Charles sat in a restaurant waiting for Gina to arrive he had a lingering smile on his face and he kept humming a song... she was a few minutes late but he didn't care, he was ready to wait for as long as needed if meant he had to see her and be with her... "Would you like anything sir" A waitress who had approached asked... she had a bright smile on her face but Charlie didn't care about that, there was only one person on his mind and he was sure she wasn't leaving his mind anytime soon... "Nothing I'm fine" He answered... the waitress almost winked at him, but didn't when Charles refused to look at her and pay her any attention... she left with a frown on her face and the frown deepened when she saw his face lighten up because of the woman who had walked through the entrance... Charles's face immediately lightened up when she walked in... her eyes scanning around till they landed on him... he immediately smiled at her but she didn't smile back at him, she looked a bit tired... "I'm sorry I'm late" Gina said as she took a seat... "No worries" Charles replied... "Are you feeling alright" He couldn't help but ask... "I'm fine, but I need to speak to you about something important" Gina answered in a low voice... her heart racing like crazy in her chest... the reason she was late was because she didn't want to see him and almost cancelled their lunch date after the visit from her father... but after much thinking she had finally decided what to do... but she wasn't sure if she wanted to do it anymore now that she was seated in front him. He looked so happy and she was the contrast to him... A brimming sadness that was going to ruin his new-found happiness "Oh, we can talk after lunch" Charles said and was about to call the waitress from before back but Gina stopped him... "No this can't wait, I need to say it now" She said and had to take a deep breath before she continued... Charles could feel the levity of what she wanted to say and a part of him could tell that he wasn't going to like it... Not one bit... she couldn't even look him in the eyes... "I'm...I might...get engaged soon" Gina finally blurted it out and she felt her heart sink when she saw the look of confusion on Charlie's face... she immediately regretted her words but couldn't take it back... "What" Charles said in disbelief... "I'm sorry, but I don't think we can do this..." She said and stood up... Gina immediately picked up her bag and started to walk away and it took Charles a few seconds to let her words sink in... she was almost at her car when Charles grabbed her hand stopping her from leaving... "what do you mean you are getting engaged....it can't be...you told me you were single" He said and Gina took everything to blink back the tears that were threatening to escape from her eyes... "I'm sorry but I should have told you, I let myself get carried away..." Gian was trying to act cold toward him but it was hard to do so when all she wanted to do was cry and tell him about everything that was happening and about how she could lose her boutique if she didn't comply with her father's demand... But she couldn't tell him, how would he perceive her... like someone who didn't care about him and only her gain? "Please let go of my hand, I have to go...it wasn't like we dated or anything it was just a spur of the moment and I'm over it already... and I think it's time you got over it to" Gina said coldly to Charles and she still couldn't look into his eyes... Charles slowly let go of her hand and Gina felt her heart drop... He said nothing more and she wished he would just say something... But he said nothing but instead just stood there and watched as she got into her car and drove away... Gina fisted her hand as she stared at him... her heart was aching already... She drove her car away from the restaurant and it was then that she finally cried... she started to hyperventilate and had to stop her car by the side of the road when tears started to blur her eyesight... "I shouldn't have done that... I shouldn't have done that..." She muttered in between her sobs and her hand travelled to her chest that hurt so bad... she had no idea that she would feel this way even though she had only known him for such a short time, she had no idea how much the feelings she had for him had grown... It took her a lot of willpower not to turn her car around and go back to him so she could tell him she didn't mean a word of what she meant and she wanted to be with him, but she couldn't...she just couldn't... not when she was this selfish and was scared of her father's wrath... not when she couldn't think of a way out of the predicament she had found herself in... Gina was about to start her car engine when her phone started to ring... she wiped the tears away from her eyes and cleared her throat before she picked up her bag and took out her phone... her heart stopped when she saw who the call was from... It was from Charles... why was he doing this to her! she wanted to scream out in frustration.. She waited till her phone stopped ringing and was about to put it back in her bag when her phone started to ring again... "What else do you want from me!" Gina yelled out and almost slammed her phone... but she simply dropped it and started her car engine.... she knew that hearing his voice was going to be her breaking point... She would become a complete mess and would take back her words which would only further complicate things.. She always knew happiness wasn't meant for her, but the short time that she had been happy was the best times of her life and slowly they were becoming unhappy moments for her too because thinking about it only left her sad...
