Chapter 115—Worried!
"Babe, babe," Henderson called for the umpteenth time but got no response from Lena who was staring into thin air, she was lost in thoughts.
"Baby," Henderson called this time he tapped her on the shoulder and she jolted out of her thoughts.
"Sorry, did you say something?" She mumbled looking up at Henderson.
Concern etched his features as he peered at Lena. He was worried about her, ever since he stepped into the room her behaviour was unusual.
First, he had come into the room and seen her pissed when he asked her what the problem was, she said she had gotten a prank call but then the Lena he knew wouldn't get all worked up and pissed simply because of a prank call. He figured she was probably hiding something but he didn't want to bug her about it, he wanted her to tell him what the problem was when she felt like it.
"Are you still bothered about the prank call or is there something else?"
This time he had to ask, he couldn't stand seeing her stare at nothing lost in the web of her own thoughts.
Lena managed to wear a smile on her face trying to keep it as believable as possible but Henderson could see that she was forcing it.
"I'm okay. I just feel a bit tired."
Earlier Lena wanted to tell Henderson why she was so upset but then she gave it a thought and changed her mind. She knew the kind of man Henderson was, he was definitely not going to spare Shane if he was to find out the kind of words Shane had told her over the phone, and she didn't want that to happen so she just told Henderson that she received a prank call.
But for some reasons that she couldn't fathom she was very disturbed and felt uneasy, she kept thinking about the words Shane had texted her a few minutes after she had gotten dressed. It was just an eleven-word text but it made the gears of her mind spin. The message was 'Gorgeous, I get what I want no matter what it takes. She deleted the message and blocked the number afterwards including the one he had called her with.
A part of her wanted to tell Henderson but then she thought about how everything would turn out, it was going to be catastrophic. She realised that trusting people she just met was starting not to favour her, like when she trusted Venita and it ended up badly. She trusted Shane as well thinking that he was sensible but not that he was making advances at her. If only she believed Henderson's words when he said that Shane wasn't a man worthy of trust.
"Are you sure, Lee? You seem really disturbed about something. Tell me, what is it?" Henderson's voice was soft with concern and he took her hand in his caressing it while gazing into her hazel eyes.
Lena let out a short laugh, "Honey, I'm fine. I just need to get some sleep."
Henderson didn't say anything, he just nodded and grabbed a pillow positioning it behind her, he helped her lay on the bed before pulling the duvet over her.
"Goodnight, love."
He kissed her forehead before turning off the lights in the room.

Lena tried to regain her balance after the collision but she could she felt as though she was going to crash to the floor, so she prepared herself for it but she didn't fall as a pair of hands grabbed her stopping her from hitting the floor. She was thankful but the moment she hoisted her head and saw the owner of the pair of hands which had saved her from falling, her gratitude was replaced with disgust and contempt.
"Shane." Her face contorted in a frown as her eyes wandered to his hands which were still draped around her waist firmly like it was a source of energy for him.
Shane noticing the anger that emerged from Lena's orbs let go of her and she took steps backwards withdrawing from him.
"Don't you ever touch me again." She warned.
A smirk tugged the side of Shane's lips, "I think what you meant to say was thank you for saving me."
Lena scoffed," You wish. I would rather fall and break my arm than have you save me, Shane."
Shane let out a chuckle a mocking smile playing on his lips as he peeked at Lena.
"I think I kinda saved you once and now I saved you for the second time or it doesn't count?" He arched a brow at Lena who huffed in retort and folded her arms across her chest.
"What are you doing here?" Her eyes narrowed still fixed on him, the look in her eyes intensified as she awaited his response.
Shane smiled ignoring Lena's anger, to him it was like a delightful savour to his nostrils and taste buds.
"Did you miss me so much that you tracked my whereabouts?" Shane joked glancing at Lena but her response was a scowl.
"Maybe the warnings I gave you over the phone weren't enough so let me tell you this in person, stay away from me. I want nothing to do with you. About your message which said you get whatever you want no matter what, you better have a rethink now when you still have a chance before you regret it." Lena warned pointing at Shane who kept a smile on his face as Lena spoke. He seemed unbothered by Lena's words rather he enjoyed them.
"About the question you asked earlier, I came here to make a donation to the school's orphanage. Let's talk about you what are you doing here?" Shane acting like he didn't hear Lena's warning. It made Lena furious since Shane was deliberately ignoring her and was confident that Shane knew what she was doing in the school yet he still threw the question at her. She felt it was just his ploy to make her feel that seeing him was coincidental but she could bet a fortune that it wasn't a mere coincidence, Shane had a hand In it.
"Let me guess you are here to pick up your kids. It will be a delight to meet them again." Shane's mouth curved into a smile and it made Lena boil with anger.
"You'll have nothing to do with my kids. Stay away from me and my....."
"Mommy...." Lena paused shifting her attention from Shane when Itzel and Trent came running to her.
Her anger disappeared as she crouched in front of them embracing them in a warm hug.
"How are you sweeties?" She asked kissing their hair before getting up on her feet and returning her eyes to Shane, who had not moved an inch rather he was watching her with keen interest.
"Mr Shane," Itzel's and Trent's faces lit up with smiles as they took notice of him.
"Good afternoon, Sir." They greeted still smiling at him.
Lena watched with pursed lips, how was she going to tell the kids that the man who saved their lives was bad news and that they shouldn't be talking to him?
"Hello," Shane waved smiling back at them. When Lena observed that he wanted to come closer to the kids she stepped in front of them glaring up at him.
"Goodbye, we'll take our leave."
She tried to keep her tone as polite as possible but that didn't stop the stern in her voice from ongoing unnoticed.
"Bye, Trent, Itzel," Shane said as they walked away with Lena holding their hands.
Shane mentioning the kids' names was purposeful he wanted to get a reaction from Lena but she was smarter, she realised that so she just ignored his voice as though it was unwanted noise and decided to keep walking away but the kids looked behind and waved accompanied with a loud," Bye Mr Shane."
When Lena returned to the mansion she couldn't stop thinking about seeing Shane at the kids' school, it made her worried. She decided she was no longer going to hide the truth from Henderson she was going to tell him everything when he returned from his business trip and she was glad because he was going to return the next day.
Henderson was done with his business conference, it was late evening and he had just gotten into his hotel room. He grabbed his laptop and proceeded to video call Lena.
His phone buzzed, picking up the phone he saw that he had just received a message.
His brows puckered when he saw the content of the message it was a picture of Shane holding Lena by the waist and it was sent with a message that read,' Look what your wife is up to while you are on a business trip.'
He hissed, he trusted his wife and knew this probably some stupid person trying to cause a rift between him and Lena.
"Hi, Darling." Lena's excited voice came making him avert his eyes from his phone's screen to the laptop's screen.
"Baby, are you okay?"
Henderson and Lena chuckled, they had asked the same thing at the same time.
"You go first," Henderson mumbled putting his phone away.
"How was the conference?" Lena inquired.
"It was okay. I miss you and the kids."
"I miss you too baby." Lena smiled.
"How are you and the kids?"
"We are fine."
Lena sighed gazing downward.
"Babe, there is something I would like to tell you when you get..."
When she tilted her head to look at the screen, she saw that Henderson was fast asleep. She chuckled. She knew he must have been tired and she could tell he had just finished the conference seeing that he still had his full suit on. Disconnecting the call, she dialled Matteo since he and Henderson had gone on the trip together and asked him to go to Henderson's room and help him out since she wasn't there.
The Next Day****
Lena had just stepped out of the car right in front of the children's school when a car suddenly pulled over beside her.
The back door pulled open and a masked man stepped out, before she could move an inch the man grabbed her and put her into the car. Lena's driver came out of the car but before he could do anything or raise an alarm gunshots were heard and the car zoomed off.
