40. Spread Kindness
A few days later, Alpha Callum fulfilled his promise. He and Beta Amir return to Lashpar Village via teleportation, bringing with them groceries and relief goods for flood survivors.
They arrive at the basketball court where Marina and the rest of the family are currently staying.
Marina was overwhelmed with the groceries and help she and the survivors received from visitors.
Marina introduced her husband to Alpha Callum. "This is my husband. His name is Carlos," she said.
The men greeted each other with a handshake.
"Thank you so much, sir, for the help. My wife and I appreciate it very much," Carlos said in a grateful tone.
"We're glad to be of help to you and the other survivors," Alpha Callum replied in a cheerful tone.
"How is Caden? Is he still in the hospital? Is he okay now?" Marina asked worriedly.
"Yes, he's fine now. We didn't take him to the hospital. My grandfather is a healer and gave my son herbal medicine to cure his recurring fever. He had no fever the following day," Alpha Callum explained.
"That's good news! I feel truly relieved now," Marina smiled, pleased with the news that her beloved charge was now completely healed from his recurring fever.
Alpha Callum cleared his throat. "Um, guys, I have a proposition for you, only if you agree. If you have no place to erect your house in this area, then I would like to offer you to relocate to my grandfather's 10-hectare land. The place is flood-free, surrounded by mountains, towering trees and lush vegetation. The land is fertile, and the lake is far from the house. You can stay at my grandfather's house. It's big enough for three people, and he loves company. If you agree with my proposal, we can bring you to the farm tomorrow morning."
The couple looked at each other, weighing their options.
"The land is fertile and earning a living is never a problem. My grandfather plans to transform the land into crop-producing land, and he needs a helping hand, so you guys can earn money for your livelihood. That's my guarantee. Staying in the house is free, and food is free. You have nothing to worry about. This is our way of thanking you, guys, for raising our son," Alpha Callum said thoughtfully.
"Can my wife and I discuss your proposal first?" Carlos asked.
"Sure," Alpha Callum replied. "I'll get back to you after half an hour," he said, and left the couple's tent, heading to the house of the village leader to discuss with them his intention to donate construction materials to erect wooden houses for the survivors.
Halfway there, he met his beta. "How's it going?" he asked.
"The village leader is happy with our intention to help. I told them that we will donate construction materials for the new houses, and they are very enthusiastic about our pledge," Beta Amir explained.
"Good. We are not going to donate money because they might be tempted to use it for their personal gain," Alpha Callum said wisely.
"Alpha, how about the couple? Did they accept your offer?" Beta Amir asked.
"They asked me for a few minutes to decide, so I left them in their tent. I will return later to know their decision," Alpha Callum said. "Let's go back to the car. I have something important to tell you."
"What is it, Alpha?" Beta Amir asked anxiously.
"Follow me to the car," Alpha Callum ordered.
They moved towards their car which they had parked near the road and got into the vehicle.
There was thick silence inside the vehicle.
Beta Amir was getting anxious. "Alpha, please speak now. I'm dying to know this important thing you want to tell me. Are you going to fire me?" he finally asked, dreading hearing his answer.
Alpha Callum shook his head. "No. What makes you think I will fire you?"
Beta Amir smiled in relief. "Whew, thank goodness. I thought I was getting fired."
Alpha Callum took a deep breath. "Listen carefully, a big change is about to happen soon," he said in a serious tone.
"I'm all ears, Alpha," Beta Amir stated calmly, listening attentively, curious about what the big change was all about.
"I'm going to divorce my wife," Alpha Callum declared.
"Whaaaat!?" Beta Amir's eyes almost popped from their pocket. "Alpha, a-are you serious?" he asked in disbelief.
Alpha Callum glared at his beta. "Huh? Do I look like joking to you?" he growled.
"Copy, Alpha," Beta Amir said, scratching his head. "Um. May I know what's the reason you are divorcing Luna Viviana?"
"Because of Clarice and our son. With them, I find my happiness. I don't love my wife the way I love my fated mate Clarice. I have been in a loveless marriage to Viviana for many years. It's time to end our marriage so we both can be happy. She is free to find her own happiness after the divorce," Alpha Callum explained.
Beta Amir could only nod his head. "I understand, Alpha. But I'll be honest with you, your wife will go crazy if you divorce her."
"I know... that's why you need to assign people discreetly to watch over her every move, she must not become a danger to other people, and she can't put her life at risk due to the divorce," Alpha Callum emphasized clearly what he wanted to happen.
"In short, we will assign bodyguards to accompany Luna Viviana everywhere to monitor her actions 24/7," Beta Amir said in comprehension.
Alpha Callum nodded his head. "Yup, that's right."
"Noted, Alpha," Beta Amir said apprehensively.
"One more thing, I need you to call the owner of the rental vacation house because we need to rent that place again. We will rent it for a few months until we can find a perfect house for Clarice and Caden to stay in. Lorey will accompany them as well. I want a house that is near the school for my son's schooling in the future," Alpha Callum instructed.
"Got it, Alpha. Anything else?" Beta Amir took a mental list of everything the Alpha wanted so that he wouldn't forget a single thing.
"I will buy a brand-new car soon for Clarice and my son and also for Grandpa," Alpha Callum said.
"Noted," Beta Amir replied. "Anything else?"
"I think that's all for now," Alpha Callum replied. "Let's go back to the tent to see the couple. I think they have already reached a decision by now."
"OK," Beta Amir said, getting out of the car.
The men went back to the couple's tent. Carlos and Marina were already waiting for them outside the tent.
"So, what is your decision, guys?" Alpha Callum asked.
"We will accept your offer, sir," the couple replied in unison.
"Good," Alpha Callum was pleased with their decision.
"Um, can we leave after three days? We still have some personal things to settle before we leave this place. Please?" Marina pleaded.
"Sure, no worries. My assistant, Beta Amir, will return here to bring the construction materials and also to fetch you in three days' time. So get ready by then," Alpha Callum said casually.
"Thank you, sir," Marina and Carlos said in unison.
After chatting for a few minutes, Alpha Callum finally bid farewell to the couple. The men leave the village, travel on the road and teleport back to the mansion, just in time for Luna Viviana's call.
