Chapter 100—Make It Up To Him!
"Babe, I know you are hurt by all of this but please..."
Lena heaved a breath before turning to face Henderson. Lena walked straight to the car after leaving the hospital room. She was about to get into the car when Henderson caught up with her.
"if you are going to give excuses for my people then please don't because I won't listen to you."
A sigh escaped Henderson's lips and he inched closer to Lena and draped his arms around her in a warm embrace. Lena buried her face in his chest and let out her tears, Henderson smoothed her hair with one hand while the other gently parted her back as she cried. Lena sobbed holding onto Henderson tightly, "Why did she do that? She wanted to just die and neglect us once again." Lena whimpered pulling away from Henderson.
Henderson's heart was heavy with worry, he had never seen Lena act the way she did in the hospital room that was enough for him to know how her mother's action had affected her. Henderson didn't know what to say to comfort her so he just hugged her. Lena sobbed, she didn't say anything else, she just let the tears flow.
"Lena, I finally found you." Irene sighed trying to catch her breath, she was panting as a result of running around to find where Lena had stormed off too.
Lena and Henderson broke the hug. Irene sauntered to Lena and embraced her before pulling away.
"Who is with mom? Did you leave her all by herself?" Lena asked since she the only people in the room with her mom earlier were her, Henderson, and Irene but now they were all out of the room. What if her mom needed something? Who was going to help her?
"Mom? Cleo and Matteo are there with her," Irene muttered.
Lena drew in a relieved breath, "Okay."
"I thought you were upset with mom?" Irene arched a brow at Lena, a small smile playing on her lips.
"I'm still upset, but it doesn't mean that I don't care about her. Take care of Mom, because considering how angry I am I might just say some things I'm not supposed to say to her if I'm to go back into that room." Lena sighed.
"I'm mad at Mom too, she ruined yours and your brother-in-law's honeymoon." Irene frowned making Lena chuckle.
"Really Irene, such jokes at this time?" Henderson smiled shaking his head.
"Babe, can we get going now?" Lena mumbled turning to Henderson.
Henderson's forehead creased he made to kick against it and probably convince Lena to go back to meet her mom but he refrained when he saw the expression on Lena's face. He was just going to let her calm down before bringing the matter up.
"Sure, I'll just go tell Mom that we are leaving, " Henderson nodded, he kissed Lena before striding away.
"What is it? Just say what is on your mind and stop giving me that look." Lena grumbled seeing the mischievous smile that had taken over Irene's lips.
"So how was your wedding night?" Irene giggled winking at Lena.
"Well, I slept off so nothing happened before I could realise, it was already morning." Lena sighed. The thought of it clouded her brows once again.
Irene's eyes narrowed, and she exhaled in disbelief, "You are joking right?" she stared at Lena with raised brows but when she saw that the look on her face was still the same she believed Lena was being truthful.
"Really Lena? Why would you even do that? You are so inconsiderate, I mean didn't you like look forward to last night but then you decided the best thing to do was to just fall asleep? How sweet!" Irene rasped, saying the last part of the statement, her voice dripped with sarcasm.
Lena's expression dulled as she peered at Irene.
"Stop saying it that way, you are making me feel bad like I just planned to fall asleep. I didn't plan it, it just happened."
Irene scoffed and folded her arms across her chest, "You need to feel worse, what you did wasn't cool. You better make it up to your husband." Irene mumbled perking at Lena.
"How are the kids?" Lena inquired changing the topic.
Irene rolled her eyes at Lena and huffed in annoyance.
"I see what you are trying to do, drift from the topic. To answer your questions Itzel and Trent are very well. I don't think yours and brother-in-law's absence matters to them at all." Irene shrugged.
"oh, since you and Cleo are here. Who are they with? You know what I think me and Henderson will have to go and see the kids. I'll tell him when he comes." Lena mumbled ignoring Irene's remarks.
"Really? Mom ruining your honeymoon wasn't enough for you, right? You want to ruin it yourself, don't you?" Irene scrunched up her face.
Lena said nothing, she just stared at Irene blankly.
"You better come up with a way to make it up to brother-in-law after the disappointment. You aren't just a mother to your children, you are a wife as well, don't forget that." Irene stated.
"I never said I forgot that." Lena sassed rolling her eyes at Irene who chuckled at the gesture.
"You better stop getting upset because your angry face will not stop me from talking. While packing your bags I put in all the lingerie we bought the other day we went shopping into your bag so put them to good use. And remember not to be boring, if you need tips just give me and Cleo a call." Irene winked a sinister smile tugging the side of her lips.
"I had no idea you two are now marriage counselors," Lena mumbled sarcastically.
"Even though we aren't, we are better than a sleeping bride." Irene taunted and earned a glare from Lena.
"I don't have time for your weird talks. You know what I'll send you money to sort out mom's hospital bills." Lena muttered.
"Babe, you don't have to do that I already did," Henderson told Lena when he reached where she was.
"Babe, you didn't have to do..."
"Thank you, brother-in-law, " Irene interjected glaring at Lena stopping her from completing her statement.
"You don't have to say thanks, we are family." Henderson smiled.
"Aww, you are so sweet. I'm blessed to have you as a brother-in-law." Irene grinned.
"And so am I, I'm happy we are family." A smile marred Henderson's face.
"We'll get going now take care of Mom, take her to the mansion. I already spoke to the doctor, and once she's is discharged. A nurse will come over to the mansion daily to make sure she's okay."
Irene hugged Lena before hugging Henderson.
"Bye, you two have lots of fun." Irene beamed as they got into the car.
Lena broke the ice first since none of them said anything to each other after Henderson asked if she was okay and ready to go.
"Honey, are you ok?" Lena inquired her voice filled with concern as she took in Henderson's visage, he looked upset.
"No, I'm not. How can I be okay when you keep doing the same thing over and over again?" Henderson murmured taking a quick glance at her before returning his gaze to the road.
