Chapter 111— An Ex?
Lena noticed Henderson was silent throughout the drive back to the mansion, she didn't know if It was just her but she felt like Henderson didn't like Venita. She knew Henderson was a snub to whoever he didn't like and he didn't care to hide it.
When Venita extended her hand to him for a handshake he didn't take it, rather he just turned to Lena and told her that he wanted to introduce her to some people. Lena offered Venita an apology but she seemed unbothered by Henderson's action, she just smiled it off.
"Guys, what was that speech about?" Brighton snorted. His face morphed in anger as his gaze darted from Henderson to Brian.
"Is that the thank you we get?" Brian's face twisted in a frown.
"I expected a vote of thanks from you, not some whining," Henderson stated, his voice laced with disappointment. He put his hands on his chest feigning to be hurt.
Lena, Henderson, Brian and Irene were back at the mansion. Cleo and Matteo visited shortly after Henderson, Lena, Brian and Irene left for the event.
Trent and Itzel fell asleep shortly afterwards so Brighton took them to their rooms.
"My goodness, can you believe the nonsense, some websites are saying?" Cleo sighed in annoyance not taking her gaze off her phone.
"Babe don't read...." Matteo who was beside her whispered but before he could even finish talking she blurted it out.
"Turns out Lena and Irene are sisters dating best friends. Seems to me like some gold-digging plan, first Lena and now Irene. Since Brighton Alvarez is single I'm guessing their third sister is going to show up soon Can't wait for next year's award so we get to see the third gold digger."
Cleo regretted reading the comment the moment she was done when she saw the look on Matteo's face.
"I shouldn't have," her lips pressed together and she puffed a breath.
"Well, you wouldn't have if you listened to me," Matteo mumbled lowly.
Cleo gave him an apologetic look, "I'm sorry."
" What the fuck! What website is that?" Henderson's face darkened.
"Do not tell him," Lena said shaking her head and Cleo nodded in response. She knew what Henderson was capable of. It happened before, she expected something like this not exactly being called a gold digger along with her sister but she knew there was going to be some kind of gossip, after all, there was a lot of gossip the previous year when she attended the event with Henderson.
"I'll just check it myself..." Henderson seethed taking out his phone. His eyes were blazing wider with anger. That was one thing he hated about attending such events, stupid rumours and gossips ended up flying around.
"These websites are really nuts!" Brian jaw clenched as he read comments silently. Soon everyone in the living room were on their phones reading comment and headlines from different websites with the exception of Lena and Brighton.
"I thought Mark said everything was sorted. I told him to take care of all this foul rumours and gossips." Brighton sighed.
"You did something about it?" Lena asked finding a place to sit.
"Yeah. They were saying nasty things right from the moment you guys arrived. Just a few minutes all the headlines and comments were cleared Mark told me and I saw it for myself. I don't know what happened again."
Brighton was watching the event from home, he was well accustomed to how things went during such events. All manner of rumours and gossip would fill websites coupled with annoying comments from people who knew absolutely nothing about the people they were saying ill things about.
"Thank you, Brighton. You shouldn't worry about it, I mean people would always matter they always talk." Lena shrugged.
"Still we'll have to do something about that. That aside though, do you and Irene have a sister? I don't mind..." Brighton asked jokingly and Lena burst out laughing.
"Brighton, you can't be serious. Don't worry you'll find your miss right soon, an amazing lady. You deserve the best." Lena smiled.
"Thanks, Lena."
" Venita attended the event?" Brian made a scrunched-up face like he just inhaled a foul odour as he peered into his phone.
"Wait which Venita? Venita the supermodel, Venita Rodriguez? Henderson's ex?" Brighton gasped striding to sit beside Brian and looking into his phone.
"Brother-in-law, Venita Rodriguez used to be your girlfriend?" Irene asked averting her gaze from her phone to Henderson.
Now all eyes in the room were on Henderson.
"Yes, some years ago," Henderson answered shortly, his brows puckered as he spoke. His tone made it evident that he was uninterested in talking about Venita.
"Three years ago." Brighton's voice came.
"Do you have to be more specific?" Brian smacked him on the shoulder and rolled his eyes at him.
Brighton had a confused grimace on his visage as he peered at Brian.
"Care to tell me what I said wrong?" He huffed in irritation.
"I made a new friend at the event, her name is Venita too. But who is Venita Rodriguez?" Lena chipped in looking clueless, she had a wan expression on her face.
Cleo's eyes widened in disbelief as she perked at Lena.
"You really don't know her. Venita Rodriguez the supermodel?"
"You're surprised? Don't be Cleo, Lena doesn't know her. She used to hate famous people." Irene shrugged off her shoulders nonchalantly and Lena threw a pillow at her when she noticed how Brian, Brighton and Henderson looked at her.
"Sorry, that wasn't how I meant to say it. She didn't hate famous people she just disliked their attitude. But it is different now, I mean she's married to a very famous CEO so.." Irene clarified.
"I said sorry, I'm sorry." Irene sighed when she saw Lena's intense fevered scowl fixed on her.
"Wait you said you made a friend and her name is Venita? I'll show you a picture of Venita Rodriguez." Cleo sauntered to Lena and showed her a picture of the supermodel.
Lena nodded, "That's the lady. I had no idea she was a supermodel."
"Hold on sis. You mean to say you became friends with a supermodel who happens to be your husband's super hot ex-girlfriend?" Irene lifted a brow at Lena and burst out laughing.
Irene clapped her hands as she tried to control her laughter but she couldn't.
"Babe," Brian cautioned ambling to her, he gestured her to stop.
"Well my wife is the hottest," Henderson complimented taking steps to Lena.
"Aww," Irene cooed placing her hands on her chest dramatically.
"Baby, was that the reason you refused to shake Venita's hand?" Lena questioned gazing at Henderson who was now seated beside her.
"You deserve an accolade for not shaking her hand, Brother-in-law." Irene cheered clapping her hands. The smile on her face was replaced with a frown as she shifted her gaze to Lena.
"Sis, is that even a question?"
"You know what I think? You should just break up that friendship, it's fishy." Cleo mumbled.
Irene nodded in support, "You are very correct Cleo. You took the words right out of my mouth, I don't trust that girl. I've really liked Venita Rodriguez, I'm a huge fan but now not so much."
"Why? What did she do wrong? Becoming friends with me is wrong?" Lena arched a brow at Irene.
"Yes, because she has an ulterior motive," Irene stated confidently.
Lena shook her head, "You don't know that."
"Of course I do." Irene maintained her stance. She was confident that her thoughts about Venita were the truth and nothing was going to change that.
