"Julie!" Juliet stopped in her tracks when she heard her name and turned to see who it was, but she immediately regretted it and wished she would have just ignored... It was Mrs Flicher, the number one gossiper in the area, and juliet was aware that she wad part of their daily gossip. she had overheard then at the supermarket a few blocks aware, gossiping about her in broad day, and she couldn't believe what came out of their mouths. they didn't even know her, and they thought it was okay to talk that way about her... Mrs Flicher was number on the list of people juliet wanted to avoid... Her mother wasn't here anymore to stop her from saying her mind now...
Mrs Flicher quickly walked to where juliet was standing, a smile which Juliet knew was fake was on the older woman's face... "I'm so glad I ran into you." She started and held Juliet's hand... "I heard about your mother. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the wake. I was away for a few days. " Juliet knew she was telling a lie but didn't care. She just wanted to get going already... "You looked great, though... you don't look like someone who is mourning, " Mrs Flicher muttered the last part...
"I should get going," juliet said, wanting to escape from having a conversation with her. "Wait, Julie. I wanted to give you this. " Juliet watched as Mrs flicher reached into her purse and brought out a business card. She handed it to juliet, and juliet hesitantly took it from her.
"This belongs to my nephew he is single too... I know you must be lonely after your mother's passing...he is a good guy, give him a call I told him about you already" A frown had immediately settled on Juliet's face as soon as Mrs Flicher started talking. She knew nothing good would come out of talking to this woman... Juliet forced out a smile and handed the business card to Mrs Flicher. "I'm sorry, but I'm not interested."
"Oh dear, you must be. you finished college last year. Shouldn't you be looking for how to settle down with a nice man now? " Mrs Flicher urged, and Juliet tried her best not to say what was in her mind out. She knew exactly who Mrs Flicher nephew was. He was a player who attended the same college as her... His reputation had been sullied all over, and people avoided him now. No one wanted to go on a blind date with him, and now she wanted to dump such a person on her? Juliet had had enough...
"I'm sorry, but I'm not single anymore, so I won't be needing this." Juliet blurted out and immediately regretted her words. She faced palmed herself in her mind... Mrs Flicher looked surprised, and juliet almost burst out laughing but controlled herself... "It must be that young man," Mrs flicher muttered, but juliet couldn't hear her well..
"I should really get going." She turned away and started to walk off... "Why did I have to tell such a lie?" Julieg muttered on her way home... She wasn't sure why, but Mrs Flicher was getting too much on her nerves, and she needed her to leave her alone. Now what she did was give them something more to gossip about... She sighed and unlocked her front door, her mind trailing to him... She wondered what he was doing right now... Had she been expecting him to show up... Juliet and looked around before entering into her house. Of course, he had no reason to show up anymore...
