Juliet sat there for a few minutes with her arm over her face and her eyes closed. Gina could have simply never approached her and kept everything to herself but she even came to her office to see her just because she wanted to tell her about it and what even made her more surispied was the fact that Alex knew about it and never said a thing to her. was that why he didn't want to go to the police. Gina had looked sorry and sincere when she asked for her forgiveness, but Juliet who wasn't sure about the entire circumstances that led to the event that happened couldn't easily accept her apology... she had no idea the kind of person Gina was and if she had the thought to run someone over with her car just because the person who you wanted to get engaged to had someone else he loved then she was crazy because from what she knew, Gina and Alex weren't in any kind of relationship. Juliet took her phone out of her bag and sent a text to Alex to inform him that she was on her way home so he shouldn't bother himself by coming to her workplace to pick her up. She placed the phone back in her bag and heard it vibrate but didn't take it out of her bag because she knew it was a reply from Alex...
"you don't look well, ma'am. Are you alright?" The taxi driver, who looked like an extremely nosy person, asked when he couldn't keep his thoughts and curiosity to himself. "I'm fine, sir", Juliet answered in a tone that told him that she didn't want to talk anymore about it. They finally arrived at the apartment, and Juliet smiled slightly at him and headed to the elevator that took her to the penthouse... she opened the door, and Alex was standing in the hallway when she walked in like he had been waiting for her to arrive. He looked worried because he had been calling her phone but hadn't gotten an answer. He had only stopped calling when she sent him a text that she was on her way home... she had a slight frown on her face and Juliet said nothing to him... she took off her shoes, and before Alex could talk to her, she walked right past him and headed straight to the kitchen. Alex had noticed that she wasn't in a pleasant mood as soon as she walked in through the front door and he just confirmed that...
"Juliet" He called out of her and followed her to the kitchen. Juliet dropped her bag on the countertop and then walked to the refrigerator and took out a jug of chilled water... Alex was there as she watched her walk to where the glasses were. She glanced at him as she placed the jug and glass on the countertop...
"I spoke to Gina today", Juliet said as she poured herself a glass of water. She stopped and drank the water slowly as Alex stared at her. Shock in his eyes. Why did she speak to Gina? "What are you talking about?" He asked and walked to where she was standing. Juliet let off a deep sigh and dropped the glass on the countertop. She turned to look at Alex, a deep frown on her face. "Why did you hide it from me?" She asked; she still remembered that day vividly... she didn't even know why, but she was mad. She was mad at everyone but especially Alex for such a thing from her, but a part of her understood why he had. What would he have told her? That crazy woman to his mother wanted him to be engaged to try to run the both of them over with her car. Juliet wasn't sure how she would have reacted back then if he told her that... "She told me everything and asked for my forgiveness, but I didn't know what to say; I left there", Juliet added. Alex tried to take Juliet's hand in his, but she didn't let him and instead placed both of her hands by the side of her waist and sighed deeply. "What do you think would have happened if you told me back then? do you think I would have left you, that she would scare me away from you?" She asked and Alex couldn't say yes or no. he could only stare at her apologetically. he had warned Gina to stay away from Juliet but she had done the exact opposite of what he asked her to do... "to be honest, I have no idea how I would have reacted too and I couldn't help but wonder as she spoke to me what would have happened if she had ran us over that day. What would have happened if it had been serious? Do you think I should have forgiven her? I feel guilty for leaving her office like that. She looked very sorry," Juliet said, and Alex shook his head. "No, you don't have to forgive her if you don't want to", Alex said, and Juliet sighed deeply... she said nothing and simply poured herself another glass of water... she drank it and gave her head a little shake. "What should we have for dinner today?" She asked Alex, who was still worried about her. She didn't look like she was mad anymore, and Alex decided to clarify everything.
"My mother was the one who wanted me to get engaged to her. I never wanted any part of it. I never really spoke to her before then. I made it clear to her already that I had someone else," Alex explained himself, and Juliet simply nodded and walked to the refrigerator. She took out some vegetables while Alex stood in the same spot staring at her. Was she mad or not? He had no idea. Her silence made him feel uneasy.
"She is getting married to my cousin soon", He added, and Juliet finally turned to look at him. "your cousin?" She asked, and Alex nodded. "they love each other, and I hope they can be happy together, but I'm worried about him. She looks like she has changed, but one could never know" The Gina that Alex knew would never apologise to Juliet even when she was wrong. But this new version of Gina was different...
