"Do you think Alex would ever forgive me?" Michelle said to her sister as they sat in Caroline's courtyard for some tea... "What are you talking about? Are you worried now that he might marry that girl? I heard she moved into his penthouse. Do you think she is taking your son away from you? The two of you were never close in the first place, " Caroline said, her mind trailing to Charles and Gina... He had finally moved out of her house, and though they had spoken on the phone a few times. She barely saw him anymore. It broke her heart to know that her son, who she was always close to was slowly starting to drift away. She didn't want her and Charles's relationship to end up like Alex and Michelle. They were like an estranged mother and son, and if she hadn't been there and seen when Michelle was pregnant, one would have mistaken Michelle for an evil stepmother who disliked her stepchild. But she had been at the hospital when Alex was born, and Michelle had been elated... It made Caroline wonder about where everything went completely wrong? why had Michelle drifted away from her son, which she once doted on? Caroline had asked her sister the same question a dozen times, but Michelle had just simply ignored her and wouldn't give her a reason... Michelle shook her head... "No, it's not that, but..." She trailed off and blinked back the tears that were threatening to fall from her eyes... "I've been watching Alex and this girl, and he looks so happy... He smiles more these days, and for the first time in a long time, he feels like my son again, " Michelle said in a low voice, her heart aching... She couldn't even deny the fact that Juliet made Alex happy and even after the conversation she had with Juliet, she could tell that Juliet cared for her son and was truly worried about him, she didn't become mad like she thought she would instead, she felt relieved and maybe she wasn't mad aboutJuliett background but about the fact that she couldn't perform her role as his mother and was selfish and self centered... she knew she had failed at being a good mother to Alex, and back then, she had thought she was doing the right thing. she always thought she did the right thing, but now she wasn't sure what was the right thing anymore, but everything which she felt was right was starting to feel like it had been wrong the whole time... her decision. her freaking decision had turned her life into something she wasn't sure of anymore... "These days I keep thinking about his father... Back then Alex was just a child and he had to witness all of that...it was really messy, he grew up faster than he should have" Michelle continued and Caroline dropped the tea cup in his saucer... it felt like it wasn't her sister talking but someone else... "Are you feeling well... do you need to see a doctor? " Caroline asked in a worried tone. it was a really rare sight to see Michelle becoming emotional... she had always been the cold and stubborn sister who didn't allow rooms for any vulnerability. she always referred to them as a weakness and that was how she had tried to raise Alex, but alex had left her clutches long ago and found true love in the arms of someone who didn't make him feel like he was commuting a crime when he was sad... Michelle sighed deeply and face palmed herself... she felt like her words were slowly starting to crumble, and there was nothing she could do about it... "I feel more and mode guilty each day, and it's killing me... I'm not sure if I can live like this any longer, " Michelle said and stood up... she picked up her bag, and Caroline did the same, genuinely concerned about her sister's well-being... Michelle was scaring her because of the way she was suddenly acting... "Did something happen, Michelle... you can tell me. is something going on, " Caroline inquired, and Michelle simply sighed deeply and walked away, leaving Caroline completely confused about what was wrong with her... Caroline followed after her sister till Michelle got to where her driver was and waited for her with her car. she got into the car and didn't even both to say goodbye to Caroline, who stood there with a confused and curious look on her face... Michelle ran her hand through her hair and tugged on it a little... her mind was in shambles, and she could hardly even take a deep breath without having to worry... she was tired of living in constant guilt and fear... Her phone rang at that moment, and Michelle opened her back to take her phone out and check who was calling. she immediately froze when she saw the caller ID, her eyes travelled to the rearview mirror to stare at her driver and just like her former driver had acted he seemed to be minding his own business but he hear still worked... "Get out of the car," Michelle said in a low voice, and he immediately did as she said without question... he didn't want to risk getting fired just like her last driver who had been told to get out of the car... the news about what happened that day had spread around her employees after the driver that day had been fired... everyone else had been walking around her on eggshells, afraid that anything they didn't that didn't sit well with her might get them fired.. they didn't want to get on the bad side of Michelle Graham. no one would like to hire them again if they learned that they were fired by her.... "What the hell do you want!" Michelle yelled at the call when the driver was out of the car, and the door was close shot. her eyes were filled with anger as she spoke...
