Chapter 24— Could It Be Jealousy
"Brian, what the fuck are doing in my house?" Henderson scowled when he walked into the living room and saw Brian seated comfortably on his couch.
"Hey bro, " Brian smiled ignoring Henderson's unwelcoming remarks. He got off the couch, spread his arms and hugged Henderson forcefully since he wasn't interested in the hug.
"That's enough, " Henderson snapped pulling away from the hug. He huffed glaring at Brian who had a huge grin on his face like he just hit a jackpot.
"What are you doing here?" Henderson questioned as he took his seat.
"I just.." Brian started but didn't complete his statement because of Itzel's joyful scream when she sauntered into the living room and saw Brian.
"Uncle B, " she giggled embracing Brian who was now on his feet.
His lips curved in a smile after he took his seat.
"Itzie, It's been such a long time. You've grown so big."
"I know Uncle B, " Itzel beamed proudly, she took her seat beside Brian.
"I've missed you, why don't you come visit anymore?" Itzel face contorted in a frown, her arms were folded across her chest.
"Your dad, " Brian sighed pointing to Henderson.
Henderson's countenance was that of confusion. What strings were Brian trying to pull by involving him in this he thought?
"My Daddy? What did you do to Uncle B?" Itzel's lips were pursed as she turned to Henderson.
"Me?" Henderson jabbed his finger at himself. His brows were furrowed in confusion.
"Did you forget Henderson? You warned me never to step foot here again, " Brian mumbled keeping a sad expression.
"What?" Henderson's eyes bulged out, surprise crossed his face.
Brian was trying so hard to keep a straight face seeing Henderson's facial expression, if he wasn't giving his best not to laugh he would have burst into waves of laughter a long time ago.
"Why would you say that Uncle B, Daddy?" Itzel pouted. She peeked at Henderson with a scrunched-up face.
"I was just kidding Itzel. I haven't been here because I've been so busy with work.." Brian interfered chuckling.
"I thought Daddy really did something, " Itzel smiled before taking her gaze off her dad.
"What did you get me?" Itzel uttered making a cute face.
Brian chortled, he had been waiting for that question. He never dared to visit the mansion without getting anything for Itzel.
"I knew we were going to come to that. So I made sure to get you your favourite Ice.." Before Brian could finish his sentence Itzel hugged him.
"You are the best!" She purred with a wide grin spreading on her face after she disengaged the hug.
"What?" Henderson frowned. His eyes narrowed as his gaze meandered from Brian to his daughter.
"Didn't you tell me that I was the best about an hour ago now Brian is the best, " there was an obvious amount of jealousy in Henderson's tone as he spoke. There was one person who seemed to be a rival for his daughter's love and sweet words whenever he showed up, that person was Brian but now they were two since Lena came into their lives.
"Don't be jealous, you are my Daddy. I love you, " Itzel purred blowing him a kiss.
Henderson's angry face lit up with smiles, his eyes sparkled in the snap of a finger hearing his daughter's words. Itzel knew the words her father loved to hear and using the 'you are my Daddy and I love you' card always worked on him.
"Here are the ice creams, " Brian mouthed stretching a gift bag to Itzel whose eyes gleamed as she took it away from him.
"Did you get three Ice Creams? One for Trent, Aunt Lena and me. Daddy always gets three whenever he buys anything, " Itzel inquired peeking into the bag. She smiled seeing that there were three ice creams in there just like she asked.
"Who is Trent?" Brian cocked his head glancing at Henderson. Henderson wasn't happy with the fact that Itzel was feeding Brian with so much news. He was doing his best to hold himself back from asking Brian to leave his house.
"Aunt Lena's son, " Itzel answered.
"Oh, " Brian nodded.
"I'll go upstairs now, " Itzel mumbled standing up, she took the gift bag and then her eyes swerved in Brian's direction.
"Thank you for the ice cream Unce B."
"Anything for you Itzie, " Brian smiled.
"Where is Lena?" Brian asked.
"None of your...."
"She went out with Trent, " Itzel replied stopping Henderson from completing his rude remarks.
Henderson opened his mouth to say something but didn't when the door grated open revealing Lena and Trent.
Itzel left the bag on the couch before scooting to Lena and hugging her. After Itzel pulled away from the hug, she exchanged pleasantries with Trent.
Lena greeted Henderson after Trent did, and she turned to Brian afterwards.
"Good afternoon Sir, " she mumbled.
"It's Brian Lena, not sir, " Brian said with a smile and Lena returned the smile. She was quite surprised that the guest knew her name but she figured Henderson might have told him.
Brian straightened up from his seat and extended his hands to Lena for a handshake.
"It's nice to meet you, Lena. My best friend Henderson has told so many things about you but he certainly didn't do justice telling how beautiful you are."
Lena smiled shaking his hand she didn't want to appear rude, at first the thought that Brian was trying to flirt with her came to her mind but she shoved it off. She considered him to be friendly and nothing else but she was confused by the expression on Henderson's face when she glanced at him. It appeared as though he was pissed about something but what could it be?
"Brian let go of her hand. I'm sure your grip is getting too right, " Henderson's voice came, the possessive tone being pretty obvious as he scowled at Brian.
Henderson watching Lena smile so much at Brian arose an ill feeling in him, she never smiled at him that much. More so it seemed like she had been avoiding since the past few days after Alia and Maya left especially after the game they played.
The fact that Henderson knew that his best friend showing up here despite his clear warning made him upset. But he never thought he was going to feel the way he felt seeing the handshake that was taking more time than expected. Even though Lena and Brian were just exchanging pleasantries, to him it seemed like it they were on a date. Could it be jealousy?
