Chapter 82—Not Your Daddy!
Lena beheld the sight in front of her teary-eyed. It felt as though an arrow had hit her heart, it hurt so much that she suddenly had nothing to say, she was rendered speechless with no words forming in her mouth.
"Baby, do you want anything?" Kyra asked wrapping her arms around Henderson whose lips were curved into a smile as he peered at her.
"Daddy, " Itzel and Trent called taking steps to him. There was no tinge of recognition on Henderson's face, he started at the kids like they were total strangers. Kyra's eyes crinkled with disgust after she pulled away from Henderson and turned to Trent and Itzel who were now standing in front of her.
"You two are so cute. Do I know you?" Henderson smiled.
Trent and Itzel glanced at each other and burst into tears.
"Daddy, you don't know us?" Trent sobbed.
Itzel's brows furrowed and she pursed her lips.
"Daddy, are you joking?" She asked sniffing in tears.
Concern etched Henderson's countenance seeing the kids cry.
"Babe, do you know these kids?" Henderson asked Kyra shifting his gaze to her.
"Yes, their mom is our maid and they are her kids. You've been so nice and helpful to them that they suddenly think you are their Daddy." Kyra scowled gaping at Lena who exhaled in disbelief.
"Henderson, all this lady has told you are lies. I'm your best friend and I cannot lie to you." Brian chipped in ambling closer to Henderson.
"That's a lie, I'm your best friend." Greg countered making his way to stand beside Henderson.
Excruciating pain pang surged through Lena's heart akin to the sting of a needle. Unable to bear the sight anymore, she broke into tears and ran out of the room. Cleo, Matteo, Brian, Irene, Itzel and Trent came after her.
Lena was in tears as she leaned against the wall just outside the room Henderson was in. It was just a few weeks to their wedding and now he couldn't even recognise her or anyone else.
"Mommy, what's wrong with Daddy? Why did he say all of that to us?" Itzel cried holding Lena's hand.
"Yes Mommy, why did Daddy say he doesn't know us?" Trent asked looking up at Lena.
Lena squatted in front of them, pulled them closer to her and embraced them in a hug.
"We need to go see the doctor, we need an explanation for this!" Cleo rasped letting out an exasperated sigh afterwards.
They got to know from the doctor that Henderson had amnesia as a result of the accident. The doctor said it was best not to force him to remember his past because that wasn't going to help rather it was going to worsen his condition.
Cleo explained all that happened in Lena's absence to her. She said that one of the nurses had asked that they leave Henderson's room for a while because he needed to be attended to.
A while later, they were called in by the nurse when Henderson opened his eyes but when they walked into the room Kyra and Greg were there and that was when the whole thing started. Somehow Greg and Kyra managed to convince Henderson that Kyra was his girlfriend and Greg his best friend.
A WEEK LATER....
Nothing had changed since the past few days rather it was a dismay to Lena and everyone else. Henderson was discharged from the hospital two days ago, Kyra and Greg moved into the mansion and even more spiteful, Kyra was sharing Henderson's room with him. Even when Lena and the others tried to tell Henderson the truth about all that was happening, he didn't he wasn't ready to listen to them also because Kyra barely left any chance she was always around Henderson. Lena felt betrayed by Greg, she never expected that he would turn out to be such a person and it hurt her so much that she was warned but never gave a listening ear to the warning rather she kept giving Kyra and Greg her so-called friends the benefit of the doubt.
"Kyra, what are you up to?" Lena seethed with anger pulling Kyra back just as she walked past her.
Kyra exhaled shoving Lena's hand from her, she folded her arms across her chest gazing at Lena.
"What are you talking about?" she feigned ignorance raising a brow at Lena.
"Don't play dumb with me. First, you and Greg happened to be at the scene the day Henderson got into an accident and even when Cleo had her suspicions about it I thought it was just a coincidence. And as if that wasn't enough you and Greg told Henderson lies taking advantage of the fact that he lost his memory. You are cruel!" Lena's jaw clenched her eyes flared with anger as they roamed Kyra who had a mocking smile on her face.
"Are you done? I have to go now, my baby needs me. I have to go give Henderson a message and then a bath, " a wide grin crept on Kyra's face and she licked her lips in a sensual manner.
Jealousy coursed through every vein of Lena's, she clenched her fist tightly her face turning dark due to the aggression that had filled her up.
"If you think this little lie of yours would be able to make Henderson yours then you've thought wrong. I'll expose you and Greg in front of Henderson that's my promise."
Kyra erupted in a wave of mocking laughter by the time Lena was done speaking.
"I'm pretty sure that before then you'll find him in my arms and I might actually have his baby by then, Fiance, " Kyra taunted a simper growing wide on her face.
Burning with rage, Lena raised her hand to slap Kyra but before her hand could reach Kyra's face it was held up in the air.
"What going on here?" Greg's voice came his gaze darting from Kyra and then it settled on Lena whose face contorted in anger.
She pulled her hand out of Greg's grip and he let out a chuckle before his expression darkened.
"For your own good. I'll advise you to refrain from doing that, or else you might just be kicked out of this mansion alongside those on your side." Greg warned pointing a finger at her.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure you don't want Itzel and Trent thrown out," Kyra mumbled her eyes scrutinising Lena as she awaited a response from her.
"I thought as much, " Kyra cackled seeing that Lena said nothing else.
"Know your place in this house, bitch. Do not cross my paths who knows, maybe if you are responsible and obedient I might consider making things less difficult for you but it's up to you." Kyra shrugged her shoulder.
"Enough of that, Kyra. You should go tend to Henderson, I'm sure he needs you." Greg smiled peeking at Kyra who nodded in response.
Greg walked ahead. Kyra had a sinister smile on her face as she came in front of Lena. Kyra pushed Lena so hard that she crashed to the floor.
"That was for daring to touch me with those filthy hands of yours." Kyra snickered. She looked down at Lena with eyes flickering with disgust like she was a worthless piece of trash before ambling away.
Lena didn't even make a move to get off the floor, the gears of her mind turned quickly as she racked her brains frantically trying to come up with a plan to put an end to Kyra's and Greg's game, she couldn't bear it anymore.
