Juliet sat beside Alex who lay on the hospital bed in his private room in his hospital. he had been unconscious for hours and his doctor had assured her that he was fine and would wake up soon, but why wouldn't he wake up... she sighed deeply as she held his hand that was no longer cold thankfully... Joy had stayed with her for a while. But she had left to call her soon and take care of some other things that needed her attention. Patrick was busy with Daniel's case and was working hard to make sure everything worked out well. But she hadn't heard from Michelle. she had been expecting Michelle to show up for a while, but she hadn't called or showed up... Juliet eyes were on Alex face as she watched his features. he looked like he was in a deep sleep and she wondered if she was dreaming about something. She hoped that it wasn't a nightmare and that whatever he was dreaming about was nice and warm and not filled with betrayal and pain... maybe there he could be free before he returned to reality to face how harsh it was... how was she going to console him... Juliet felt her eyes blur with Tears, but she quickly wiped her tears away when she heard a soft knock on the room door... the door was pushed open shortly after, and Patrick walked into the room... Juliet turned to look at him, and he smiled slightly at her; she smiled back at him before she returned her attention to Alex. "How is he doing?" He asked, and Juliet sighed deeply, "The doctor said he was fine and there is nothing to worry about, that he is going to wake up soon, but he hasn't woken up yet..." She responded...
"What about Daniel?" She asked and tilted her head to look at Patrick, who had a worried look in his eyes as he stared at Alex... "The case has been reopened, but it happened so long ago it might take a while..." Patrick answered, and Juliet said nothing... "I have to leave soon; please inform me when he wakes up,", Patrick said, and Juliet nodded. She walked him to the door and watched him leave before Alex's doctor approached her. "May I speak to you in my office, ma'am?" The doctor said after checking on Alex, and Juliet nodded, her eyes travelling to Alex as she followed the doctor out...
"Please have a seat" Dorothy Mathews gestured for Juliet to sit down, and Juliet did as she said. She could see how red and swollen Juliet's eyes were and could tell that she had been crying a lot. "Is something going on?" Juliet asked immediately when she was seated. She was afraid that something was wrong with Alex because why would the doctor ask to see her? "Everything is fine with Mr Graham. You don't have to worry, but I'm sure he has told you about his condition,", Dorothy said, and Juliet nodded. Alex had told her that he got severe panic attacks that led to pain in his chest, and sometimes the pain became unbearable. She had witnessed it multiple times and knew it wasn't to be taken lightly. "I'm not sure what happened because it seemed like he was getting better and finally doing well, but I think you need to watch him closely after today... he has to avoid anything that could mentally put a strain on him like today... it can get worse next time," Dorothy explained the best way she could to Juliet, and Juliet nodded... "I will prescribe some medicine for him to take, and he can go home after he wakes up, but please, I'm leaving him in your hands", She said, and Juliet thanked her...
"Do you think he can get better and be healed soon?" Juliet asked and Dorothy sighed deeply. She had been Alex's doctor for a while, but he had stopped coming for a while and she knew it was after he met Juliet, he seemed to be getting better but she knew if something happened that reminded him of the trauma that he went through he could bounce back again... and it seemed like it finally happened which she wasn't happy about... it was her joy to make sure that her patients were okay...
"I have gone through his records since he was a child, and I know he went through something very traumatic; one doesn't heal in a day; you have to take it one step at a time... you seem to be a good influence to him. You make him happy, and that is a good start; you just have to continue whatever you have been doing," Dorothy said, and Juliet smiled Warmly at her... she was glad that Alex found someone with whom he could connect and someone who truly cared for him...
She walked Juliet to her door and Juliet thanked her once again before leaving... juliet mind was heavy as she walked back to the room Alex was in... she thought about what his doctor said and nodded. She just had to take things one step at a time, and maybe one day everything would finally be fine... Alex would heal, and even though it might be hard for the both of them at first, they would try their best to get better... She opened the door and walked into the room, but Juliet stopped in her tracks when Alex turned to look at her... he was awake!
Alex was no longer lying on the bed, he was seated up, and was staring at the window before turning to look at her... a smile appeared on his face as soon as he sighted her and Juliet immediately rushed fully into the room... she ran into his arms and gave him a tight hug as tears escaped her eyes... "Alex..." She called out his name softly and broke the hug so she could look at his face... her hand travelled to his face, and Alex managed to smile at her again even though his heart was hurting... "I'm sorry... I should have answered you when you tried to stop me but..." he trailed off, and Juliet shook her head. She wasn't angry at him; how could she be after everything... "No please don't be sorry..." She said, and Alex nodded... he let out a shaky breath as he stared at her, his heart breaking... "when I woke up, I thought everything was just a bad dream... I had to pinch myself, but it was painful..." Alex said and Juliet could hear the pain in his voice, it made her eyes water up that he was hurting so much, she wished she could take all his pain away so he wouldn't hurt anymore... "everything is real... my uncle...my mother..." Alex muttered and tried to catch his breath and Juliet hugged him and held him as he buried his face in the nook of her neck... she started to pat his back soothing and was trying her best to console him even though she wasn't sure that it was going to work... if he wanted to cry then he could... she just wanted to hold him until he was okay... she wanted to tell him that everything was going to fine but couldn't... she could only pat hack soothingly and they both stayed like that for a while in silence...
Alex couldn't cry... the tears wouldn't his eyes... his heart was too broken to cry... his heart felt like a huge rock had been placed in his chest and was weighing him down and as Juliet held him in her arms... it felt like she was trying her best to draw him back up from what was weighing him down...
