Chapter 34—Someone Special

"I'm sorry, " Lena apologised moving away from Henderson who was overwhelmed with worry. "What are you doing here?" Lena asked draping the duvet around her body as she glanced at Henderson who stared at her with an expression she could fathom. "I was unable to sleep, I came to check on you and you were having a nightmare. Are you ok?" Henderson finally spoke up. "It was nothing, I'm good now. Thank you, " Lena muttered trying to keep a smile on her face but from the look she saw on Henderson's face she knew he didn't believe her. It was quite easy for Henderson to know that Lena was lying because as she spoke, she lowered her head and kept her eyes from Henderson. "It's nothing, really? And you were crying, come on Lena tell me what was it?" "It was a nightmare but I've forgotten what it was, " Lena lied once again. She felt guilty lying to Henderson but she couldn't afford to tell him what the nightmare was about. "You are lying, again. Coming in here and seeing you like that scared me, it was as if you were in the midst of an attack. I'm not going to leave until you tell me what the dream was about." "It's really late, you should go get some sleep Henderson, " Lena mumbled after she glanced at the Clock which was on the wall. "And now you are deflecting, I already told you. I'm not going to leave until you tell me what the nightmare was about." Henderson stated firmly. A sigh flew out of Lena's lips and she clasped her palms together, "Fine, I'll tell you. If you promise to go to bed afterwards." "I promise, " Henderson mouthed, he sat up on the bed his eyes fixed on Lena keenly as he waited to hear what she was going to say. "You were chasing after me in a dream and I kept running, " she let out and burst out laughing when she saw the bewildered look on Henderson's face. Henderson's brows furrowed in a frown and he folded his arms across his chest. "It's not funny, Lena." Lena stopped laughing when she saw the serious expression on his face. "I told you, I can't remember the nightmare but you were insisting." She pouted. Henderson left after Lena insisted that she couldn't recall the nightmare and said that he had to go get some rest. But Henderson felt that Lena didn't just want to talk to him about the nightmare so she lied to him about it. Even though it hurt him that Lena didn't want to confide in him, he decided to respect her wish and not bug her to tell him about the nightmare if she didn't want to. Lena burst into tears the moment Henderson was gone, she was trying so hard not to cry in front of Henderson. She was devastated, her nightmares had resurfaced once again. 'For how long was she going to continue like this?' She thought. She didn't even bother trying to force herself to go back to sleep because she knew it wasn't going to yield any good results. Her sleep for the night was over, she couldn't risk having the nightmare again and since she was feeling better than she normally felt after such nightmares, she didn't take any of her meds. Later that morning...... Lena was at the dining having breakfast with the others when her phone rang, it was Matteo who was calling and it had been days since they last spoke. "Excuse me. I'll have to take this, " she mumbled taking up her phone. She picked up the call. Lena: ''Hello Matteo, " A wide grin spread across her face as she moved away from the dining area. Matteo: It didn't occur to me that you were going to be this excited to talk to me since it seems like you've forgotten about me. You were going to be my boss's plus one to the event and you never told me. I only found out when I saw you on Tv, seriously Lenny. A sigh left Lena's lips, she felt bad hearing Matteo talk like that but she was remorseful. She and Matteo never hid things from each other and that included even their biggest life secrets. Lena: I'm sorry Matteo, I was going to tell you about it but I can't tell how it managed to skip my mind. I hope you forgive me. Matteo: "For the fact that you are a star now, I have no choice but to forgive you, " he chuckled before he continued. Matteo: I was starting to think you had a twin whose name is also Lena when my boss dedicated the award to you and said you both were friends. I would have sworn with my life that it was a lie but remembering how you were saying so many good things about him the last time we met, I knew better than to swear. Or is there something you are not telling me, Lena? Lena: Can you stop pulling my legs? Aside from the fact that I didn't tell you that I was going to be Henderson's date to the ceremony, I'm not hiding anything else except that I bumped into Axel at the awards. A gasp left Matteo's lips. "Axel, what! What are you going to do now?" Lena: Nothing, he was talking about wanting to talk but I'm not interested. Matteo: Don't you think it's a huge problem that Axel has seen you after so many years? We need to do something. Lena: Don't worry Matteo, I'll be fine. When Lena saw that Matteo was silent for a while she assured him. Lena: I'll be ok. Matteo: You know my boss and Axel are the biggest rivals right? And from everything, I think my boss likes you. Lena burst out laughing hard. Matteo: It's not a joke. I'm a man and I know when a guy likes a lady. I might not have told you this but not a day passes with Henderson mentioning you at the office, one would think you work at the company. Seems to me that even though you hate CEOs fate always couples you with them. Lena: It's nothing like that Matteo. Your boss is just being nice to me that's all. Also, don't tell Irene about any of these speculations, she's going to be on my neck. Matteo: "Oops!" Lena: What is it? Matteo: Irene is calling, maybe she has seen you making headlines. Bye, I'll call you later. Lena: "Don't tell her anything, ok?" Lena warned but got no response. Matteo had already hung up. She sighed before returning to the dining. Seeing that the plate of the others was almost empty, she realised the call must have taken a long time. "Lena, that was a long call. Must be someone special, were you talking to your boyfriend?" Cleo smiled looking up at Lena who had just taken her seat. Lena's eyes darted around and she noticed Henderson's eyes were on her as well.
