Chapter 56— New Job
Lena was in search of a new job at Oxwey City, she wanted something to keep herself busy with. She told Trent that they were going to go back to Hayglow City when the time was right but she wasn't even sure if she was going to be able to fulfil that promise to him.
Somehow Lena and Greg became friends since he was the only person she knew in Oxwey and he lived just a few houses away from hers. He told her that the restaurant he worked for was in search of new workers and if she was interested she could apply. So she agreed to apply, and her interview was scheduled for today.
Living in Oxwey was a bit more complicated than Lena expected it to be because some people knew her as Henderson Bain's girlfriend, and it was tiring since her sole purpose of moving from Hayglow was to be away from Henderson but now she had to listen to his name almost every day but she just did her best to ignore all of that.
Lena paid the cabman and alighted afterwards, holding Trent's hand she walked to the restaurant. She stood in front of the bold inscription Savouryum Restaurant, she took a deep breath and turned to Trent with a smile on her face.
Lena had to come with Trent since she couldn't leave him off at home by himself and she knew no one she could drop him with. She hoped it wasn't going to be a problem with her employer.
"Don't worry Mommy, I'm sure you'll get the job," Trent affirmed with a smile.
Lena leaned over and kissed his cheeks.
"Thank you, honey."
"Lena."
Lena gazed in the direction of the voice, Greg waved at her his face holding a smile as he sauntered towards her and Trent.
"Hello, Greg."
"Hi, " Greg muttered before turning his attention to Trent.
"Hi Trent, " Greg smiled stretching his hand to Trent for a fist bump which he accepted.
"Good morning, " Trent greeted.
"Good morning to you, how are you?" Greg asked.
"I'm fine, thank you," Trent answered with a smile.
"Can we go now?" Lena mumbled.
"Sure, I'll take you to my boss right away," Greg responded taking the lead while Lena and Trent trailed behind him.
Lena exhaled as she took off her shoes and plopped on the couch, she had a really long day at work. It felt good, it had been a long time since she stepped outside to work. All the time she worked as Itzel's nanny all she did was stay in the house.
The woman Mrs. Clinton who was Greg's boss and now her boss as well was really welcoming, she gave Lena the job. She also didn't have a problem with Lena bringing Trent Falong to work, Mrs Clinton loved kids and she was happy to see Trent.
When Lena saw Mrs. Clinton she was reminded of Madam Carmen, Mrs. Clinton was so kind to Lena as if she had known her for a long time. Lena got along with her coworkers except for one lady Ria who was a close friend of Greg, When Greg introduced Lena to Ria, Ria didn't even say hello she just nodded and walked away. Greg told Lena not to worry about Ria's behaviour and that she was just in a bad mood.
"Trent, where are you going?" Lena called after Trent as he ran off from the living room.
"Mommy, here have some, " Trent mumbled stretching a cup to Lena when he came back to the living room.
"Thank you, son. You got me water, that's so thoughtful of you." Lena purred taking the cup from him.
"You are welcome, Mommy."
"Do you want more?" Trent inquired as he took the cup from Lena after she was done drinking the water.
"No, I'm ok. Thank you."
Trent returned the cup to the kitchen and then came back into the living room to meet Lena.
Lena lay on the couch but her legs dangled on the floor.
"Mommy, you must be very tired." Trent sighed holding Lena's legs one at a time he placed them on the couch.
"You are so sweet, " Lena gleamed sitting up, She turned to Trent was now settled beside her on the couch.
"You must be tired too, we should go freshen up so I can fix dinner."
Lena smoothened Trent's hair and planted a kiss on his cheeks.
"I love you, Mommy." Trent smiled kissing Lena's forehead.
Henderson's Mansion...
"I thought you were mad at me?" Henderson arched his brows when he veered around and saw Brian standing in front of the door.
"Even though I was upset with you, I still have to find a way to save you from sulking in heartbreak to death." Brian shrugged walking into the room. He sat on the couch before gazing at Henderson with puckered lips.
"Don't even think that I'm doing this because of you. I don't care, I'm doing this because of Lena, Itzel, Cleo Aunt Nana and everyone else who cares about you." Brian started.
A smirk tugged the side of Henderson's lips and nodded, "Including yourself?"
Brian huffed, "you wish. I contacted the private investigator he will be coming over today. You'll have to show him the footage when he comes and he can take things up from there." Brian paused and peered at Henderson before he continued.
"But there is something we aren't cleared on yet. Did you do you do it?"
Henderson exhaled, "I wish I knew but I can't remember anything. I've tried to recall the events of that night but I've been unable to."
Brian nibbled on his lower lips.
"Well, I guess we'll find out once we are able to find the Kyra girl. Until then, you better start to come up with a way to explain things to Lena once we find her."
Henderson bobbed his head.
"Can you do me a favour? Don't let anyone else know about this. Especially Matteo, he is going to be so furious and I don't know how I'll be able to deal with that if it happens. Keep this away from Matteo and Cleo."
"What are you keeping away from me and Matteo?"
This statement made Brian and Henderson turn their heads immediately in the direction of the voice. Cleo had entered the room, she was standing right behind them, her perking eyes scrutinising their faces as she awaited their response.
