Chapter 54 A Week Without Them!
"I'm sorry if my questions offended you. I'm just curious, " Greg apologized when he saw the scowl that had taken over Lena's face, which was a direct response to his question telling him to mind his business and not chip in her personal affairs. After all, he was here for a reason, not ask her questions that had nothing to do with him.
Lena was perturbed, She wondered if this meant that Henderson was going to find out her whereabouts easily when people like Greg could be all around but she shoved the thought away. This was a new start for her, thinking about Henderson was only going to worsen the stab of pain that she still felt in her heart. Reminding herself of the reason why she moved to Oxwey which was to start over she took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
"It's fine, Greg," Lena muttered.
They went into the house and met with the estate agent after settling on a price and filling in some documents payments were made since Lena wanted everything to be done promptly, she didn't want to waste time since she wanted to move into the house as soon as possible.
A week later...
"Sunshine, open the door," Henderson persuaded as his hands tapped softly on the door to Itzel's room. He had been knocking on Itzel's door for over five minutes but was yet to get any response from her.
When he and Cleo got back from the office Madam Carmen told him that Itzel was not in a good mood. She just went straight to her room after breakfast, she wasn't willing to talk to anyone and she didn't even want to eat lunch until Madam Carmen took her lunch into her and insisted she had something to eat. Ever since Lena and Trent left that has been her mood, Henderson was doing everything he could to find Lena but all his efforts were futile.
"Go away Daddy, I want Lena," Itzel yelled from inside.
"Zel, please open the door. I have some good news."
Henderson had barely finished his statement when the door creaked open revealing Itzel. Despite the tears that were on her face, her lips curved into a smile.
"Have you found Aunt Lena?"
A sigh escaped Henderson's lips and he shook his head.
Itzel's excitement died down, her smile had faded into a scowl. She left the door and ambled to her bed sitting on it.
"Then why did you say you have good news, Daddy?" Itzel frowned looking up at Henderson who had now entered the room and was standing in front of her.
"I'm sorry but I had to say that to make you open the door," Henderson uttered taking Itzel's hand in his.
Itzel's face turned sour and she let go of his hand.
"Sunshine, I made you a promise. I'll find Lena and Trent." He assured but Itzel gazed downwards not even sparing him a glance.
"You've been saying that Daddy, but you don't even know where they are, how are you going to bring them back?" Itzel asked as she hoisted her head to peer at Henderson.
Later that day...
Matteo and Brian came over to Henderson's mansion. They were trying to come up with ideas on how to find Lena since they couldn't go to the police because Lena went away on her own.
Matteo had gone over to Lena's mom's house to see if Lena was there after he left Henderson's house the other day, even though he knew that was going to be the last place Lena would go to but he had to be sure. When he went there, Lena's mom told him the last time she set her eyes on Lena was the day she kicked Lena and Trent out of her house. When Matteo was about to leave she called him back and told him that when he finds Lena he should let her know that she shouldn't come anywhere near her house. Matteo was pissed he was going to talk to Lena's mom about the way she had always treated Lena but he kicked against it, finding Lena and Trent were much more important to him.
"Henderson, I have to ask you this. Are you sure you don't know that Kyra of a lady? Maybe from the past or something? Because I can remember how much of a Casanova you turned into after Vivian left you, maybe she was one of the flings you had, " Cleo stated peering at Henderson who tilted his head in her direction immediately.
Henderson exhaled when he saw the intense stares from Cleo, Matteo and Brian that were set on him.
"You all have asked me that question a lot of times and I've told you that I don't that lady. I've never seen her, I promise. I know I might have been a playboy in the past but I stopped when I fell in love with Lena. I love Lena so much with the whole of my heart and I can't do anything of that kind to hurt her."
"I just wish Lena didn't leave. It would have been easier to convince her that you didn't do any of those things but how will do that now when you don't even know where she is?" Cleo sighed leaning back on the couch.
"I'm pretty sure all of these must have been too hard on her considering her past with Axel she must have been so heartbroken so she didn't want to face you so she decided to leave," Cleo added puffing a breath.
"Yeah, I wonder how she is right now. The last time she was heartbroken, she became a shadow of herself. I hope we can find them before that happens, " Matteo muttered.
Brian nodded in concord, "We have to find them. I think we should hire a private investigator to find the Kyra lady so that once we find Lena everything else will be easily ironed out."
"I've been thinking about that as well Brian. We need to find that lady, she has to pay for what she did." Henderson's eyes flared with anger as he spoke. He didn't know what scores the lady in question had with him that made her target his relationship to the extent of cooking up the lie that made Lena leave.
"Definitely, she has to pay for that but before then, what about Itzel? I've been bothered by her state these past few days. She hasn't been herself since Lena and Trent left. If you agree I would take a break from the office to take care of her." Cleo said turning to Henderson.
"Of course, I don't mind. I would be grateful if you do that. Thank you, Cleo." Henderson smiled.
"You don't have to thank me, we are family, remember." Cleo returned the smile.
Matteo left after the discussion but Brian stayed back. He wanted to keep Henderson company, even though Henderson was doing his best to appear strong before them Brian knew he was in pain, Lena's and Trent's absence was affecting him.
"Henderson, Henderson," Brian called but got no response from Henderson who was lost in his thoughts until Brian snapped his fingers in front of his face.
"Did you say something?" Henderson sighed wiping his face as he sat up.
"You have to take things easy. We are going to find them Henderson, we will." Brian affirmed giving Henderson a light squeeze on the shoulder.
"It's been a week without her and Trent and it feels like ages. I don't even know the condition they are in." Henderson exhaled and then he face palmed. His heart felt void, it was as though a part of him had been taken away.
"We will find them. I'll do my best to help."
"Thank you, Brian," Henderson said with a small smile looking up at him.
"What can I say? You are lucky to have a friend like me, " Brian boasted earning himself a glare from Henderson.
"Now you are getting too proud, " Henderson scoffed. Brian chuckled as he peered at Henderson suddenly Brian's face became void of any expression but his lips were pressed together.
"What's with the face?" Henderson stared at him with raised brows.
"I think I should let you know something, the night you came to my party at the hotel." Brian paused looking at Henderson.
"Go on, " Henderson mumbled.
Brian sighed before he continued.
"Well, I was told by Chelsey that she saw a lady leave the hotel room I found you in." Brian let out.
