62. Goodbye To The Past!
After the lavish wedding ceremony, the dust had settled down. Clarice embraced her new life as Charice Evans, Alpha Callum's wife and officially the Luna of the Savage Howl Pack.
Every minute she spends with her family is filled with wonderful moments. Clarice feels like she's floating in heaven every single day. Her wonderful life deeply masks the horrific past she encountered at the hands of Aurelia and Kaspar.
She finally believed that the Moon Goddess had given her a new life as a reward for surviving such a tragic past. Now she can only see a lifetime of happiness ahead of her.
Her happiness radiated in her face every single day as she went through her duties and responsibilities as a loving mother to her son and a devoted wife to her husband, Alpha Callum.
She had a profound belief that her happiness would last forever because she had finally moved on from her past.
...
One month later.
It was a sunny afternoon when Clarice, Alpha Callum, Lorey and Caden visited the farm and reunited with Grandpa Eliezer, Marina and Carlos.
They were having a picnic in the lake, enjoying the afternoon breeze and in the company of each other when Beta Amir arrived at the lake to join them.
"What's the news back home?" Alpha Callum asked his assistant.
"Not much, but I received a message, an invitation to Luna Charice," Beta Amir said.
A deep frown appeared on Alpha Callum's face. "What kind of invitation? And who sent the invitation?"
Clarice observed Beta Amir's face. An uneasy feeling gripped her heart, as if she already knew where the invitation came from. "Invitation? For what?" she asked curiously, knowing that as the Luna of the Savage Howl Pack she had to honor some commitments related to her position as the Luna of the Rogue Pack.
"Luna, it's related to your formal introduction to the Luna Association. I think they are going to elect a Supreme Luna soon, so you might be interested in participating and becoming a participant eligible for the position," Beta Amir said, removing the invitation card from his duffle bag and handing it to her.
Clarice opened the invitation card with shaky hands. Her eyes instantly noticed the familiar handwritten message of her ex-best friend Aurelia. The pain of betrayal gripped her heart, bringing tears of anger to her eyes. Ignoring the turbulent emotion rising in her heart, she continued reading the message on the card. Aurelia required her presence at the upcoming gathering, a meeting for all Lunas to be held in a private place.
She knows this event very well because she was a member of the association when she was still married to Alpha Bruce and regularly attended such meetings. She even brought Aurelia with her to one of the meetings.
Tears of hatred and pain shimmered in her eyes.
"How dare she?" Clarice gritted her teeth in anger and quickly shredded the invitation into pieces with her trembling hands and threw them onto the ground. The remembrance of the torture she encountered at the hands of Kaspar and Aurelia came back to her in full force, making her body tremble in rage.
"Babe, calm down," Alpha Callum said, rubbing her back gently, soothing her turbulent emotions. "You can always turn down the invitation for your own peace of mind. You don't have to attend meetings requested by outside groups and associations. No one can force you."
She looked into his eyes and smiled. "You are right. I don't need to stress myself over such trivial matters."
Beta Amir cleared the lump that formed in his throat, feeling guilty that he had picked the wrong time to bring up the subject. "I'm sorry for bringing this up, Luna Charice. Please accept my apology," he said apologetically.
Clarice smiled at Beta Amir, instantly putting him at ease. "No need to apologize. It's your job to hand us all invitations. I want you to make a letter and send it to Luna Aurelia of the Bloodhound Pack and inform her that I'm not interested in attending the said event. It's up to you how you write it," she said. Her eyes glimmered in satisfaction, already anticipating Aurelia's rage now that she had openly ignored her request.
If Aurelia suspected her true identity and intentionally sent the invitation to draw her out to satisfy her curiosity, she would die trying. She will not tolerate Aurelia's scheming this time around!
She has a good marriage and a bright future ahead of her.
She had a new life she wanted to protect and completely cutting ties with her past is important for her peace of mind and long-lasting happiness.
Aurelia was the monster, the silent mastermind that orchestrated the downfall of her marriage to Alpha Bruce. She will not let that greedy, selfish and cruel woman destroy what she has achieved today.
"From now on, any message coming from Aurelia, the Luna of the Bloodhound Pack will go straight to the trash bin. I have no intention of reading and accepting any future message or invitation coming from her or from the Luna association. I don't want to associate myself with them or anyone outside the Savage Howl Pack territory. That's all, Amir." Clarice concluded their conversation in a tone filled with authority, completely shutting the door of her past behind her.
"Copy, loud and clear, Luna," Beta Amir said. He stood up and joined the others in the inviting water.
"You did the right thing, babe," Alpha Callum said softly, engulfing her in a sweet embrace.
She kissed his jaw and smiled. "Thank you for understanding my situation always. Thank you for your love. I can finally bury my past behind me and start a happy life with you and our son. You have made all good things possible for me. I love you so much!" she said, her eyes burning with love and affection for him.
Alpha Callum was her everything before, today and forever. She will cherish every moment with him now that they were finally given a second chance at love and redemption.
Caden waved at his parents from the water and shouted, "Daddy, Mommy, jump into the water!" He summoned them happily.
Alpha Callum and Clarice smiled and obliged their son. They jumped into the water and joined in the fun.
Up in the sky, the sun shone brightly.
The weather was perfect for picnics, swimming and family bonding.
When the group emerged from the water one hour later, they gathered around the table and ate the delicious food they had prepared for the occasion.
Clarice smiled brightly, happy to be surrounded by her loved ones. Completely shutting her door on her past, forgetting revenge made her feel better and calmer.
It's definitely worth it.
All she can see now in front of her are endless clouds of happiness.
She was truly blessed and grateful for this opportunity. She hopes her future with Callum will be smooth sailing, and they will not encounter serious problems down the road.
She embraced her son lovingly. She would do anything to give him a secure and happy family life.
After a few hours of bonding with the folks at the farm, Clarice's entourage bid them goodbye, promising to visit again two weeks later.
They all went home that night, wearing a happy smile on their faces.
