Chapter 18— Accomplished Mission
"Itzel why did you push him, " Lena questioned seeing Itzel move away when Trent fell to the floor with a thud after she pushed him.
Itzel frowned and crossed her arms seeing how Lena rushed to Trent who was in tears picking him up from the floor, his hand was bruised from the fall. Lena grabbed the first aid kit after making him sit, she started to tend to his wounds.
Henderson had called for Lena earlier so she went to meet him leaving Trent and Itzel together in the playroom, just when she was at the door she saw Itzel push Trent when he was playing.
"What happened to him?" Henderson mumbled as he strode into the room. Itzel stepped to the side, now she was worried about what her Daddy was going to say to her if he found out she pushed Trent deliberately to him.
Itzel's chest squeezed when her Daddy walked past her to Trent who was still crying and crouched in front of him.
"I pushed him, Daddy. He is trying to steal you away, " Itzel voiced out making Lena and Henderson turn to her.
Confusion marred Henderson's face as his daughter's words played in his head. She pushed Trent deliberately and she was saying it like it was a good thing she did.
"You did what?" Henderson asked with furrowed brows as he straightened up and strutted to Itzel who gazed downwards.
"How would you do that? And who told you that Trent is trying to steal me away from you? Asanel speak up, " his voice was soft but in a strict tone as he called her middle name.
He seldom called her Asanel except for times he was extremely pissed with her. Also, he didn't like to call her by the name because that was what her mom always addressed her with.
Itzel tilted her head to gaze at Lena. She expected to get Lena's support, she wanted Lena to interfere and save her from getting scolded but Lena did nothing.
Lena was disappointed, she thought the awkwardness between Trent and Itzel was the common kids' rivalry which usually went away with time but she didn't think that it was this serious. But she didn't blame Itzel totally for it, maybe someone else was feeding her with all this, Lena thought. She could only trace it to Maya.
"It's true, Nanny you don't love me. You only love your son, " Itzel burst into tears by the time the last word left her mouth.
Lena's heart was heavy as Itzel's words confirmed her thoughts. She didn't call her aunt Lena as she usually did, now she was back to being Nanny to Itzel and it pained her seeing that Itzel felt like that.
Itzel whimpered averting her gaze from Lena and then it rested on her Daddy.
"Daddy you don't love me anymore."
"Enough Itzel. Apologise to Trent, " her Daddy's scolding tone pissed her even more instead of trying to console her all he cared about was Trent.
Itzel turned to Trent, her lips curled up with dislike and eyes filled with anger.
"Sorry, " with that she ran out of the room.
Lena got up, she was done tending to Trent's wound. She made to go after Itzel but Henderson beckoned her to stop.
"Let it be, Lena. She needs to learn her lesson. he stated.
"But sir..." Lena tried to counter but he chipped in.
"No buts, what she did was wrong? A child needs to be corrected, remember? You taught me that."
"Get out of my room, " Itzel fumed turning in the direction of the door when it flung open.
"Itzel darling, are you crying?" Maya feigned concern running to Itzel and enveloped her in a hug. Itzel tried to pull away but Maya held still.
"It's ok darling, " Maya purred patting her back. Itzel broke into tears clutching to Maya.
Maya grinned wickedly when Itzel reciprocated the hug. Placing both palms on Itzel's shoulder Maya pulled her away slowly.
"So tell me, why are you crying?" She asked softly cupping Itzel's cheeks.
Maya knew all that had happened, she hid somewhere and watched everything take place, right from when Itzel pushed Trent to Lena walking in and then Henderson scolding her but she just wanted to hear it from Itzel so she could poison her mind further.
"I told you, didn't I? Lena loves only Trent and now your Daddy only cares about him. But don't worry you have me ok? I'll be a good mommy for you." Maya smiled making Itzel sit on the bed after she told her all that transpired at the playroom.
"I hate Trent, this is all because of him, " Itzel cried burying her face in Maya's chest.
At the playroom...
"Mommy you should go check on Itzel. She is sad, " Trent mumbled tapping his mom's hand.
Henderson's lips pressed together, he had an amused expression on his face.
"Are you not mad at her? You got injured because Itzel pushed you and you are still worried about her?" Henderson asked sitting beside Trent.
"Mommy says it's good to forgive, and Itzel is my friend so I forgive her." Trent smiled.
"Your mommy is a great mom, " Henderson praised glancing at Lena who gleams at the compliment.
"Yes, she is the best mommy, " Trent nodded in agreement.
"Sir, it's best if I go talk to Itzel. I'm worried about her, not talking to her will only make her feel that the things she said are true, " Lena uttered rising to her feet.
Henderson shook his head, " No Lena. What she did wasn't a small thing and did you see her attitude when I spoke to her? She was rude and disrespectful. The only reason why I haven't taken all her toys away is because you said it going to be too much of a punishment. You can talk to her only when she comes to terms with the fact that what she did was very bad."
"I'll be upstairs, come along Trent," Henderson stood up and stretched his hands to Trent who peered at Lena seeking permission.
"Go, " she beckoned with a small smile. With that Henderson and Trent left the room.
Lena exhaled and plopped on a chair when they were gone, she didn't like what was happening at the moment. The Henderson she knew wouldn't punish his daughter no matter what she did now she could not stop blaming herself for causing all of this. Itzel wasn't used to this kind of upbringing so it was going to be too hard on her.
"You are so smart, aren't you? Turning the father against his daughter so your little boy can take Itzel's place, "Maya's voice alongside her disturbing clap aired in the room forcing Lena to gaze in the direction of the door.
Maya stood there with her nose crinkled in disgust, her arms folded across her chest.
Lena ignored her, she got off the chair and ambled to the door. Just as she walked past the door, she was pulled back by a furious Maya who slapped her hard across the cheek.
"You don't ignore me when I talk to you." Maya snarled.
Lena's mouth was agape when she touched her cheeks which reddened and stung painfully from the slap. Lena chewed on her lower lips, her hands were clenched in anger. Maya was trampling on her and now it was difficult to keep herself from reacting but she just had to, she reminded herself. She took a deep breath calming herself down.
"Does it hurt?" Maya mocked trying to touch Lena but Lena shoved her hands away before they reached her face.
"This is just the beginning bitch." Maya scowled.
"What is happening here?" Alia questioned scooting into the room. Her eyes moved from Lena to Maya.
Maya raised her hand touching her cheek and then she winced, " Lena slapped me."
