Fifteen
"Aren't you going to ask me about what happened." Juliet said in a low voice... she was sure her aunt must her maintained her victim card and told anyone who approved her, her lies to make sure she looked like the bad person... Claudia did the same thing to her mother when her grandfather passed away. Her mother, being too kind for her own good, had left the entire house their parents owned to her sister... But Claudia wasn't still satisfied... What she wanted to know was how Claudia was able to find her.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Alex asked, and she shook her head. she preferred if he didn't ask her about it... she didn't want to start narrating her part of the story. it was draining...
"It's embarrassing. why do you always show up at the wrong time? " She muttered and started to play with the dry leaves on the ground with her leg... deep down, she was glad he showed up... "Are you going to keep standing?" he said, and she finally looked up at him... his eyes locking with hers... Her heart started to race, and she had to break eye contact with him to catch her breath... she shouldn't have followed him. she should have just locked herself inside of her house and ignored anyone who came to knock on her door.
She didn't want to admit that she preferred standing in the middle of the park with him than being all alone in her house. he was warmer...
"Weren't you there to get your groceries?" Alex said, and she looked up at him. oh yes! her groceries, she had ended up leaving everything behind because of her her aunt. she had nothing at home to eat and she couldn't go back there right now. not everyone knew what had happened. they would probably start gossiping about her the moment she steps her foot back there...
"I will go back their later," Juliet lied even though she wouldn't. that was the type of person she was. she hated it when people talked about her. she hated getting people's attention and preferred if they didn't know who she was, rather than know her. that was why she didn't have any close friends around except Florence, who had moved...
She would have to get her groceries from the grocery store near her working place, and that would only be a hassle to her... she saw a shadow approaching her, and Juliet's attention finally returned back to reality... she looked up at the man in front of her, who had looked more mad than she had been a while ago... He was standing just a feet from her, and her heart started to race... why couldn't she keep eye contact with him...
"How about I come with you?" He offered, and Juliet had to take a step away from him before she answered. "Don't you have where to be at, like work?"
"No, I don't have to be at work right now. I'm free. " They both stared at each other, and juliet opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out of her mouth... "I'm not going back there... she might still be around, " Juliet finally said in a low voice... "We don't have to go there. I'm sure there are a lot of grocery stores in this town. she can't be at all, " Alex replied, and juliet sighed....
it would be helpful to her if he helped her with it, but... she didn't want to be indebted to him... she was tempted to accept his offer. she didn't want to risk running into Mrs. flicher, and she didn't have to be at work till the following week... so if she didn't get her groceries now, she had to eat out...
she sighed and nodded. "Thank you," Juliet said in a low voice, and Alex smiled at her... They both started to walk back to his car, and she couldn't help by glance at him. how he had defended her still kept replaying her mind... what if she had been the one of fault, didn't he think about that... he looked so mad...
He defended her. her heart felt warm when she thought about how he had comforted her the first time they had met... who was this strange man who had someone show up in her life and was warming her heart. Why was he making her heart race with any of his actions... why was so warm. why did he feel so conformable that she couldn't decline his request...
Why did she look forward to seeing him every day... And why was he so stunning... she immediately scolded herself in her mind. she couldn't afford to have a crush right now... she had a lot to deal with... she still had the debt from the house and a few loans to take care of. She also had to worry about her job. the company wasn't doing well lately, and more people were quitting each day, but she couldn't quit even though she had written her resignation letter...
she felt guilty for wanting to quit. she had been one of the first employees during her college days as an intern. Sonia had been a great boss even though she could be a piece of work at times. Julia had enjoyed working there, but these days, things weren't looking so good anymore.
They had lost a big client, and everything started to fall part from then... the employees didn't even wait and started to turn in their resignation. she couldn't blame her. She was sure most of them had a family to take care of and bills that needed to be paid, like she did.
But it was just sad for Sonia. she wondered if a solution would ever come, unknown to Juliet that the solution was standing right next to her and was already taking care of the problem that weighed on her heart...
He was the solution she hoped for
