Chapter 52— Goodbye Henderson!
"Mommy where are we going?" Trent asked peering at Lena his eyes filled with tears. This was the fourth time he was asking his mom that question but she was yet to give him an answer. After the lady who claimed to be pregnant with Henderson's baby stepped into the living room she spoke with Lena.
Flashback.....
"What are you talking about?" Lena stared at the lady when words finally formed in her mouth. Her chest clenched and suddenly her mouth felt dry when the lady talked about being pregnant and that Henderson was responsible but she didn't want to believe those words.
"You don't expect me to believe you, do you? I don't even know you, I've never seen you before. Why should I trust your words?" Lena muttered peering at the lady.
The lady cackled and straightened herself from the couch she was seated on.
"I'm guessing you don't believe me, You are probably thinking that I'm lying or probably trying to ruin your relationship, well, I'm not. Three months ago, I and Henderson met at a hotel during a party and somehow we ended up having sex, We exchanged contacts and I kept calling him but he never picked up. He even blocked me from contacting him, " Tears had started to roll down the lady's face as she spoke.
Lena recalled that three months back Brian had invited her and Henderson to a party but she couldn't attend with Henderson since she had a scheduled therapy session. Henderson was going to accompany her like he always did but she told him to go have fun after he dropped her off at the therapist's office. She returned to the mansion after her session but Henderson was yet to return, he came back several hours later and it was already midnight. Brian was the one who drove Henderson back home since he was dead drunk.
The next morning he had a really bad hangover and he couldn't even remember most things that had happened the previous night. Lena was disturbed but she decided not to say a word to Henderson about it since he was just out with his friends, something he didn't have time to do anymore since they got into a relationship. Henderson preferred to spend his free time with Trent, Itzel and Lena than his normal nights out at the bar.
Different thoughts flooded her mind, 'What if the words of the lady were true? No! She trusted Henderson, he wasn't going to betray her like that but considering the fact that since the start of their relationship, they were yet to get intimate. Henderson never spoke concerning it, the farthest they had good was just a steamy kiss and Henderson would usually pull away when it was getting too steamy.' Lena didn't want to believe the thoughts in her head, the lady's words were just accusations, and there was no confirmation to them. She shrugged the doubting thoughts away, she trusted Henderson, and he wasn't going to break her heart.
"I don't believe you, whatever you came here for. It is not working, so I'll advise you to take your leave." Lena stated with a straight face.
"You trust him? I think you are forgetting something, men are cheats. Every man cheats so it is not a new thing for a man to cheat. Moreover, you know the kind of reputation Henderson has, he is the ladies' man, a big-time playboy. You are not the first lady he has been with and you are definitely not going to be the last." The lady huffed staring at Lena with a mocking look.
Lena pondered on the lady's words, she was in a dilemma about what to believe.
"I went over to his office two days ago but he refused to see me, I had no choice but to come over here. I hear you are a single mom, you are a woman you should understand my plight. I don't want to raise my child all by myself." The lady continued.
Lena's mind was made up she wasn't just going to the believe the lady's words but when the lady showed her pictures of her and Henderson in bed together and the wristwatch Lena had given him which he left at the hotel the night they spent together, it changed everything. At first, she was sceptical about the pictures thinking about the possibility that the pictures could have been photoshopped but they appeared so real. The watch was the exact same thing as the one Lena had gifted him when they went out on a date, She noticed he no longer wore it three months ago but Henderson said something like the watch was really special to him so he had to keep it really safe.
The lady left after telling Lena that her name was Kyra. Lena was heartbroken, she never imagined that she was going to have to face heartbreak at this point in their relationship when everything was going smoothly. She was so in love with Henderson. After thinking everything through, she concluded the lady's words were true and she decided to leave the mansion. Her heart was a wreck, it felt as though her heart had been pierced by a million thorns. She couldn't bear the pain and the thought of having to face Henderson, she regretted everything. They all were the same, she should never have allowed herself to fall so helplessly in love with Henderson.
Lena went up to her room and packed hers and Trent's belongings into their suitcases to the bewilderment of Trent who had awoken from his nap. Lena was glad that Itzel was still asleep when she walked into her room to say goodbye to her. Trent kept asking questions as to why they were packing but Lena didn't keep him an answer. One thing Lena was worried about was bumping into Madam Carmen when leaving the mansion. Ashley one of the workers told Lena that Madam Carmen had gone out with some maids for grocery shopping. The rest of the workers tried to stop Lena from leaving but they couldn't, she said she had to leave.
Lena hailed a cab after she left the mansion having no place to go in mind. Going over to her mom's place was not an option and she didn't want to burden Matteo with her problems. After all, going to Matteo's place was going to make it easier for Henderson to reach her and she wasn't ready to see, hear or even listen to him.
"Mommy, why are we leaving?"
Trent's question drifted Lena out of her thoughts, she turned to see tears in Trent's eyes, she sighed and cupped his cheeks.
"Baby, we'll have to move to a new city for a while, OK." She smiled and then kissed his cheeks.
Back At The Mansion....
Itzel had already awakened from her nap by the time Madam Carmen had returned to the mansion. She was informed by the workers that Lena packed her things and left. Itzel was dead worried when she couldn't find Lena and Trent anywhere in the house after searching. The workers told her Lena had left with Trent, and Itzel broke into tears and called up Henderson who returned as fast as he could.
"I thought this was going to be the beginning of a new forever for us but I guess I was wrong, I should have known that this was not going to last. You should do what a good man will do take care of his responsibility, find Kyra and make up for all the things you've done to her. Tell Itzel I'm sorry for leaving the way I did but I had to, I'll always love her. Goodbye Henderson." The phone dropped from Henderson's hand by the time he was done reading the message Lena had just sent him.
"Daddy, what is it?" Itzel asked tapping her father, Colour had drained out of his eyes and he was staring into thin air with drooped shoulders. 'This couldn't be happening!
