"Alex, please, let's just go." Juliet pleaded with him and held his arm before he could take any more steps towards the ladies... He let out a deep sigh and nodded, and juliet felt relief wash over her... They both walked out the restaurant in silence. He said nothing to her while she kept looking around in case anyone recognised him again... She could finally breathe again in relief when they were both inside his car... "I'm sure they were only wondering who I am." She said suddenly, hoping her words would help reduce the tension that had formed between the both of them in the car. "I'm sorry," Alex replied. He never wanted their lunch date to turn out like this. he just wanted them to spend a nice time together and now he ruined everything... "You don't have to be. some people don't just know how to mind their business, " Juliet replied. She knew it wasn't his fault... "We should go somewhere else. somewhere no one would disturb our peace, and I know just the place. " Juliet smiled at him, their hand were still intertwined... "And where would that be?" Alex asked... "Probably my place," She answered, and he finally smiled. The tension between the both of them had dissipated, and they only mattered to each other at that moment... "We should get going then," He replied and started his car engine. Alex drove away, and juliet took one last glance at the restaurant... Would it be like this from then on? They had gone on a date at night before he went on his trip, but no one had recognised him them. maybe it was probably because it wasn't the type of place people of his class frequented... Maybe it was best if they avoided places like this then...
As they drove towards Juliet's house, Alex was contemplating in his mind if it was the right time to tell her about the building her had purchased in her name... He was trying to think about what her reaction would be to such an information... "Juliet." He called her name softly and glanced at her... she had a lingering smile on her face... "Yes," She responded... but the words wouldn't come out of his mouth... maybe now wasn't the best time... He shook his head and turned his attention back to the road but not without leaving Juliet curious about What he wanted to ask her...
She kept glancing at him occasionally, hoping he would say something, but he did not... the remaining ride to her house was a quiet one...
Juliet was the first person to come out of the car, but she stopped in her tracks when she saw a familiar figure standing at her front door... "Juliet!" Mrs Flicher said when she saw juliet come out of an expensive looking car... her eyes were filled with curiousity of who owned the car and she had an inkling of who it wad already... "Mrs Flicher," Juliet said in a low voice, not at all glad to see the nosy woman at her house... Alex came out of his car and immediately walked to Juliet's side, in case Mrs Flicher tried anything she wasn't supposed to... From the look on Julia's face, he could tell that she wasn't happy at the woman's presence...
A nervous smile appeared on Mrs Flicher's face, and she started to walk towards the couple... "I've been waiting here for a while now... I should have called you, but I don't have your phone number, " She said...
"Do you have something you want to speak to me about?" Juliet asked, she coulf never forget the fact that the woman in front of her sided with her aunt that she had never met before... Well, she wasn't surprised... How could she forget how much she didn't like this neighbourhood, mostly because of the people who resided in it...
"Yes, there is something I need to speak to you about, but..." Mrs Flicher's eyes travelled to Alex, who had a slight frown on his face and didn't even say a greeting to her... she wondered why juliet had made such a stunning but arrogant young man... he didn't look like he was from around there...
Juliet knew what the look meant... she knew Mrs Flicher didn't want Alex to hear their conversation... she, too, didn't want to hear Mrs Flicher's conversation. it wasn't like they were on good terms after juliet turned down her offer... "I'm a bit busy right now, but we can speak later," Juliet said firmly, and took Alex hand...
she and Alex walked past Mrs Flicher, leaving the woman dumbfounded by this... she scoffed and gritted her teeth, feeling her blood starting to boil... "Do you think that you are a big of a deal now that you got yourself some rich guy" Mrs Flicher muttered and turned to look at Juliet who had successfully opened her front door and quickly disappeared into her house with Alex... "That stupid girl! I wouldn't be surprised when he dumps you!" Mrs Flicher said in a raised voice so that juliet could hear her...
Juliet stopped in front of her closed door, Alex beside her... Alex looked mad again now... he wondered how people could be so brazen to say such words about others... "She should watch her tongue!" He muttered in anger and was about to go out and give Mrs Flicher a piece of his mind...
but juliet shook her head and held his hand before he could... "No, she isn't worth it," She said to him and started to lead him away from her front door towards her living room...
she didn't want him interacting with such people... it wasn't worth it. "Is this how she acts?" Alex asked when they were in her living room... He hated that juliet was upset... it angered him... "She wasn't like this... Well, she was nosy and wouldn't mind her business, but she didn't speak to me like this... she must be mad after I turned down her offer, " Juliet said...
"What offer?" Alex asked, and Juliet's eyes grew slightly wide... it was best if Alex didn't know about such an offer...
