Alpha Callum suggested, gazing at his son's face affectionately.
Caden's chubby face lit up. "Wow, let's go swimming in the lake and catch some fish. Let's go there now, Dad!" he said excitedly.
Alpha Callum smiled. "Let's do it tomorrow, son? Grandpa said you couldn't go far yet. Let's explore the farm after you are fully healed. If your fever doesn't return today, then we will go to the lake tomorrow and have a family picnic there. For now, let's just play here outside the house. Do you understand, son?"
Caden nodded his head. "Okay, Daddy," he replied obediently. "Let's just play with my toys," he suggested.
"Later, son. Let's enjoy the fresh air first, then play with your toys later," Alpha Callum said gently, ruffling his son's brown curls.
Clarice and Alpha Callum looked at each other, mutually happy that their family was now complete, and it was the best feeling ever for both of them. Their hearts were overflowing with happiness.
Alpha Callum tickled his son's side and Caden began shrieking, laughing hard. The front lawn was filled with boisterous laughter. Tears of happiness filled Clarice's eyes, trying to engrave these memorable memories in her mind.
Time went by.
When Caden started yawning, Clarice knew it was already time for him to take his afternoon nap. A few moments later, Caden fell asleep in his father's arms.
"Aw, the little guy has already fallen asleep," Alpha Callum said in amusement.
"Let's take him to the room so he can sleep properly," Clarice said.
"OK." Alpha Callum rose to his feet and carried his son in his arms back to the house.
The couple entered the house and climbed the stairs to Clarice's room.
When they reached the room, Alpha Callum lowered his son's sleeping form into the bed, careful not to awaken him. He stared at Caden's face, marveling how amazing the experience was to have a son like him. His heart was swelling with love and pride that he had fathered such a magnificent offspring. He felt so proud of himself.
He hugged Clarice and planted a kiss on her forehead. "Thank you so much for giving me a wonderful son, babe. I'm so happy right now. Words are not enough to express how I feel right now. I've been wishing for a son of my own. It has been one of my deepest wishes and now that it has finally been given to me, I couldn't ask for more."
"You deserve a good and wonderful son because you are a terrific father," Clarice said, kissing his lips affectionately.
The couple engaged in a passionate kiss that lasted for a few minutes.
After the couple's heart-stopping kiss ended, Alpha Callum needed to go back to the mansion. "I have to check the people there. Will you be okay here alone with our son?" he asked.
"Yes, of course. Your son and I will be fine. I have everything I need here. You are free to go, you have a pack to run after all," she said, her eyes filled with understanding and love for him.
Alpha Callum planted a kiss on her head. "I'm so lucky to have you and our son in my life. I don't want these happy moments to end," he said in a serious tone, then cleared his throat to make an announcement. "Babe, I finally decided to divorce my wife after she returns home from her trip abroad. I have to do this, so I can finally give you and Caden a happy home. I want the three of us to live under the same roof as one happy family. I want to wake up every day in the same bed as you," he sincerely said. His eyes spoke volumes.
His heartfelt declaration took Clarice off guard. "A-are you sure of your decision?" she finally asked. She couldn't be happy yet even if she wanted to.
Alpha Callum nodded his head. "Yes, this is all I ever wanted from the moment I discovered our son's existence. I want us to be together as one happy family. How about you? What do you want?"
Clarice smiled. "Same with what your heart wants. Alright then, let's do it!" she said excitedly.
Alpha Callum hugged her tightly. "Let's wait until Viviana returns. I will end my marriage with her and file a divorce," he said with finality in his voice.
"OK," she responded merrily, her heart was bursting with happiness. She didn't expect he would decide so fast after being with Caden for just a few days. Her son is the catalyst that ultimately pushes Callum to sever his ties with his wife.
Despite the good news, she was getting worried as well. She started to feel guilty about her role in the breakdown of Luna Viviana's marriage with Callum.
Damn!
Why can't she be fully happy?
Why does she feel guilty when she should feel happy now?
Grrr! To hell with worry and fear! She deserves to be happy too!
Starting today, she will stop caring for others. She will just focus on her own happiness and the happiness of the people she cares about.
It's now her time to be happy, and she deserves to be happy just like everyone else.
"I'm going now, babe. I'll come tonight if I'm no longer busy with pack affairs," Alpha Callum said, planting a kiss on her head.
"OK, go now," she said.
After informing his son that he would go somewhere and return tonight to be with him, Alpha Callum left the room.
Clarice sat on the bed, wondering what to feel right now after Callum declared to divorce his wife? A mixture of happiness and worry floated in her mind and heart.
Damn! Why is she getting restless now?
What does she truly want?
'A happiness in which I don't have to hurt anyone.' She honestly answered her own question. But she couldn't get complete happiness if Callum was still married to another woman. Luna Viviana had to give up her husband so she and her son could finally start a happy family with Callum.
Clarice stared at the window blankly.
It seems the Moon Goddess was subjecting her again to another round of pressure cooker tests.
Damn! She looked heavenward and sighed heavily.
