Chapter 64 Oxwey To Hayglow
Kyra repeated the same words to the hearing of everyone in the room. Lena took in everyone's expression; Henderson was upset and angry, Matteo was put out of countenance and Matteo was livid.
She on the other hand was filled with boiling anger as she took steps to Kyra.
"How dare you!" Lena yelled and boom! Her palm collided with Kyra's cheek.
"Initially when you told me everything, I was willing to let it go but it seems like you prefer to play games with us." Lena's lips drew back in a snarl.
"I'm sorry, I truly am. Alia threatened to kill me if I was to let anyone know that she sent me but I couldn't deal with so much guilt in my heart, my conscience kept pricking me."
Lena scoffed shaking her head, her lips pressed together as she stared directly at Kyra.
"Would you have told us the truth if you didn't come here today?"
Kyra was silent, her face was red with embarrassment also as a result of the slap she had received from Lena.
"Kyra I'm so disappointed in you. I never thought you would do such a thing for money, if you wanted money why didn't you ask me? I would have tried my best to help you!" Greg spoke for the first time since things started to unfold. His face was etched with disappointment directed at Kyra. Because of her, he was utterly embarrassed in front of Lena.
"I'm sorry, " Kyra mumbled apologetically raising her head her gaze darted around the room and she clasped her hands together.
"You better leave, your apology is not needed." Henderson's jaw clenched.
"I'm....sorry..."
Lena's face twisted in a frown and she put her hands in the air, "I'm pretty sure you heard him or would you rather have us throw you out or you leave by yourself? The choice is yours to make."
"You heard them let's leave, " Greg interjected when Kyra was about to say something.
"Greg you don't have to go because of Kyra, this has nothing to do with you," Lena muttered holding Greg's gaze. She didn't want him to feel bad for something someone else had done, it was Kyra's fault, not his.
He smiled sadly, "I better go. I don't think it's the right time for me to be here. Bye."
Greg's smile faded into a scowl when he shifted his eyes to Kyra.
"Let's go."
Kyra nodded and ambled to the door.
Drawing in a breath, Greg turned to Lena.
"I'm sorry for the pain my cousin has caused. I'll call you later." Greg said.
Lena nodded and mustered a small smile. Greg strode out of the living room with Kyra afterwards.
"Matteo, " Lena called hugging him.
"Finally, I lost my superpower of invisibility."
Lena chuckled, she knew Matteo was being sarcastic she couldn't blame him she hadn't even noticed that he was in the room.
"I'm sorry. All of this just..." Lena sighed in frustration.
"I can only imagine how hard all of this had been for you two but I'm glad everything is sorted out now." Matteo's lips curved happily.
Henderson stroked Lena's back comfortingly when he reached where she was, "Everything will be alright."
She nodded with a smile.
"I haven't seen Trent anywhere, where is he?" Henderson inquired his voice holding concern.
"He's upstairs. He is having a nap, I'm surprised he slept for this long. This is the longest nap he has had in weeks since we moved here. And I'm pretty sure he is going to jump out of that bed once he knows you are here. He has missed you and Itzel a lot." Lena chortled.
Suddenly her expression dulled up and she face palmed.
"Baby, what is it?" Henderson murmured cupping her cheeks.
Sadness clouded Lena's features, " Will Itzel forgive me?"
"Itzel misses you, and as far as she's concerned. You can do no wrong in her sight, she would be delighted to see you. I'm sure once that happens I've earned my ticket back into her good books."
"She is mad at you? But you are her favourite person."
Henderson shook his head, "I used to be, I lost that position a long time ago. I'm sure she won't mind trading me for you." Henderson joked.
Lena wriggled her head laughing, "That's the case with Trent too. We are even I guess."
"I can't wait to see Itzel, I've missed her a lot." Lena smiled.
"Will you come back to the mansion with me?" Henderson questioned gazing into Lena's eyes.
Lena pursed her lips and then she shook her head.
"Well, I think we'll have to move here then." Henderson shrugged a smile playing on his lips.
Lena laughed, "Of course, I will go back with you. I was only joking not that I won't love you to come here but Hayglow is home, home is where my loved ones are."
"I love you, Lee." Henderson purred planting a kiss on Lena's forehead.
"I love you, " she giggled kissing his lips.
"You both know you can do all of that later right, now you have to find a way to fix things with Brian." Matteo's voice made them break the kiss and glance at each other.
Lena's brows knitted together, "You had a fight with Brian.
Matteo shook his head, "It was more of an assault. He beat up Brian badly."
Henderson shot Matteo a glare, he didn't want Matteo telling Lena all of that. She wasn't going to be happy about it.
"What? How could you do something like that? Believe Kyra's words over that of your best friend."
A sigh escaped Lena's lips and she facepalmed.
"I have no right to judge you, it was the same thing I did."
"Lena you don't have to keep saying that. It's not your fault. Your situation was different, my reaction was pure foolishness. I didn't think twice I just stormed Brian's house and beat him to a pulp." Henderson shook his head in dissuasion smoothing Lena's hair.
She tilted her head to peer at him, "We have to fix this."
"Uncle Henderson!"
They turned in the direction of the voice and looked straight at Trent who had a gigantic grin plastered on his face.
Henderson rose from the couch as Trent ran to him.
Crouching in front of Trent who was now in front of him, he hugged him.
"How have you been Buddy? I've missed you so much." Henderson smiled spreading his arms wide apart in demonstration after disengaging the hug.
"I've missed you too. Where is Itzel?" Trent inquired looking around for any sign of her.
"She didn't come with us, but you'll see her once we get back to the mansion. She will be elated to see you, she has missed you so much."
"Mommy, we are going back?" Trent's mouth curved in a smile, he looked over at Lena who nodded in response.
Trent giggled, he scooted to Lena embracing her.
"Thank you, Mommy." He smiled.
"Uncle Matteo, " Trent ambled to Matteo and hugged him.
"You told Uncle Henderson where we were even though Mom told you not to, thank you."
Matteo, Lena and Henderson traded glances. Lena thought Trent was asleep while she discussed with Matteo the other day not knowing that his ears were wide open.
"Trent you were eavesdropping, that's wrong." Lena nodded.
"Sorry, Mommy," Trent said remorsefully.
"You know I've always told you that...."
"Babe, he already said sorry let it be." Henderson chipped in calmly kissing her cheeks.
"And why didn't you want me to know? I'm thankful to Matteo for telling me. Thank you, Matteo." Henderson appreciated turning to him.
Matteo smiled in response, "I'm glad I could be of help."
"Yeah thank you for breaking the promise, " Lena chuckled before she continued.
"You did me a huge favour, you stopped me from making the biggest mistake of life which would be losing my love."
Lena, Trent, Henderson and Matteo were all set to leave the house for the airport when she received a call from Greg. He apologised once again and she noticed his voice was down, he told her he was having accommodations problems he had just been evicted from the apartment he lived in because he failed to pay rent.
Lena felt sorry for him, she told him she was going to drop the keys to her house for him and he could stay there until he found a way out since she was moving back to Hayglow.
Right after they had locked the house, Greg arrived, She gave him the keys and he thanked her for her kindness towards him. Lena appreciated him for all he had done for her and Trent all the while they'd been in Oxwey.
Lena, Trent, Henderson and Matteo arrived at Hayglow in less than an hour They flew in his private jet, in the whole of the city no one aside owned a jet of that kind due to the fortune it cost to purchase considering how exquisite it was.
Matteo and Trent headed to the mansion with Trent and Lena's stuff because Lena had insisted that she and Henderson pay Brian a visit.
Henderson was nervous about the visit taking into account what he had done to Brian the last time he had visited his house. He wondered if Brian was ever going to forgive him or if that was going to be the end of their friendship.
"Thinking about Brian?" Lena inquired stroking Henderson's shoulder when she noticed that he was lost in thoughts and had this gloomy expression on his face.
Henderson nodded, "Yes, I don't know what I'm going to say to him."
"A truthful apology, he deserved that. As much as I am concerned about how you feel, I can't help but think about how Brian must have felt or is still feeling. You shouldn't have resulted to violence." Lena sighed.
"You are right, Honestly I feel ashamed of my approach and actions. I just hope he forgives me."
Lena could see the hurt in his voice and the pain he tried to hide in his eyes, she couldn't think about having to lose Matteo who was her best friend. It was going to be hell for her so she could understand what Henderson was going through.
Lena smiled warmly, she draped her arms around Henderson patting his back soothingly.
"We'll go over there and do what's right if he doesn't listen. We will try again, we won't stop trying to fix things until things are back to normal between you two."
"Lena, you are here?" Surprise crossed Brian's face and saw Lena standing there. Henderson had gone back to the car to get the basket of Brian's favourite wine he had forgotten to take with him earlier when they alighted the car. Lena suggested they get Brian something he likes and Henderson hearkened.
Lena was rendered speechless when she beheld the bruises on Brian's face. She took in a deep breath, from the look of things this was serious! Henderson went overboard, she was definitely going to give him an earful for this afterwards.
"It's a delight to see you, " Brian muttered hugging her when he saw how silent she fell.
Lena wore a polite smile, "Thank you, Brian."
"What are you doing here Henderson?" Brian's face contorted in anger when he saw Henderson walking towards the door.
Henderson's lips pressed together when he stood beside Lena in front of the door.
Guilt filled his eyes seeing the condition of his friend's face knowing he was responsible for it.
"We brought you this." Henderson exhaled slowly stretching the basket to Brian.
Brian scoffed and gave Henderson a dirty look.
"I don't need any gifts from you. I'm happy you and your love have reconciled but get the fuck out of my house before I forget that we used to be friends in the past." Brian seethed with anger and closed the door with a thud in their faces.
Henderson's shoulder drooped and he gazed downwards, he couldn't blame Brian for his reaction he deserved even more for what he did to him.
