Chapter 68—Who Are My To You?
"Are you going to let me in or not?" Brian stared at Henderson with raised brows.
Henderson took steps away from the front of the door to the side.
"Brian, " Lena beamed warmly hugging him when she came into the room.
"It's so good to see you, " Lena smiled.
Brian's lips curved happily, " Thank you, it doesn't seem like the same with someone I know."
Lena chuckled knowing Brian's statement was a direct jibe at Henderson.
She glanced at Henderson who was still holding the door, he had this unreadable expression on his face and he appeared to be lost in his thoughts. Lena ambled closer to him, she closed the door before turning to him.
"Brian is here." She smiled.
"I know but I'm just really surprised, do you think I'm safe?" Henderson said in a whisper.
Lena chortled, "Of course you are safe. You should go have a sit and talk to him."
Lena noticed Henderson was hesitant and he had this pinched expression on his face as he peered at Brian.
"Come on go talk to him, " Lena nudged smiling at him reassuringly.
Henderson nodded before ambling to one of the couches closer to Brian and plopped on it.
"Uncle B, " Itzel and Trent's raves filled the room as they emerged from the stairs.
Brian rose from the couch and crouched in front of Trent and Itzel who were now standing in front of him. He wrapped his arms around them hugging them before standing up.
"How are you guys doing?"
"We are fine, " Itzel and Trent smile simultaneously sitting beside him on the couch.
"I got you both something."
Brian took two gift bags he had walked in earlier with and handed one each to Itzel and Trent.
"Thank you, " they appreciated taking the presents from him.
"You got me a tiara, " Trent's nose crinkled as he gazed at the crown which he had just taken out of the package.
"And me a wristwatch? I hate wristwatches, " Itzel cooed peeking at Trent.
"I think it's a mixup, this should be yours," Trent muttered stretching the tiara to Itzel and then she gave him the wristwatch.
" It was a mix-up but the look on your faces though." Brian chuckled shaking his head.
"You are the best, " Itzel and Trent giggled hugging him before they started to try on their presents.
"No wonder you both love Uncle Brian so much, do you know what these kids said to me yesterday? Yesterday I asked them if they would love to go out with me but they both said no When they saw me dressed up and almost ready to leave they asked where I was going. I told them I was going over to your place and all of a sudden they wanted to go with me. When I asked them what made them change their minds, they said because it is you." Lena mumbled staring at Brian directly.
A happy smile danced on his lips as he turned his gaze to Itzel and Trent.
"Aww, that's so sweet of you guys."
Lena shook her finger chipping in," That's not all they said, I'll tell you the rest."
Trent and Itzel shook their heads gesturing Lena not to talk but she laughed and went on to speak.
"I'm going to tell him even if you guys don't want me to. They said they'd like to come because you'll give them gifts."
Trent and Itzel glanced at each other, "Well because you also tell us interesting stories."
"I'm pretty sure the gifts part was the most important one, " Henderson chuckled.
Lena nodded vigorously, her eyes widening slightly.
"Those were their words exactly."
"We love Uncle B, with or without the gifts, " Trent smiled.
"Yes, you are the best," Itzel added.
"Didn't you two just say that to me when we were upstairs?" Lena frowned playfully.
Henderson chortled, "Babe, I think you'll have to get used to that. I learnt the hard way."
"I think they are jealous, " Itzel whispered to Trent and Brian and the three of them burst out laughing.
"We love you both, " Trent and Itzel purred turning to Henderson and Lena who watched them laugh with amused brows.
"Is that a compensation?" Henderson arched a brow.
Lena chuckled nudging Henderson.
"We love you both very much." Henderson and Lena smiled.
"Itzel, Trent we should go upstairs and leave Henderson and Brian to talk, " Lena beckoned straightening herself from the couch. The kids did the same and together they sauntered upstairs.
Dead silence crept in when Lena left with the kids leaving only Henderson and Brian.
Henderson cleared his throat as he peered at Brian, he was thinking of the best way to apologise to Brian for his actions and show how sorry he was for what he had done.
"Brian, I'm very sorry for my actions and all the things I said to you that day. I have regretted it and I still regret it, I'm deeply sorry."
"Do you still have the basket of my favourite wine?" Brian asked with raised brows leaning back on the chair.
Henderson's face brightened, " Yes, I can get you more if you want. But does it mean that we are cool now and you've forgiven me?"
"Of course, Aunt Nana called, Matteo and Cleo came over to my house pleading on your behalf, and Lena came with Itzel and Trent how can I not listen? If I hadn't forgiven you, I wouldn't be here." Brian shrugged.
"Thank you, dude, " Henderson smiled gently rising to his feet, he scooted to stand in front of Brian and spread his arms wide for a hug.
Brian stood up and hugged him, "So when is the wedding going to be?" He said in a whisper as he pulled away.
"Brian, " Madam Carmen smiled as she walked into the living room.
"Hello Aunt Nana, " Brian greeted hugging her.
"Your face, " Madam Carmen gasped when her eyes scrutinised his face.
"Well, It's nothing serious, " Brian assured.
Madam Carmen lifted her hands in the air, "No it's not." She sighed shifting her gaze to Henderson.
"I was waiting for the reconciliation to happen before speaking to you. I don't know you to be violent, and what you did wasn't cool." She scolded.
Henderson gave a tight nod, " Yeah, I'm really sorry."
Madam Carmen smiled patting him on the back.
"I hope now you will not worry so Lena won't have to worry about you."
Later that evening.....
Lena and Henderson insisted that Brian had dinner with them. Cleo invited Matteo over for dinner, they were all seated together around the dining table.
"Cleo, Matteo thank you for helping out. For going to Brian's and speaking on my behalf. I really appreciate it, " Henderson expressed gratitude with a smile on his face.
"Don't mention it, " Matteo mumbled returning the smile.
Cleo shook her head, a simper grew across her face.
"He has to be thankful to us. You are welcome, We just hope you don't believe whatever lie you are told next time, " Cleo uttered throwing a subtle jibe at Henderson making everyone laugh except Henderson who understood, he just rolled his eyes at her.
"Baby, thank you for everything." Henderson purred turning to Lena.
"Thank you, Trent and Itzel as well."
"Enough of the apologies, Henderson. I'm really famished, and I'm sure everyone else is but before then we should make a toast, " Cleo beamed raising her glass.
"Cheers to a life filled with joy, happiness friendship and above unwavering love and to our dearest couple Derlena, " she cheered.
A round of applause erupted from Matteo, Brian, Itzel and Trent before they took their glasses and began to make clicking cheers sounds.
"Henderson, Greg said to greet you," Lena informed me after she put her phone away after hanging up.
Greg had just called her, he thanked her once again for letting him stay in her house. He also told her that her co-workers at the restaurant missed her including Mrs Clinton and they sent their regards. He told her that Ria resigned from the job for reasons he didn't know though.
"Greg? Who is that?" Henderson's brows crinkled, and he feigned struggling to recall who that was but the truth was, he didn't just want to hear or even hear that name around him. Right from the second he set his eyes on Greg that day he had ill feelings in regards to him, he didn't know what it was that made him feel that way but he felt Greg was not to be trusted, it partly had to do with the fact that Kyra who almost ruined his relationship with Lena was a close relative of the Greg. That was enough to get him in Henderson's bad book.
"The guy you met in Oxwey, My Friend," Lena muttered sitting beside Henderson.
"Oh, that guy. He didn't seem like he would ever consider sending greetings to me the first time we met. I don't know why but I feel that guy is not to be trusted, " Henderson started honestly.
"Why? Did he something to you?" Lena's voice held concern, The day she left Oxwey she felt something was off between Henderson and Greg but she was so excited about having Henderson around that she forgot about it quickly. She wondered if it had something to do with the fact that Greg confessed to having feelings for her.
Henderson shook his head, " he didn't say anything or do anything but I feel that way. How did you two even become friends?"
Lena was relieved, there was no way she was ever going to tell Henderson about it, even though he was yet to know that Greg confessed to having feelings for her he didn't like him, What if he was to find out? They were probably going to turn into enemies and that was the last thing she wanted happening.
"Well, he helped me get in contact with the estate agent I bought the house from, he also helped me get a job at the restaurant I worked in while I was in Oxwey. I'm really grateful for Greg one time he saved Trent from an accident, Trent saw a car and ran into the road thinking it was your car but Greg intervened, saving him."
"I had no idea, I would have thanked him for that." Henderson sighed.
If Greg was that helpful to Lena, his suspicions about him were less important at the moment. "If you don't mind, I'd like to speak to him and thank him for everything, " Henderson muttered.
"Of course, I'll call him right away."
Next Day...
It was a Saturday, Lena had just gotten out of bed, and she went into the bathroom to get done with her morning business.
She just stepped into the room from the bathroom when her phone buzzed. She sauntered to the bedside table and picked up the phone from it. She had received a credit alert from Henderson.
She got dressed in black sweatpants and a black t-shirt, After packing her hair into a bun she headed to Henderson's room.
Her knuckles tapped softly against the door as she stood in front of it.
"Come in, " Henderson answered from inside.
She pushed the door open and stepped in.
"Good morning babe, Hope you had a nice night?" Henderson smiled as he took in the sight of Lena.
"You look very beautiful in black this morning, " he complimented taking steps to her.
When he reached her, he wrapped his hands around her spinning her around before he kissed her.
"Good morning Henderson, " Lena smiled as he put her to the ground.
"You look amazing."
Henderson was clad in a tight-fitting white shirt that did a great job highlighting his muscular arms and hard chest that made her lose her breath and got her drooling every damn time.
"Thank you, I'm glad you think so." Henderson blushed, his hand slung around Lena's waist and he pulled her in.
"You sent me money. What is it for?"
"Well, I figured I haven't paid you for four months. So..."
Lena's nostrils flared, she nibbled on her lower lips and stepped back, her perking gaze not leaving Henderson even for a minute.
"Who are my to you, Henderson?"
