"Have you called a taxi?" Charles said, and Gina swallowed... "I don't need to call a taxi. I only had a few drinks... I'm not drunk or even tipsy, " She answered, and Charles got up... he didn't look like he was going to let her walk out of the room so easily... He looked like he was about to scold her...
"What if you get pulled over by the police?" He said... Gina opened her mouth to talk, but no words came out... "What about my car then, I can't leave it here." She finally found the words to say... She could take of herself... she has been taking care of herself...
"You don't have to worry about your car. I can drop it over at your boutique tomorrow morning..." Charles took out his phone from his pocket, and Gina watched him do whatever he was doing till he was done... Her eyes travelled back and forth between him and his phone and it looked like he was texting someone...
"I've called you a taxi... you can sit and wait till the taxi gets here, " He said to her and gestured for her to take a seat... Gina was hesitant at first and wanted to voice out a protest, but on a second thought, she didn't want to leave just yet, so she sat down back... Silence enveloping the both of them.. Not one of them saying a single word even though she could feel his gaze on her... and why was her heart racing... why was she nervous and why was he room suddenly so hot... and her cheeks too... it was burning up...
Gina turned to glance at him, and their eyes met and locked... it took her a few seconds to look aware from Charles... her chest heaving... Gina finally admitted that she no longer found him annoying. Instead, he made her nervous... She knew she was starting to develop some sort of feelings for this man... What she didn't know was what the feeling was... Was it simply just attraction, a fleeting feeling that would pass or something else... Finding out what this feeling was slowly developing, her heart scared her... It could stand as a stumbling block of her goals and cloud her judgements. It was happening already... Alex was mostly never on her mind. Her mind was now being occupied by the man seating beside her, who wouldn't stop staring... It felt like his gaze was burning into her and it only increased her nervousness...
"Is the taxi almost here.. I can take care of myself, " Gina said in a low voice... "Just wait for a few minutes more... I don't want you to go yet, " Charles muttered the last words, but Gina heard him, and her heart stopped... He wanted her to stay... Gina gave her head a little shake internally... she had to think straight and not be swayed by his words..
She fisted her hand beside her... this wasn't good...
Gina stood up abruptly, not being able to bear the tension that was slowly forming between she and Charles... "I should wait outside for the taxi," She said and almost bolted out of the room....
A slight smile appeared on Charles face when he saw that she had left her bag like she had done once before... Charles picked up the bag and chuckled a little ad he walked out of the room...
Charles walked out of the entrance of his bar, and his eyes started to search around till it fell on Gina and his world stood still for a moment...
He stood there just staring at her, and the warmest feeling he had ever felt in his life enveloped his heart and his entire body... it felt like time had frozen, and all that mattered in his world was her... He was mesmerised and stunned... Charles swallowed when she turned to look at him... His eyes never left her...
Her face had the look of confusion at first, and then her eyes travelled to his hand... she looked at her hand and realised she had left her bag behind again... She looked mad at herself and started to walk towards him... Charles couldn't take his eyes off her as she inched towards him... "The taxi isn't here yet," She said, and even her voice made his heart melt like butter...
"I will take this," Gina said and reached for her bag in his hand when he remained silent and continued to stare at her... was there something on her face...
Just as she was about to take the bag from him, Charles held her hand, stopping her... she looked up at him with wide eyes when she felt that invisible spark she had felt when they were alone in the private room rise to again... she immediately retracted her hand... Her heart racing like crazy...
"Just now I think something crazy is happening to me," Charles said in a low voice. He still looked completely smitten by her...
Gina became even more confused... what was he talking about...
"What do you mean? what is happening to you? " She asked? her eyes scanning him, maybe she could find a hint about what was wrong... but she doubted it was something she could see with her physical eyes... it was something else... something that she wanted to and at the same time wasn't sure if she was ready to hear...
"The taxi should be here by now," Gina said nervously, trying to divert from whatever was happening, but Charles wasn't ready to do so. for the first time in his life, he felt like he was thinking very clearly... like something had possessed him or rather someone...
"Gina, I'm not sure what your answer will be, but do you want to go on a date with me... I think I have feelings for you, " Charles blurted out suddenly, and Gina's heart dropped...
This shouldn't be happening! "What!" He exclaimed in shocked... he looked dead serious, why Gina looked completely flawed.
