Chapter 17— Mission To Accomplish
Alia and Maya sat on the couch waiting for Henderson and Lena to return, they were both furious when they asked for Lena's whereabouts and were told by one of the workers that she had followed Henderson out.
"I can't take this anymore, why would Lena go with Hender?" Maya whined burying her face in her palms.
"Calm down Maya, " Alia sighed placing her hands on Maya's shoulder and pulling her up.
Just when Maya sat up there heard the sound of laughter as the door pulled open. Henderson stepped in followed by Lena they still has smiles on their face after their laughter died down.
The smile on Henderson's face faded into a sneer when he saw Maya stand up to her feet and so did Alia.
"Maya, you are still here, " he raged his angry gaze piercing Maya as he walked towards her.
"Henderson, we've been worried where did you two go?" Alia chipped in coming in front of Maya.
"Maya was unable to sleep, she had to wait for you to...."
Henderson cut Alia off before she could finish her statement.
"I don't care if she sleeps or not. I just want her out of my sight this instant, " he stated in a fierce tone.
Maya shuddered and held onto Alia's arm.
Alia let out a dark cackle before wearing a straight expression, "She is going nowhere, if she goes I go with her. Moreover, it's already late and it would mean you kicking your sister and your childhood friend to the streets late at night."
Henderson scoffed when he saw Maya smile proudly, she was using his sister to get to him. And his sister was giving her the chance to by emotionally blackmailing him.
"Whatever. You two do as you please. But warn Maya to stay off my tracks for as long as she stays here, " he warned with coldness blazing in his voice.
"Good night Lena, " Henderson expression lightened up as he veered to Lena.
"Good night Sir, " She replied with a small smile.
Henderson scowled at Maya and Alia after he averted his gaze from Lena before he stormed out of the living room and headed to his room.
Lena let out a breath she hadn't realised she had been holding seeing the scene that took place. Once again they pissed Henderson off she wished Alia could be more understanding and see things from Henderson's point of view. She still couldn't believe that she was now friends with Henderson, if anyone has told her that there would ever be a time when they would become friends she would never have agreed, but now it did happen.
"Good night, " Lena muttered to Alia and Maya breaking the silence filled with death stares she got from Maya.
"I wish you have such a good night that you die in your dreams." Maya snarled with hatred evident in her eyes as she looked condescendingly down on Lena as though she was a piece of thrash.
Lena wasn't oblivious to the fact that Maya didn't like her but wishing her death was extreme.
"Maya, " Alia cautioned.
"Sorry, " Alia apologised turning to Lena whose expression was hard to decipher. She just kept a face void of expression.
Lena nodded before she ambled away.
"Why did you have to apologise to that bitch? Henderson even said goodnight to her and not to us," Ali fumed plopping on the couch when Lena was gone.
Alia grinned evilly before taking a sit beside Maya.
"Chill girl, just chill. We need Lena, let's keep it this way. You'll be the tormentor and I'll be the mediator that way it would be easier to strike."
"Oh, I see what you did there, "Maya's lips curved into a mischievous gleam.
"To making Lena's life miserable, " Alia smirked extending her hand to Maya for a high-five.
"To Lena's misery, " Maya beamed as they did a high five.
.......
....
Days Later..
Despite the fact that Lena was trying so hard to avoid Maya, Maya always found a way to trouble her. It was either she was making her do chores that weren't a part of her job but when she thought about it she kind of blamed herself as she remembered those days she usually complained about having no work to do around the house.
"What are you doing here?" Itzel crossed her arms over her chest when her door screeched open revealing Maya.
Ignoring the unwelcoming look on Itzel's face Maya walked into the room and sat on the bed beside Itzel.
"I just came to talk Honey. I just want us to be friends just the way you are with..." Before Maya could finish her statement Itzel's laughter filled the room.
Maya's brows creased in confusion seeing Itzel laugh.
"Friends? You can never be like Aunt Lena. Aunt Lena loves me and I know you don't, you are only pretending to be nice to me because you want to marry my Daddy, " Itzel nose crinkled in disgust as she spoke.
Maya was taken aback by Itzel's smartness, she didn't expect this much from a kid. When Alia told her how smart Itzel she thought Alia was just blabbing and showering the girl with accolades as usual.
Maya frowned hearing all Itzel thought about her even though the little girl wasn't wrong she couldn't admit it.
Her frown faded into a smile when she saw how Itzel stared at her, from her expression Maya knew Itzel wasn't interested in talking to her but that wasn't going to make her leave, she was only going to leave the room when her mission for coming was accomplished.
"It saddens me that you think I'm not a good person, but I promise you that I'll do whatever it takes for you to like me. And it's true I want to marry your Daddy, but it isn't true that I'm pretending to be nice to you because of that. I really want to be your Mommy."
"I don't need a Mommy but if you'll do anything it takes for me to like you then I want you to be nice to Aunt Lena and I might change my mind, " Itzel muttered looking up at Alia.
"Fine." Alia nodded. She wasn't fine with what Itzel was asking of her but to make Itzel be on her side she just had to do one thing pretend to be nice to Lena just like she was pretending to like Itzel.
Maya wasn't someone who was fond of kids she hated kids as though they were her worst nightmare. To her children were burdens that took the fun out of living a good life, caging people in misery and worrisome responsibilities.
"Good. You can leave now, " Itzel uttered and Maya's eyes narrowed. That wasn't the reaction she expected from Itzel when she just agreed to be nice to her beloved Nanny. She looked forward to at least a smile from Itzel when she agreed, now she was certain that Itzel was going to be a hard nut to crack but she was willing as long as she was going to get what she wanted.
"Kiddo, I'll leave but before then you need to know this. Do you really think your dearest Nanny loves you? Even if she does it's because she likes your Daddy. She wants him to be Trent's Daddy, she doesn't love you as much as she loves Trent. If she did why would she go out with Trent and leave you behind?" Maya made a sad face as she tried to poison Itzel's mind.
Itzel lips were now in a pout and she gazed downwards. Maya smiled when she saw the look on her face, her plan was working just the way she wanted. Earlier Alia overheard Lena speaking with Matteo on the phone that he was already outside the mansion waiting for them. After Lena left with Trent Alia told Maya about it and advised her to seize the opportunity to become closer to Itzel by making her feel unwanted.
Maya saw the tears that pooled in Itzel's eyes when Itzel finally lifted her head to gaze at her. She rejoiced inwardly in satisfaction, regardless of how smart Itzel was, she was still a kid and Maya was using that advantage, messing with Itzel's mind was going to be easy.
"I know you don't like Trent, Itzel. I don't too, he is trying to steal your Daddy away. If you think Lena loves you more, why don't you hurt Trent and see how much she loves you?" Maya suggested.
Itzel said nothing she just stared at Maya who had a wide smile on her face. Maya strutted up from the bed and ambled out of the room closing the door leaving Itzel to wallow in the thoughts she just filled her head with.
