113. Why Not?
One week later.
Clarice had just finished eating dinner and Demetria was out of the house when a sudden craving for blood attacked her.
She has been practicing non-stop how to use her power properly, so she kind of forgot she was now a vampire.
Demetria is out of the house and Clarice has no other choice but to drink the chicken's blood. She was hoping that the animal's blood would quench her thirst.
She walked to the main door and looked at the chicken she had just fed with rice a while ago. She untied the chicken from the rope and brought it to the kitchen sink. Then she froze the poor unsuspecting animal, slashed its neck with a kitchen knife and let blood drip onto the porcelain bowl.
She ignored the guilt she felt while murdering the poor chicken. She just wanted to survive today, so she must kill the innocent chicken. No choice. Sigh.
After the chicken's last blood was squeezed from its body, she put the lifeless animal in the sink to be cooked in a delicious dish later. She picked up the bowl and drank fresh blood. It tasted different, not as delicious as Demetria's blood, but it was still fresh blood, so her body adjusted quickly to the unique taste of chicken blood.
She waited for her body to grumble in protest, resulting in vomiting, but it never happened.
She smiled in relief. Success!
After she finished drinking the chicken's blood, she boiled water in the induction stove and cleaned the chicken, cut it into serving size and put it in the fridge for later use.
Done, she sat on the chair, resting while looking at the window, feeling satisfied that the chicken blood managed to satisfy her cravings for blood.
Hooray! She no longer has to drink anyone's blood!
She smiled happily. Tears of joy fell from her eyes. She used to worry so much about drinking other people's blood, but now that she had a better alternative, she was greatly relieved. She felt at peace with herself as she fully embraced her vampire side.
Silence enveloped her mind for a few minutes.
What to do next?
Ah, it's time to practice her powers.
She fixed her eyes on the ceramic plate on the dishwasher rack near the kitchen sink. A few minutes later the plate floats in the air and freezes in front of her face. She grinned broadly and grabbed the plate, putting it down on the table.
"Fantastic! My power is handy!" Clarice roared in a thrilled voice. She can do so many things with her power. She is truly lucky and blessed.
What if she suggests to Demetria that the core be fed with animal blood? Will that be okay?
But her mentor will definitely oppose her suggestion because the core is a special machine that holds everything together, therefore it requires good quality blood coming directly from the guardian's body.
She immediately discarded the idea. She stood up and left the house.
Outside she stood on the edge, staring at the wide ocean as far as her eyes could see.
Time to practice levitating in the air.
A few minutes later, she can be seen hovering in the air, but she didn't venture far into the sea because she was afraid she might fall and injure herself. She hasn't perfected her levitation skills yet. There are still so many things to improve when it comes to properly executing her powers.
After hovering above the house for a few minutes, she decided to stop, gradually descending to the ground, enjoying the gentle breeze caressing her skin.
She stared in the far distance. "I'm coming home soon. Please wait for me, my beloved husband and son," she murmured. Her heart throbbed painfully inside. She missed them so much. Her longing was so deep it brought tears to her eyes.
A lot of times, she entertains the possibility of teleporting to her home, but she decides against it because her teleporting skills are not perfect yet. She wants to go home only after she has perfected her training for safety reasons.
She looked at the chicken and froze them using her hands. She succeeded! She unfroze them after a few minutes.
She smiled triumphantly. Activating her powers is getting easier with each passing time.
She teleported back to her room.
She landed on her bed, smiling brightly. She gets up and grabs some clothes from the closet. Time for a shower!
After showering, she returned to the kitchen and began cooking preparations. She cooked a delicious chicken casserole. The chicken serves two purposes. She doesn't feel guilty about the chicken anymore.
After cooking, she ate her meal with gusto. Later, she will share her chicken dish with Demetria when she arrives home.
After washing the dishes and tidying up the kitchen, she went to the living room to practice again.
She settled down on the sofa and practiced illusions.
She managed to summon a loaded gun in her hand when Demetria finally arrived home. She made the gun disappear and looked at her mentor.
"How's your day going, dear?" Demetria asked.
"Awesome! Everything was great. I finally managed to drink the chicken blood while you were away, and it tasted not as delicious as your blood, but my body didn't reject the blood, so I'm a happy camper," Clarice replied cheerily.
"Nice to know that. Good for you, at least you have other options. I don't like the taste of animal blood. I tried it once, but I never did it again since there is no shortage of human blood. I can enter a residential home anytime and drink people's blood while they are sleeping. I also heal the punctures I make on their bodies after I'm done drinking their blood. My victims will wake up in the morning feeling dizzy, but no real harm is done," Demetria explains.
"Ah, okay," Clarice murmured. "Um, if I get injured accidentally, will my body heal fast?"
"Yes. Try it," Demetria replied. "Cut your arms and see if it heals right away."
Clarice used the power of illusion and summoned a knife in her hand. She quickly made a small cut in her left arm, flinching inwardly, then observing what happened next. The healing started right away. The open wound healed quickly. Only blood remains on the skin. "Cool!" she gushed in awe and amazement.
Demetria said, "Do you want to know if you have the ability to heal other people's injuries? For example, I got stabbed with a knife, or something like that."
Clarice responded, "Yeah, I would love to."
"Alright, let's do it!" Demetria produced a knife and made a tiny cut in her left arm. "Now try to heal my open wound. Place your hand on my wounded arm and instruct your mind to heal it. Try it," Demetria ordered.
Clarice touched her mentor's injured arm and focused on healing it. The first few minutes, nothing happened. She failed to heal the wound. She's increasingly worried because more fresh blood is coming out of her mentor's wound, and she can't make it stop.
"Stop worrying, Clarice. Focus on healing my arm," Demetria said gently.
"OK," Clarice replied nervously.
Thankfully, the healing process started, and the wound was completely healed in just a few seconds.
Demetria grins. "Well done, dear. You did it!"
"Yeah, congrats to me! I learned something new today." Clarice smiled happily. The whole experience was nerve-wracking.
"Do you want to lick the blood on my arm?" Demetria asked.
Clarice shakes her head. "No, thanks," she replied. Not in the mood to drink blood today. She was still visibly shaken by the whole thing. Too much blood had been lost before she managed to heal the wound completely. She needs to work hard to improve her healing skills in the days to come.
"Alright, I'm going to my room to clean my arm. If you need anything from me, come to the 3rd floor anytime," Demetria said.
"OK. Thank you," Clarice replied.
Demetria climbs the stairs while Clarice sits on the sofa, thinking about what to do next.
Suddenly, a nice idea popped up in her mind. Why doesn't she teleport to Demetria's house on the outskirts of the city for a short time?
It's a brilliant idea to test her teleportation skills. How far can she go? If she can do it successfully, she will be able to teleport home even for just a few minutes.
She just wants to see her husband and her son, even for a few seconds.
She closed her eyes, concentrating, teleporting herself to Demetria's house on the outskirts of the city.
In the blink of an eye, Clarice disappeared from the sofa. A moment later she found herself at Demetria's home on the outskirts of the city.
"Yes! I did it!" Overjoyed, she jumped up and down after a successful teleportation outside the sacred mountain.
Hmm...
What's next?
Right now, the desire to teleport home is intensifying. She was getting excited about the idea of visiting her beloved husband and son today.
She grinned mischievously. "Why not?"
She closed her eyes and started the process of teleporting home. A few minutes later, she disappeared from Demetria's house in the blink of an eye.
