The days went by quickly, and soon everything started to go back to normal... Glenda's case was reopened and Michelle and Daniel were charged to court to be tried... Months had passed and Alex barely spoke about what happened... He seemed to have moved on, but Juliet knew deep down that he still thought about it from time to time... he refused to see his uncle, and she thought it was for the best... Joy had reunited with her son again and filed for divorce from Daniel, which he was forced to grant her because she had sued him in court for the pain he had inflicted on her... he was being charged, and he was facing a hefty prison sentence... Michelle, on the other hand, was going to face a lighter sentence because she had helped the police and had come clean... her sister was by her side every step of the way and even if Alex didn't show it, Juliet knew he was relieved to each that... she had heard him talking on the phone with Patrick and asking him to get his mother the best defence attorneys... maybe one day they could amend their broken relationship... Juliet knew it was going to take a while for that to happen... "Everything is fine grandma, you don't have to worry," Juliet said to her grandmother at the other end of the line... her grandmother had somehow heard about what happened to Alex and had been calling her frequently to check up on him... "okay dear.... your father is getting released next week, we spoke earlier today" Gladys informed and Juliet froze from what she was doing and the cup she was holding almost fell from her hand, thankfully Alex who was closeby caught it in time before it could and she turned to look at him, with a dazed expression... "I have to go now, Grandma. I will visit you soon with Alex," Juliet said and ended the call... Alex's eyes were on her as she poured herself a glass of water and drank from it... he waited till she was done before he finally spoke to her. "Are you alright?" he asked, and Juliet nodded. "I'm fine, I was just clumsy...I've been clumsy lately," She said, her eyes darting around for something that she could do. She was about to walk past Alex, but he held her hand, stopping her. "I know that you knew about him getting released next week", he said, and Juliet froze again.... she had been avoiding the topic as a whole, but now that Alex asked, she knew she couldn't avoid it anymore... "Yes, I know... it's just..." She trailed off, and Alex pulled her into his arms.... he wrapped his hand around her waist, and Juliet let out a deep sigh... "What's wrong?" He asked. "I don't know what to say to him...." She answered... that sad feeling slowly slipping into her heart as she remembered the last time she saw her father... "I don't want to be sad and resentful anymore..." Juliet said, a sad smile on her face, and she blinked back the stray tears that almost escaped her eyes... "I have to try for my grandma... she wants us to reconcile... but it's hard you know... I spent my entire life without him," Juliet said, her voice a bit shaky as he spoke.. she thought about what her mother would think if she was still with her. Would she ask her to forgive her father and try to work things out with him? She wondered... "one step at a time", Alex said, and Juliet nodded. "one step at a time" seemed to have turned into their motto, and it had been working well for the both of them... "What do you want to do then... you still have till next week to make a decision..." Alex asked, and Juliet looked at him confused... "let's do anything you want...I'm up for it..." Alex added... he wanted to cheer her up, like how she had been cheering him up, and Juliet couldn't think of anything that she wanted to do... she would have said they should stay home, but there wasn't any fun in that... "I can't think of anything" she finally said after almost a minute of pondering... "How about we go on a trip" Alex suggested and watched as Juliet's face immediately lit up. "a trip?" She said and he nodded. "But what about work?" She asked and Alex sighed deeply... "We will only be gone for a few days you don't have to worry, a few days off wouldn't kill us... and we have been working diligently for months..." Alex said, even though he knew Patrick would only end up complaining about how he was going to skip work when he had so much work he needed to do, but Alex needed a break and he knew Juliet needed one too... "But..." Juliet continued, but Alex immediately placed his finger on her lips so she wouldn't say anything else to convince him otherwise... "Where do you want to go to?" He asked, and Juliet swallowed... she wanted to go on a trip with Alex... he had been busy with work after the whole ordeal, and they only got to see each other well on weekends. She wanted to spend uninterrupted days with him... "I chose where we went last time, it's your turn to choose", Juliet said, and Alex nodded. It was indeed his turn... he acted like he was thinking about it for a few seconds even though he already had a place that he wanted to go to with her in his mind... "The beach..." Alex said... "the beach?" Juliet released, and he nodded. "Yes, the beach; I've been wanting to go there for a while now... I missed the time we spent there" he added and Juliet's face became flushed as the memories flooded her mind and they were naughty memories... she swallowed and nodded. "the beach it is" she said and Alex planted a soft kiss on her lips that melted her like butter, but before Juliet could deepen the kiss Alex broke it and planted a heart fluttering kiss on her nose that made Juliet giggle... "when do you want to go" She asked and she gasped when Alex picked her up bridal style "Tomorrow, we have something we must do first" he whispered close to her ear that made spark course through her entire body from her head to her... "What do we have to do?" She whispered back, and as an answer, Alex captured her lips and took her breath away...
