Chapter 15 The Lady
Lena didn't know what to say when Alia wanted to hear her thoughts on Henderson getting married and she was glad when Henderson came to the rescue saying he wasn't interested in getting married to anyone and that Lena was doing great taking care of Itzel.
Lena was tempted to find out why there was always a change in Henderson's mood whenever Alia brought up the talk about him getting married or Itzel's mom but she scolded herself not to pry into his personal life, after all, that wasn't her business. One thing that still bothered Lena was Alia's sudden change, and the apology appeared too good to be true especially since it was coming from Alia.
Days Later...
Lena was in her room, she had just finished talking to Matteo who had called up to check on her. He asked if he could come to check on her and Trent but she told him not to, she didn't think it was right to let Matteo come visit. It wasn't her house, she was just a worker and she was very well aware of her boundaries and she certainly didn't want Alia to make a big deal out of it. She explained her reason to Matteo who understood and said they could go out one anytime when they were both free and Trent didn't have school.
A knock came on the door after Lena put her phone away.
"Come in, " she mumbled as she sat up on the bed.
"Ma'am, " surprise flashed Lena's eyes when the door screeched open and Alia stepped in. Alia had gone out for shopping earlier and Lena didn't know she had returned and it was quite surprising seeing Alia walk into her room.
"I thought you went out, " Lena uttered when Alia had fully entered the room.
"I did but the mall I visited didn't impress me that much so I had to come back also because I wanted to ask for your help."
"Huh? My help?" Lena looked at Alia with raised brows.
A smile embraced Alia's lips, "Yes, your help. Can I sit?"
"Sure, " Lena gave a small smile and then she shifted creating space for Alia to sit since she was seated at the edge of the bed.
"Ma'am, I don't think I'll be of any help. No offense but why would your brother listen to me if you were unable to convince him?" Lena's eyes narrowed in confusion once Alia was done telling her what she wanted her help with. Alia wanted Lena to help convince Henderson to get married and Lena found that odd. She was only Itzel's Nanny how then could her words matter to Henderson?
"None taken, Lena. Trust me, I know what I'm saying. Henderson might not listen to me but he might listen to you. All I want you to do is recommend the lady who would be visiting soon say nice things about her and help me make sure that Itzel likes her. You might not know this but Henderson values your opinion." Alia took a pause and stared at Lena making sure that she was listening to her when she was sure of that she continued.
"Take a look at Itzel, don't you think she needs the love of a mother? You have a son right just think how it would be without you in his life. Please consider this at least not for me but for Itzel's sake. I'll leave you to think about it, I just hope you grant my humble request, " Placing a hand on Lena's shoulder Alia smiled before she turned around and left the room.
A lady was visiting who was she? And why did Alia feel that she could help, different thoughts ran through Lena's mind. She didn't know what to do, first Henderson made it clear on several occasions that he wasn't interested in getting married and now Alia was putting her in a tight spot by asking her to get involved in all of these.
Later that day....
"I'm coming, " Lena muttered getting off the couch and sprinting to the door. The doorbell kept ringing repeatedly in quite a short period. The door flung open and closed with a thud just when Lena was about to open it, the door would have hit her hard if she hadn't stepped back right on time.
Lena's eyes were fixed on the lady who was standing in front of the door and she took in her features. The lady had red hair, green doe eyes, a straight nose and plump lips painted in bright red lipstick. She was wearing a bodycon gown that accentuated her figure and showed a lot of cleavage which almost appeared like her tits were going to pop out of the dress any moment. Who was this lady? Maybe one of Henderson's flings but as far as she could remember it's been months since Henderson brought any lady to the house and those times the ladies never came during the day, they came at night and left very early in the morning.
"Maya, " Alia called her lips widening in a smile that reached her eyes. She had just come downstairs when she saw Maya standing at the door.
Maya took her eyes off Lena bringing an end to the intense stare-down that was going on between them sooner.
Was this the Lady Alia was talking about? Lena wondered when she saw how they embraced each other happily. If she was, Lena didn't think that she was going to show up this soon.
"Lena this is the lady I told you about. Her name is Maya, " Alia introduced Maya after she faced Lena when she broke the hug with Maya.
"She is the Nanny, right?" Maya kept a scrunched-up face her lips curling up in disgust as her eyes lingered from Lena's head to toe.
"Yes, but she is more like a family friend, " Alia smiled holding Lena's hand and that took her by surprise. Since when did Alia start to consider her as a family friend?
"I see, " Maya huffed glaring at Lena.
Alia who noticed how Maya was acting with Lena decided to step in.
"Come with me I'll show you to your room." Alia smiled taking Maya's hand. She didn't want Maya to mess things up because of her dislike for Lena, they needed Lena and to get what they wanted they had to win her trust and try to treat her right.
"Ok Alia, " A giggle erupted from Maya's lips. Her joy knew no bounds now that she had finally made her way into the mansion, that was the beginning of her conquering.
Maya paused as they walked making Alia halt as well, and then she turned swiftly to face Lena who was still standing there her thoughts had multiplied. Something was off with these two.
"Make sure you bring my suitcase, it's in front of the door, Nanny," Maya ordered with a demeaning look and then she ambled away with Alia before Lena could give her a response.
Lena took a sharp breath and slowly exhaled as she watched them till they were finally out of sight. Just when she was trying to figure out Alia's true motive a new person comes into the picture and to Lena Maya wasn't any less different. Thinking about it, she felt a strong need to turn down Alia's request, was this really the lady she wanted her brother to get married to? Lena hated being judgemental but from the first impression Maya left she couldn't help it.
