Juliet sat in Joy's car, completely frozen, as she listened to what Joy was showing and telling her. Joy showed her all the bruises on her arms that Daniel had inflicted on her, and Juliet gasped, her eyes wide in horror. "We can't stay here for long; he might have found out what is left", Joy said; she was scared that he might have placed some kind of tracker on the car, and now she would have to ditch it. She should have thought of that when escaping, but she had been too scared to think about that, and all she could think about was escaping. "We have to leave the car behind. I think he might have placed a tracker on it to find me if I ever try to escape," She said to Juliet, who was thinking of what to do. She knew she had to tell Alex about it because they needed his help. "First, we have to get out of here," Juliet said, and they both left the car and hailed a taxi. "Thank you,", Joy said to Juliet again, and she nodded and took Joy's hand in hers and squeezed it... They arrived at the apartment a while later, and Joy was hesitant to go in at first, but Juliet successfully convinced her that everything would be fine... "Is Alex home?" Joy asked as they went up the elevator, and Juliet shook her head. "No, he is at work" She unlocked the front door and led Joy to the living room while Juliet went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. She also called Alex up. He needed to be there. "Hello, Alex, you need to come home right now", Juliet said immediately. Alex answered the phone call. "Is something wrong?" Alex asked at the other end of the line, immediately becoming worried, but Juliet sighed deeply. "No, I mean. Just come home right now. you need to be here..." She said to Alex before ending the call and going back to the living room where Joy was. She handed the glass of water to Joy and made her drink from it before Juliet finally told her about what she had done. "I called Alex and told him to come home... you don't have to worry I didn't tell him that you are here. He is the only one that can help you right now" Juliet explained and joyfully nodded. She knew Alex was a kind boy but it didn't change the fact that he was Daniel's nephew and his family. She had contemplated asking for his help before but ended up not doing it because she was afraid he would confront his uncle about it... and what if Daniel manipulated him into thinking she was the one at fault, he was close to his uncle and had been close to him since he was a child... Joy took another sip from her water, and Juliett tried to console her as she cried silently. They both sat there waiting for Alex to arrive Joy kept counting the seconds in her head as she thought about Martha and if Daniel had approached her to tell him where she was. Thankfully she never told Martha where she was headed... "He isn't who you think he is" Joy started in a low voice, a sad smile on her face as she thought about everything she had to go through at the hands of Daniel for so many years because she was terrified of what he would do to her and their son... she should have stood her ground, but decided to put up with him. Juliet's hand travelled to her hand and squeezed it in support... she regretted that she hadn't taken the call seriously sooner... "What happened in that house," Juliet asked, and Joy turned to look at her saviour; if Juliet had ignored her calls, then she would still be trapped there... " he is a monster..." Joy said her voice trembling as she spoke... "He acted like he was the best man to everyone, but he wasn't... he was the best man to me once too and when he asked me to marry him and quit my job, I didn't hesitate because I loved him, even though I found it odd that he wanted us to move away to the countryside where no one was. I thought he just loved a quiet life and didn't think much of it, but this would be the start of a nightmare that would last for years." Joy tried to blink back her tears as she spoke... "He would be very controlling and didn't want me speaking to anyone I knew... he always wanted to know every single thing and sometimes locked me in the house for days. My son tried to stand up to him, and he sent him off and threatened I would never see him again If I tried to leave again, so I had to put up with everything for so long, and then I couldn't take it anymore... I just couldn't take it anymore after what I found out..." Joy explained and wiped the stray tears that had escaped her eyes. It was a few days before Alex was supposed to visit them at their house... that was when she had found out the entire truth and she was beyond horrified but knew if she acted rashly, things wouldn't end well for her. so she had to put up the ultimate act like everything was fine and Julie seemed to be the way out that she had been searching for for a long time. she had risked her life and collected Juliet's number but couldn't keep the number on her phone because Dan checked it every single day... She swallowed when she remembered what she had found out, her heart racing in fear. Alex needed to know the truth before it was too late... Juliet felt her eyes water up as she listened to Joy; she could only imagine what she had to go through all alone with no one to help her. Joy wiped the tears in her eyes away; she didn't have time and knew Dan was searching for her. It would only be a matter of time before he found her. "I found something out a few months back...." She continued, her hand fisted as she swallowed. She turned to look at Juliet, who genuinely looked sorry for what had happened to her. "what did you find out?" Juliet asked, her heart racing in fear that what Joy was about to tell her would shock her once again because she still couldn't believe that Daniel was such a monster. He seemed and acted like a good person but one never knew anyone's true nature. It scared her to think that Joy had been left alone with such a monster with no one to help her... "He thought I was asleep, but I wasn't... his phone had rang in the middle of the night, and he left the room to answer the call. he had done this a few times, but this time, I decided to follow him out...." Joy paused to catch her ragged breath... "And what he said baffled me... he is a murderer... he killed someone..." Joy said, and Juliet's eyes grew wide in complete shock... "Her name was Glenda, and she was Alex's nanny... he confessed to it and threatened who he was speaking with on the phone. He threatened to kill her, too, if she tried to reveal the truth, and I was baffled. I couldn't believe what I was hearing...! I was too scared to tell anyone... I couldn't. What if he tried to kill Me, too... I know he can and would..." Joy said, her entire body trembling uncontrollably as she spoke while Juliet sat there in complete shock...
