Chapter 113— Exposed; In Danger!
"Lena, you are here." Venita wore her fake smile once again when Lena got to her.
"I waited for you to come downstairs but you didn't so I wanted to check on you. Did you have a hard time finding your way?" Lena asked softly her voice full of concern.
"No, not at....."
The rest of Venita's statement never left her mouth as Lena smacked her hard on the face and when she was trying to recover from it. Lena slapped her yet again.
Anger was evident on Venita's face but she tried to put on some act, she gasped and held on to her cheek.
"What's the matter? What did I do wrong?"
Her cheek was burning with pain coupled with the fury that bubbled deep in her stomach, how dare Lena slap her but she buried it deep in and decided to go on with her act.
"What's the matter? What did I do wrong?"
Lena scoffed and burst out laughing.
"I think alongside being a supermodel you should be an actress too." Lena fumed.
"We forgot to tell you, Lena. Venita here has also ventured into acting, she's an actress. Her movie just came out a week ago and guess her role... She played a seductress and a mistress. I guess she was trying to act It out in real life too but she is busted." Irene who was standing behind Lena spoke for the first time mocking Venita who was glaring at her.
"What are.... you....talking about?" Venita feigned innocence, tears rolled down her cheeks as she spoke in a cracked-up tone.
"Did you also play a role as a manipulator and a liar?" Irene's voice was heavy with sarcasm as she gave Venita a dirty look.
"Irene." Lena cautioned casting a quick glance at her before shifting her gaze back to Venita.
"Lena, I think you are mistaken. Your sister doesn't like me so I get why she's saying all of those things about....."
"Shut the hell up!" Henderson yelled cutting Venita off.
"Baby, no need to stress. Just let me handle her." Lena smiled patting Henderson's shoulder.
"Back to you, wanna be mistress. You want to have a threesome why don't we start with three slaps." Lena smiled sheepishly and slapped Venita thrice before she could do anything.
"How dare you!" Venita snarled her face contorted in anger as she stared at Lena. She could no longer keep up with her act. Lena had done enough, she had slapped her five times no one had ever done that to her, her cheeks were sore and she knew they must have turned red, also she couldn't even see clearly.
"What? Did the slaps hurt? Sorry, but you deserve even more. To think that I was defending you when everyone said that you had ulterior motives, I feel awful. Of all the things you said I agree with the part where you said I was gullible. I was gullible to have trusted you but I'm glad I have finally seen your true colours." Lena fumed.
Lena felt stupid once again she trusted a foe just like she trusted Maya who almost ruined the peace and love of her children and she was about to make the same mistake again but thank goodness she realised it before things got bad and Venita succeeded.
Irene convinced Lena to go upstairs and see what Venita was up to when Venita took a lot of time and didn't come back downstairs. Cleo said she was going to stay with the kids. When they came upstairs Lena wanted to make her presence known but Irene stopped her and told her to listen and then she heard all the things Venita was saying.
At first, she thought she was hallucinating but Irene affirmed it to her. She felt betrayed and annoyed but she was at fault for trusting someone she barely knew. It hurt even more because Irene and Cleo had warned her but she never listened to them.
Venita snickered and nodded, "Honestly, I have to admit that Henderson really loves you. I mean he rejected my advances."
"Not one more word. Shut up and get out before I drag you out myself and don't you dare talk about my husband. I know he loves me and I do not need you to say it before I know it." Lena's upper lip raised in contempt as she leered at Venita.
"Time up, supermodel and actress! I can drag you if you want, I don't mind." Irene jeered laughing and pointed towards the hallway.
Venita huffed putting her hands in the air and she scooted away.
Lena took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Henderson ambled to her and wrapped his hands around her in a comforting hug.
"I'm sorry, baby." Henderson purred cupping her cheeks when they broke the hug.
"Lee, you are crying." Henderson's voice was soft with affection and he wiped the tears from Lena's face with his palm and then kissed her nose and she chortled amidst tears.
"I should be the one saying sorry. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been friends with Venita in the first place. I was so stupid to have invited her." Lena sniffed in tears.
Henderson shook his head, "Baby, don't say that you are not stupid. Even though I don't like the fact that she was here it's a good thing you invited her at least you got to know her true intentions."
"Brother-in-law you should let her cry a little for refusing to listen to us." Irene threw a jibe at Lena who shot her a glare in return.
Henderson let out a short laugh. "Please forgive her. We know Lena is the sweetest."
Irene nodded, "Well, I know that but she almost became the dumbest too..." Irene lowered her voice when she said the last part of the statement but Lena heard her clearly, she rolled her eyes at Irene who erupted into laughter.
Henderson smiled and kissed Lena.
"Please don't cry, Venita should be crying after getting all those slaps. You should be smiling." Henderson joked and Lena burst out laughing.
"True. I didn't know Miss Goody Two Shoes could also slap people." Irene said sarcastically.
"Trust me she can, I'm speaking from being a witness and from experience. It's not hearsay. My sweet wife is very good at giving deafening, blinding and brain-resetting slaps I must say." Henderson teased and Lena facepalmed.
It took her back to the first time she met Henderson, she had slapped him and also when she was working for him she slapped him too. Then if anyone had told her that she would end up getting married to the same man she would never have believed it but love brought them together, from hatred to love. Love deeper than seas.
"Now, you are going to tease me." She frowned playfully and Henderson chuckled.
"Mommy, why did that lady run off like that?" Itzel asked when Lena and Henderson came into the living room.
"Did something happen?" Trent chimed in.
Irene was about to say something but when Lena's harsh gaze descended upon her she had a rethink and kept quiet.
"She had to leave, don't worry about it." Lena smiled.
"Kids come on let's go upstairs it's time to study," Henderson stated beckoning the kids.
"Ok Dad," Trent nodded standing up but Itzel kept a gloomy expression and got up reluctantly.
"Daddy, we are on holiday do we have to study?" Itzel pouted.
"Yes, you both have to," Henderson answered in a calm but firm tone.
"Sweet Mommy," Itzel called making a sad face as she held Lena's hands hoping that Lena would make the save.
"Baby, what Daddy said. You both have to study. You can do whatever you want later. "Lena smiled.
"Fine." Itzel sighed.
Trent laughed at Itzel and she glared at him jokingly.
"Did you really have to do that? You know she was going to support her husband." Trent whispered and Itzel nodded in agreement.
"True, she is always going to be on her husband's side," she said in a whisper and they burst out laughing.
"What are you both cooking up?" Lena queried exchanging glances with Henderson.
"Babe, you don't have anything to worry about. They are just whining because according to them you are supporting your husband." Henderson chuckled.
"How did you hear that, Daddy?" Itzel frowned.
Henderson shrugged his shoulder, "That's because you are not very good at whispering, Zel."
"Not again. Brother, let's go study. It's going to be so fun. Yay! Act happy." Itzel forced a smile on her face going upstairs and Trent and Henderson followed her laughing at her drama. She was an intelligent student but the irony was that she hated studying.
"Before you both say anything. I want to say thank you and sorry as well for not listening to you guys." Lena spoke up after Henderson and the kids were out of sight.
Irene and Cleo seemed to be in thought and then they glanced at each other.
"We hate to say this but we told you so." They said in unison and chortled afterwards seeing that they said the same at the same time.
Lena smiled," Does that mean I'm forgiven?"
"Only if you agree that being friends with your partner's ex is a bad idea..." Irene started to say and turned to Cleo waiting for her to complete the sentence.
"It is a bad idea and disastrous. It is a huge No."
"I agree. A no in capital letters. NO." Lena concurred.
Cleo and Irene exchanged glances and fist-bumped.
"She learnt the best way." Irene giggled.
Cleo nodded in support, "Now I agree with the saying that experience is the best teacher."
"I hate to agree but it's true." Lena heaved a breath.

"Who wants some ice cream?" Lena asked standing up on her feet, she took her bag and slung it on her shoulder. Lena had to cover her ears because of the loud response she got from Trent followed by Itzel's.
"Me."
"Me too."
Trent and Itzel's faces lit up with smiles and they got off the bench they were sitting on and began to jump happily.
Henderson had gone on a business trip four days ago and he wasn't going to return until three days. Lena and the kids were bored of staying at home so Lena decided to bring them to the park to have some fun. The park had very few people, the park was one of the most exquisite ones in town and it was really expensive. It was one of the best amusement parks in the city. The part of the park where they were contained no one aside from them.
"OK then. Let's go," Lena mumbled coming in between them and holding their hands by both sides and then they started to walk towards the other side where they could buy ice creams.
Lena stopped abruptly and veered around, she felt like someone was behind her but not just behind her it was as though the person was following her but she saw no one. She assumed it was probably just her imagination.
"Mommy, are you ok?" Trent and Itzel asked tapping Lena.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Let's go." Lena smiled smoothing their hair and they nodded. They kept walking again but shortly afterwards Lena halted and looked behind her again but there was no one. She felt uneasy at that moment and worried.
"Did you both hear that?" Lena asked crouching in front of the kids.
"The footsteps?" Trent mumbled and Lena nodded.
"I heard it too," Itzel answered.
"Are we in danger?" Itzel panicked holding on to Lena and not letting go of Trent's hand.
"Mommy, we should just go home," Trent said with a trembling tone.
Lena's heart was beating hard in her chest she was starting to get really scared but she had to brave up and find a way to leave.
Lena mustered a smile and kissed the kids, just as she made to get up, she felt something pointed to the back of her head. A hand wrapped around her neck and pulled her away from the kids.
"Help! Somebody help!" Itzel and Trent screamed but then they noticed no one was around where they were.
"Let go of our Mommy." Itzel and Trent cried hitting the man of his legs but he didn't budge. Rather the man kicked them and they fell to the floor.
Lena could barely breathe, the man's grip on her neck was very tight around her neck.
Lena kicked the man in the groin, she managed to struggle out of his grip and run to the kids. She crouched on the floor embracing them tightly.
"Are you okay?" She inquired and they nodded amidst tears.
"Really, you want it this way woman? Why don't I just kill you and your adorable children as well?" The man winced in pain pointing the gun at them. His face morphed in anger as he stared down at Lena and the kids.
Itzel shrieked with fear wrapping her arms around Lena tightly burying her head in Lena's chest. Trent on the other hand was scared but he mustered up some courage to look at the man.
"My Daddy is not going to let you go if you try to hurt my sister and my mommy. Don't try to harm them, you can take me if you want." Trent yelled pointing at the man.
"Well, this is amusing. I love your courage boy." The man let out a wave of mocking laughter, he took steps closer to them still pointing the gun.
"Sweetheart don't speak to him, and don't say that again," Lena mumbled holding Trent's hand.
"Yes, don't talk to him. He is a bad man." Itzel cried tilting her head to look at Trent.
Suddenly, Lena saw a man walk in he was coming towards them. Trent and Itzel wanted to call put to him for help but Lena put a hand over their mouth stopping them when the man gestured them to remain calm.
The man took quick and slow steps till he was standing behind the man who was holding the gun. The man had realised that someone was behind him but before he could do anything the man had hit him on the neck with his elbow and he fell to the ground.
