Chapter 114— Let's Hang Out!
Lena couldn't have been more grateful to the man who saved her and the kids' lives. She could not stop singing his praise to Henderson when they got home that day and met him in the mansion surprisingly.
He was just about to come to meet them at the park when they stepped in.
They narrated the whole incident to him and he was really worried about their safety Lena assured him they were safe but one thing that still bothered her was why the man had pointed a gun at them. He didn't ask them for money also from everything that transpired, she didn't think that he had plans to kidnap them but he did talk about killing them.
Trent didn't stop teasing Itzel about how scared she was when the man tried to harm them. From the way Trent acted it out Henderson couldn't help but laugh. Henderson was proud of Trent's but he told him not to talk about being taken away again. Henderson got Trent a gift to commend him for the boldness and courage he showed.
Henderson was suspicious that maybe Venita had a hand in it but Lena didn't think so since Venita had sent her a message of apology since she wasn't picking up any of her calls. And then Lena wondered if it was Maya but again she just shrugged the thoughts off, Maya was gone from their lives.
She concluded that maybe the man was a bloodthirsty killer and they almost became victims that day but thankfully because of that man she and the kids were still alive.
Sadly before the police could come to the scene after the man who had saved them called them, the man who tried to kill them managed to escape.
Henderson got Lena and the kids' personal bodyguards to make sure they were safe. The bodyguards were to go with Lena and the kids wherever they wanted to go.
Henderson was seated in his office, he was having a meeting with a CEO who had come to seek a partnership with his company.
"Baby," Henderson's lips curved happily and stood up to his feet when he saw Lena walk into his office.
She placed the basket in her hand on the table before embracing him.
"I'm sorry I interrupted your meeting. I just brought you something, I wanted to give you a surprise." Lena smiled.
She was at home when she decided to make Henderson's favourite meal and bring it to him at the office.
"Sorry? You know I don't mind seeing you here all the time. Thank you for coming." Henderson purred kissing her.
"Babe, this is your office. Isn't it...." Lena was saying in a whisper when Henderson chipped in.
"Unprofessional?" Henderson muttered taking the last words right out of her mouth and she nodded.
"No, it's not. Now I just feel like closing for the day and returning to the house with you." Henderson mumbled and a blush crept up Lena's cheeks.
Lena shook her head, "No way Mr Bain. Enjoy your work."
The man who had been seated got up on his feet and sauntered to Lena and Henderson.
"Mr Shane." Lena gasped.
"It's you," the man smiled.
Her face brightened as she turned to Henderson. She never thought she was going to see the man again that too not in Henderson's office but she was glad to see him.
"Baby you know him?" Henderson asked surprised seeing the recognition that dawned on Lena's face.
Lena nodded with a wide grin.
"I do. He is the one I told you about. The one who saved me and the kids that day we went to the park."
"Oh," Henderson muttered glancing at Shane who had a big smile on his face as he looked at Lena.
"Oh.... Is that all you are going to say?" Lena murmured to Henderson her brows were slightly furrowed as she glanced at him.
Henderson smiled and shifted his gaze to Shane.
"Thank you, Mr Shane, for saving my wife and children."

Later that evening.
"I can't believe you actually did that." Lena exhaled in disbelief.
Henderson had just told Lena that he didn't accept the deal with Shane his reasons were that he didn't trust Shane. Also, Henderson said he found out that Shane's company was new and there wasn't more information about it.
"Baby, I told you the reasons why I didn't take his business proposal. That man is not trustworthy." Henderson explained.
Lena stared at him in thought before she spoke.
"I get it if you do not want to partner with Shane but carrying asking someone to investigate him is not a good idea. It would be intruding on his privacy."
Henderson had told her that he had plans to hire a private investigator to gather information about Shane since he didn't trust the man.
Lena had a frown on her face. Shane was kind to them, he saved their lives. What could be more than that? Lena had expected that Henderson was going to seal the deal with Shane and then they were probably going to be friends.
Henderson wrapped his arms around Lena and breathed out a sigh.
"It isn't intruding into his privacy, it's me making sure you and the kids are safe. I would do anything to make sure that no harm comes to you or the kids."
Lena smiled and kissed Henderson, she knew Henderson was doing that because he was worried about her and the kid's safety and she wanted to assure him that everything was going to be okay and he had nothing to be worried about.
"Babe, you don't have to worry. I think Shane is a good man you'll end up finding no dirt on him. And about me and the kids, we'll be fine.
"You never can tell what humans are really capable of these days but I hope you are right about Shane though." Henderson's doubt was evident in his voice.
"Honestly, I feel you don't have to worry so much. I mean with those hefty bodyguards who always have those stoic expressions, we are covered."
Henderson chuckled seeing the expression on Lena's face, her nose stuck up in the air and her lips pressed against each other.
"But do those men really have to keep following me everywhere? Earlier today when I came to the company, they insisted on following me inside I'm pretty sure if I insisted they stared outside they would have followed me into your office."
"Seems to me like they are doing their jobs pretty well, that's what I pay them for."
Henderson smiled in delight but when he saw the scowl on Lena's face his smile faded.
"Once I'm sure that everything is okay and that no harm is going to come to you or the kids again, then they won't have to follow you around."
Lena's face lit up, "Does that mean that soon they won't be our bodyguards anymore?"
Henderson hesitated before giving her a response and her brows knitted together.
"I didn't finish, I meant they would still be your bodyguards but not follow you around like that."
"Ok." Lena nodded with a smile.
It took Henderson by surprise because Lena just agreed to it without putting up a fuss, he was well aware that she never liked the idea of bodyguards following her and the kids about because of the attention it brought to them and also because it made them feel uncomfortable.
"You don't have a problem with it?" Henderson raised an amused brow.
The smile on Lena's face switched to a smirk.
"You didn't let me finish..." She said reminding him of his words earlier.
Henderson chortled, he did see that coming.
"Okay. Go on and finish, but before then do you plan to give me a condition?"
Lena giggled and nodded in response.
"You know me so well. I was going to say okay if you get bodyguards for yourself as well. Me and the kids aren't the only ones who need to be safe."
"Yes, ma'am. Your wish is my command I'll do that right away." He mumbled throwing a salute which made Lena laugh. If that was what it was going to take then to convince her then he was ready to do it.

A month had passed and Henderson found no dirt on Shane, the investigator told Henderson that Shane had spent most of his life outside the country even though he was born in Hayglow, he only returned to set up a branch of his company in Hayglow.
Nevertheless, that information wasn't enough to change Henderson's mind about who he perceived Shane to be but he decided to drop the investigation since Shane was out of their lives. The private investigator also informed Henderson that Shane left the country a few days after Henderson turned down his business proposal.
The kids had resumed school since their holiday was over. Lena was able to convince Henderson to stop the bodyguards from following them since everything was sorted out.
It was late evening, Trent, Itzel and Henderson were downstairs playing a game.
Lena just finished taking a shower, she had walked into the room when her phone started to ring. She sauntered to the bed and picked up the phone. She stared at the screen for a while when she didn't see a caller ID.
"Hello." She mumbled when she decided to take the call.
"Hi, beautiful..." A voice came from the other end. The voice sounded familiar making Lena pause as she tried to recall who owned the voice.
"Mr Shane." She spluttered confusedly. How did he get her contact and why was he calling her at such a late hour? Lena wanted to ask him all those questions but before she could open her mouth to voice them out, he beat her to it.
"I know you must be curious and have a lot of questions which I would love to answer but that would be when we see each other in person. I'm asking you out on a date."
Lena tugged on her right earlobe wondering if she had started to hear things or if she was hearing perfectly. She burst laughing.
"You are good at making jokes, Mr Shane."
"Gorgeous, you can call me Shane. Let's drop the abnormalities. Where would you like us to meet? If you don't have anywhere in mind because I know that you would want us to meet in a discrete place so your husband doesn't find out. I have a perfect place...."
"Excuse me, are you sure this isn't a wrong contact?" Lena's voice interrupted. She was trying her best to be as polite as possible, she wanted to be sure that Shane knew who he was talking to.
Lena heard a small chuckle in response to her statement.
"No, my dear. I'm speaking to Lena Henderson Bain formerly known as Lena Cohen, correct?" Shane didn't even give her time to respond, he continued to speak.
"I know I'm correct and I meant every word I said. I would like us to spend some time together and who knows you might actually like me more than you like your husband."
Shane's last words were enough to throw Lena into a fit of rage, that was enough. Now she regretted choosing to speak politely to him. Maybe she shouldn't have taken the call in the first place but since she had then it was time to make things clear to him.
"Mr Shane, this should be the last time you ever call me again. I am not interested in having anything to do with you, I do not want to spend time nor do I want to hang out with you. Also, I liked you before because I thought you were a good and reasonable man but now I have nothing other than contempt and disgust for you. I love my husband, so get those absurd thoughts and imaginations out of your head!" She snarled in annoyance emphasizing each word clearly for him before she hung up.
"Arrant nonsense," she fumed placing her hands on her hips. Shane did have some gut!
"Baby, is everything okay?"
Lena veered around when she felt a hand on her shoulder, Henderson was standing right behind her.
