"Thank you... I thought I wouldn't feel hurt even if she asked me to, but I had thought wrong. It broke my heart, and I miss her so much..." Juliet felt her heart break for Gina as she listened to her... "I wanted to invite her to my wedding, but she declined." Gina let out a deep breath and realised she had been dumping on Juliet even though they weren't on good terms... "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told you all of that," Gina immediately apologised. Maybe it was because she didn't have any friends and Juliet didn't stop her from talking. She just needed someone else to talk to, and Juliet seemed to be there at that moment. "It's fine. Would you like to come with me?" Juliet asked, and Gina looked confused. "To where?" She asked, and Juliet stood up; Gina stood up also and walked after Juliet, her eyes filled with curiosity as they both walked in silence... her eyes were on Juliet, who hadn't said a word to her, and after ten minutes walk, they finally arrived at an old looking house. Juliet turned to look at Gina but said nothing, and then she proceeded to knock on the door... they stood there in silence for a few seconds before the door was opened. "Juliet!" Gladys said when she saw Juliet, a smile appeared on her face as she drew Juliet into a warm hug, but it was then that her eyes landed on the stunning young lady who was standing behind Juliet. Her eyes were red and swollen, and it looked like she had been crying a lot... Gladys broke the hug, her eyes travelling forth between Juliet and Gina. "Is this your friend?" Gladys asked and before Gina could say no, Juliet beat her to it. "Yes, she is. Can she come in?" Juliet said, and Gladys nodded. She walked to where Gina was standing and took her hand. "Your friend is always welcome here," Gladys said excitedly, and Gina had no choice but to follow her into the house. A smile appeared on Juliet's face as she walked into the house with them.
Gladys led Gina to her living room and made her sit down comfortably... "What would you like to drink? I have some freshly baked muffins," Gladys said, and Gina couldn't decline because Gladys left before she could. "Why did you bring me here?" Gina asked Juliet, and Juliet smiled at her. "I don't know,"
They both stared at each other in silence before Juliet broke it. "My grandmother is excited to see you, so just play along." Gina nodded, and a smile appeared on her face when Juliet left the room to help her grandmother in the kitchen... she came back with a glass of milk for her and Gina while her grandmother brought the muffins. "Thank you," Gina said as she collected the glass of milk from Juliet...
Gina, who had skipper lunch and spent most of her energy crying, felt her stomach growl in protest when the wonderful scent of the freshly baked muffin wafted across her nostrils... she swallowed as she travelled to the muffin was placed on the table in front of her... juliet helped her grandmother take a seat on her favourite chair and then helped herself to some muffin without asking if gina wanted one...
Gladys stared at Gina, and their eyes met... "Help yourself," She said to Gina, who nodded and slowly picked out one of the muffins. She hesitated for a bit as she brought the muffin closer to her lips, and as soon as she tasted it, her eyes immediately grew wide because of how delicious they were... they were really tasty. She ate the one in her hand quickly and soon helped herself to another one... Juliet and Gladys exchanged looks, and a slight smile appeared on Juliet's face... "Wow! This is delicious, " Gina said as she took a bite out of her fourth muffin, and it made Gladys chuckle. "Thank you, you can help yourself to add as much as you want,"
A bright smile appeared on Gina's face, and she nodded... Gladys helped them with more muffins and milk, and she stared at both girls with so much love in her eyes... it warmed her heart to see the both of them happy...
"When did the both of you become friends?" She asked, and Gina froze... she was trying to think of a lie or perhaps tell Gladys the truth, but Juliet bit her to it again. " it's been months now, grandma. She I met her coincidentally, " Juliet explained. It truly was coincidentally for her... but probably not for Gina, who glanced at her...
,
"Oh, I'm glad the two of you met then. The both of you make great friends; you should have brought her over sooner, " Gladys said, and Juliet nodded... "I should," She answered, and Gina wondered why she was lying to her grandmother... well, it wasn't like she could tell her the truth... Gina was sure that she wouldn't be sitting here eating this sweet muffin as she liked if Juliet had told Gladys that she had tried to run her over because she was jealous that she couldn't get engaged to Alex... that would have made this nice grandma flip out. Anyone would, but probably not her mother...
Thinking of her mother made Gina a bit sad again, but she pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind and soon Gladys told them a story of when she was younger and she found herself laughing and enjoying her stay... she wiped the tears caused by laughter away from the side of her eyes and glanced at Juliet... she was glad Juliet and taken her with... she didn't feel sad any longer and felt like she could finally breathe once again, and Gina wished it was true that Juliet was her friend. she hoped juliet could forgive her for what she did, and they could become friends one day. she wanted and needed a friend like Juliet in her life... Juliet was a nice soul like her grandmother... she could have just walked away but waited and tried her best to comfort her. She had listened to her sad story... they all laughed and talked
Until it was finally time for them to leave...
Gladys walked both of them to her front door and gave her granddaughter a warm hug. She could tell that she didn't want them to leave, but it was getting late, and they had to leave now if they wanted to return early...
