Ethan had Patrick drive them to a grocery store that was a bit far away from the neighbourhood juliet lived, and she was more than grateful. "I can get home by myself from here. you don't have to follow me in" She said to him as she was about to walk into the grocery store but Alex ignored her words and walked in leaving her standing at the entrance trying to hold back a smile... she walked in after him, feeling much better than she had been an hour ago...
Patrick watched both of them from a distance and wondered what this little romance that was starting to bloom would lead to. would she be okay when she found out about the family Alex was from or the type of person his mother was. Would she be able to withstand Michelle wrath... He sighed deeply, unsure of what Alex was trying to get himself into when he knew how his mother was trying to set him up with someone she had chosen herself. Michelle even sent him a date reserved as a blind date for Alex with a woman named Gina. She was the second daughter of a very wealthy family, and unlike juliet, everyone would be in support of this Gina, not Juliet. He had worked for Alex for years now and knew what it meant to be involved with such wealthy people. One thing he was about was that they hated when their children mixed with people who weren't of the same class as them... They liked it when everything was perfect and not distorted. and what Alex was doing was trying to distort it...
He opened his phone and sent a message... He cancelled the blind date because he knew Alex would never answer him or try to even know who his date was. Someone else had caught his boss' entire attention, and nothing else seemed to matter to him anymore...
"This?" Alex pointed at something at an aisle and juliet. He continued to walk in front of her, and she smiled... was he the one doing the shopping or her... He didn't even let her pick anything and helped her pick it instead... "What are you planning on having for lunch?" He asked her when he finally slowed his pace and walked by her side... "I don't know yet..." She said, her heart racing when their shoulders kept touching occasionally...
"How about lunch together then?" He said, and she tilted her head to look at him. she wanted to say yes, but she couldn't. She had to work from home today and couldn't delay it any longer because they were short staffed. "Not today..." She said and added "Maybe some other time. " A few seconds later... and Alex nodded. "How about tomorrow?"
did he really not have where to be at. why was he so free. she wanted to say that to him. "Maybe" was all she said... when they got to The check out, Alex brought out his black card and was about to pay for her, but she immediately handed her card to the cashier before he could.. there was no way she was letting him pay... "I can pay for my groceries myself," She said, and he nodded...
They walked out of the grocery store with him carrying all the bags and not letting her carry any. she had tried to take it from him but he didn't let her. "We should have lunch tomorrow," he said and walked away ...
"I really should get going. It's getting pretty late," Juliet said and cleared her throat when he got to his car, and he wanted to place her groceries in his trunk.
.. "Yes. let me drop you off, " He offered, and she was about to decline, but he didn't give her the liberty to and placed all of her groceries in his car... she sighed deeply when he opened the car door and gestured for her to enter. He was a bit stubborn... Juliet was expecting to see Patrick sitting at the driver's seat, but he wasn't there... he got into the car, curious to where he had gone to...
"He had some where to be," Alex lied, even though he was the one who had texted Patrick that he could leave so he could drive her home himself... She nodded, wondering who Patrick was exactly.
Was he just his driver. They looked closer than that. everything around Alex seemed to be a mystery for her... "Are you sure you will be okay by yourself?" Alex asked, concern after what he had witnessed a few hours ago. "I will be fine," She assured the stranger that she was slowly growing on. The ride to back to her house was a silent one... Juliet's hand was fisted beside her as her heart raced in her chest. she could feel him glancing at her occasionally, and it made her nervous...
She finally glanced at him, and their eyes met this time. they both looked away at the same time. the atmosphere in the car became a bit tense... and time seemed to pass by really slowly...
When they got to her house he made sure to walk her to her front door with all her groceries and juliet made sure not to let him in, because she was sure if she did he would help her arrange the groceries too... "Thank you" she said to him and he smiled at her
Alex watched her go in before he turned to leave, too...
A deep frown settled on Alex's face as she got into his car and started the engine... He placed his ear pods in his ears and dialled a number... "Did you find out who that woman was?" He said in a firm voice and stopped his car just two blocks away from Juliet's house...
"Yes, sir, she is her estranged aunt. They aren't close and she hasn't seen her in years... From what I found out today from the women in the neighbourhood, she came to ask for her share of an insurance money... But there is none. She is really a shameless person. " Patrick informed Alex who had given him a task when he had asked him to leave earlier...
Alex sighed deeply and almost slammed his hand on his steering wheel. he could still remember the anger he felt when she had placed her filthy hands on Juliet. He knew that she was her aunt, but she had absolutely no right to show up... "She is a really piece of work. she has a lot of debts due to gambling. " Patrick continued, and Alex was further infuriated. "Can you have someone watch Juliet's house, in case she tries to show up again to harm her and cause a scene. i want her to be protected twenty-four seven, " Alex instructed, and Patrick ended the call to do as he was told even though he thought Alex was being a little extreme than careful.
