"Do you mind if I take this with us?" Alex asked after both julirt had calmed down a bit. Thankfully, Gladys had kept her son's things well and still had a comb that had hair in it... they could use it as a DNA sample to find out if Juliet was Gerald's daughter... "Of course," Gladys said, knowing what Alex intended to do with it. She, too, wanted to know and wished Juliet was her granddaughter. She could tell Juliet was a nice person just like her mother had been... "Thank you", He said, and Gladys smiled Warmly at him.....
"Are you two married?" Gladys couldn't help but ask the question that had been on the back of her mind since she opened her front door and saw them. They looked really good together and reminded her of Gerald and Juliet's mother when they were younger and so much in love... Juliet's face became completely flushed at Gladys's question, and before she could say that they weren't married Alex bit her to it and said "We will be soon" her heart skipped a bit and she turned to look at him... he smiled warmly at her and took her hand... Juliet smiled back at him and felt more than safe...
"The both of you make a lovely couple... I hope both of you will be happy for the rest of your lives. " She wished them and Alex felt more than delighted to heart this... he was the one thing he wished for, to be happy with her for a long time...
"You both can stay for dinner if you want," Gladys said as she walked them to the door... it was getting already, and if they agreed, she was going to let them stay the night... Juliet looked at Alex for an escape because she didn't know how to decline Gladys' offer... she needed some time to think and wished they could submit the DNA sample immediately for testing so she could know the result... then she could start looking for Gerald, and that way, he could tell her what really happened between her mother and him... she wished he was still alive and somewhere, maybe he had a new family... "I wish we could, Gladys, but we have a long drive ahead of us," Alex said, and Gladys nodded... She stood at her door and watched as they walked away... Just as they were about to get into their car, juliet stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Gladys, who looked sad to see them go... "I will be right back," Juliet said to Alex, and he nodded. he released her hand and turned to see juliet walked away towards where Gladys was standing. "Did you forget something dear?" Gladys asked, and juliet nodded. "Yes, I did." Gladys was about to ask her what she forgot, but she completely froze when juliet leaned closer and warmed her arms around her... she hugged juliet back, a warm smile appearing on her face... she was right, she had a beautiful heart just like her mother... she only looked like Gerald but was nothing like him. "I promise to help you find him," Juliet said in a low voice... she could tell that Gladys must have been really lonely for so many years...
Alex had a lingering smile on his face as he stood there watching them. he waited till juliet was done and smiled Warmly at him when she walked back to where he was... Gladys waved at them as they drove away, and juliet waved back at he... She was happy that Gladys could turn out to be her grandmother... at first someone would think she wasn't nice, but she was a really warm person...
"How are you? how do you feel? " Alex asked a few minutes into their drive back home... they still had a long way to go. "I'm not sure, I feel a bit sad and happy all at the same time..." Juliet said. a part of her was sad that she hadn't learned about all this soon enough, but another part of her was happy that she had finally met Gladys...
"Do you think I can ever find him?" Juliet asked, and Alex didn't know what answer to give her... if Gerald had been missing for over twenty years, then it might be a bit hard for her to find him... "I searched my mom's room, but there is nothing there about him, only an old picture that is almost ruined, I wonder if he is still alive or what really happened between the both of them. they looked really happy together, " Juliet said, her mind travelling back to the pictures that were in Gladys' house... she glanced at the back seat where all the box was... Gladys had given it to her and told her to keep it. maybe she might find something useful inside...
"we have to try. but first, we have to get the samples tested. I will have this taken to a lab first thing tomorrow morning, and we will get the results as soon as possible, " Alex assured, and juliet nodded. "Do you think he might really be my father?" She asked the ultimate question that had been plaguing her mind.... if he wasn't her father, then why would her mother lead her to Gladys' house... was there something she wanted her to find out other than that... she doubted it...
"I think he is, but we can't trust only our words and thoughts. we will find out in a few days... I will have people search for him immediately. " Juliet nodded and took Alex free hand in hers... "Thank you for following me,"
"You don't have to thank me," Alex said and brought her hand to his lips... he planted a soft kiss and melted her heart... how could she love him less when he was the best person ever... she loved him so much and has Gladys had said. she wanted to be happy with him for a long time
